To preface, we usually get $20 for ~ 6 bags of cans and bottles but lately its been about $13-15 so we've been feeling short changed. They don't provide a copy of the receipt unless asked. The last time I was here, we additionally brought glass, to the cans and bottles. I had my back turned while sorting the bottles and was unaware when the staff launched the recycling bin towards us, sliding 10 feet and hitting my leg as a stopper. The staff who hit me, walked off and began eating lunch, whereas the other staff member informed us that bin is specifically for glass. My partner went up to staff member and they did not acknowledge me nor apologize, instead continuing eating lunch. Very odd behavior. We'll be looking for a new recycling center!

We took 8 bags to Sunset Recycling today, and those 8 bags filled 6 of their recycling baskets. The cashier handed me a $1, a $5, and 4 bills I thought were $20s. $86 was about what I was expecting. When I got home, I realized they were actually only $10 bills. We went back to the center and asked to see our receipt. It said we had 27 pounds worth of aluminum. I questioned if that seemed right for 6 baskets full. The guy claimed it was. That would be less than 5 pounds per basket. I watched him weigh the next customers baskets, and each was 8-10 pounds. So, what do we think happened? Because the parking next to the center was full, we parked behind the Costco instead. We filled 6 of their recycling baskets with cans, plus a basket with a little bit of plastic and one with an insignificant amount of glass - that's 8 baskets total. We dragged over 4 of the baskets, then went back and grabbed the other 4. We think they took in a few of the first set of baskets we dragged over without weighing them first, then weighed the second set of baskets while we stood there. There is no way for us to prove that is what happened, but it seems like the logical conclusion. How can I be so sure 27 pounds is way too light? We had another 8 bags of cans to recycle. Immediately after, we took them to a competitor down the street. Those 8 bags of cans weighed in at just under 50 pounds for $85. So, yeah, we are 100% sure they ripped us off.

Almost every week to about 10 days they do not pick up the trash on scheduled days. Over the last couple of years my trash monthly service has risen from about $950 a month to almost $1,600 a month and it seems this past year the service is becoming worse and worse. The manager or coworker somebody that worked there told me to separate my items after I brought them all in and I explain to him that I couldn't touch the cans and recycles and Glass because some of the bottles contained alcohol at one point and I'm allergic. If any kind of alcohol touches my hands I get major blisters, and my skin starts to peel on my hands. It's very contagious and very painful. The employee did not care and even claiming he called his appears on me after he talked to the person on the phone. I did get my way and he did separate my items. I don't understand even though these guys, I'm sure there's an LA wage they make the person who brought them the items do all the work.
