My fiancé and I lived at The Cape for about a year and a half. We hit a stint of bad luck towards the end of our stay but management, specifically Katie, we're so attentive to us. I can tell that her priority was to make sure we were doing well and to offer any sort of support she could. I really appreciated the open communication that we had and the fact that even if we had some trouble paying right on time, she was understanding and worked with us. Honestly, I can't believe this place doesn't have more stars but that just goes to show that people who are pleased don't always take the time to let others know. So, I'm going to take the time. Most of the complaints on here are regarding parking. I can't believe there has been so many issues. This is one of the only apartment complexes in Costa Mesa that has a MASSIVE amount of parking (including over flow parking for guests). I'm talking MASSIVE. I'm currently in a 2 bedroom. We have 1 covered spot (no tag needed) and an open spot (tag needed). Human's make mistakes here and there. Someone may have dropped the ball on giving you a tag for your car but how could you not notice every single other car in an open spot with a tag? Wouldn't that make you question why you don't have one and prompt an office visit?? There are silver fish here and there but if you've EVER lived in another apartment complex before you know they are everywhere. Even Irvine Company has them. C'mon. You will never live one single place where if you live downstairs you will say "I never hear my upstairs neighbors, they're completely quiet." It's just something you deal with being in a lower unit. With that being said, anytime there is a legit noise complaint, it's addressed if not right then (during work hours) then the next day (if it happens over night). We even received a follow up phone call. The neighbors in my area are amazing. I got home from work, completely exhausted. A neighbor realized that I had left my car light on and called the office to notify them. The office looked up my license plate and called me to let me know so my battery wouldn't die on me! Can you see why I can't believe there aren't more positive reviews on here?! They just had the laundry rooms updated and they look amazing. They are always clean. I only have time to do laundry on Sunday's and have never, ever had a problem getting machines. There has been a lot of construction because they have been working hard to update the complex and make it even more beautiful than it already is! Painting, paving, etc. The staff has always been wonderful to us. Office and maintenance. Anyway, I realize everyone has their own individual experience and each one is unique. This is the most unprofessional property management I've had to deal with. Now I feel that I should have listened to some of the most recent reviews on here. My sister and I had been apartment hunting and came across the cape, we went in and were "helped" by Katie who showed us a 2 bedroom display. She let us know that there was a waiting list but that many apartments were going to be vacant around the time we desired. Eager and excited my sister and I paid for the application and put down a deposit for a unit that became "available". Then we received a call that they had to push back the initial move in date, that was fine. We were flexible and agreed. Mind you, both times I called after this no one in the office seemed to know what was going on and Katie never contacted us again. Then I get a call back about a week or two after they pushed back the date saying that they can no longer give us the unit because the tenants are staying. Again, I was being understanding . They said they would keep us on the waiting list but couldn't give us a time on when another unit would be available. Again, Katie who was "managing" our file was no longer communicating any of this information. With so much uncertainty coming from this office, I took our losses for the application and asked that our deposit be refunded. They told us the check would be mailed and will arrive in 21 days. It's been well over a month, I've received no check or communication from this office. I called last Friday and a young man told me he will talk to corporate and get back to me that afternoon. NOTHING. I've heard nothing and have yet to receive my deposit. I'm making this review based on my interactions with the management at The Cape which has been bad and similar to other reviews on here. read more

The Cape is such a pleasant community! Beautiful landscaping and the light blue exteriors feels so fresh and clean! I can get anywhere from here! Immediate access to the 405fwy is key for me! Long story short we were in a rush situation to find a place before the new year. I found Ashli one of the leasing agents number and gave her a call. She was amazing! She got us approved and in during what seemed to be the busiest apartment hunting time of the year. All of the staff are great people. Scott Alex George and Diane. They made this transition easy and peaceful. Oh and the place it's not half bad either. Laundry rooms on campus, a pool, vending machines, and my fave 2 parking spots. At first, me and my mother were excited to move in. They offered a discounted price for our rent, thanks to my mom working as maitinence in a hospital. The room the lease consultant Tyler Wagner showed us looked lovely, and he said our unit was going to be downstairs. After paying 200 for the hold, which he said we should do, since the one bed, one bath unit we liked was in high demand, and the 80 to process the application, we went through the lease and signed the paperwork. All that was left, was the last walk through before paying the down payment and rent. And, that's when shit hit the fan. Not only was the room upstairs, instead of down, as he assured us, Not only was it smaller, But he never bothered to mention, not once during the month long process we took getting everything together, NORE INCLUDE IN THE LEASE, That we had to buy our own appliances, or rent from them the appliances, which would of raised the rent way higher than the apartment was worth. My mother and I felt so cheated and lied to, we had to stop the process, and find a new place to move, TWO DAYS, before our apartment we lived in has us moving out. If you consider moving in here, ask questions THOUROUGLY, as well as ask the tenants how they feel living there. read more

Turn around, run in the opposite direction and don't look back. The reviews have certainly been more than accurate from what I can tell. I did not rent here, and truly I am grateful I did not. I was supposed to get my holding deposit returned after I did not rent. This was more than 60 days ago. The original check was mailed to the wrong address. I called after several weeks of not receiving it. The office manager at the time apologized and stated she would have it reissued and she would get it from the corporate office. A week goes by, no call. I call and am told she was transferred to another office. I speak to the new office manager who tells me another check would be issued by corporate and I could come get it from us there. Two more weeks go by, I call again. I'm told the check was mailed. Another week goes by so I call again. Conveniently the office managers computer "froze.". She stated she would call me back. Again no call. I called again to speak to an assistant. Not only was she unhelpful she was rude. I called corporate to be told that no check could be issued unless 30 days has passed. Today has been 33 days past the supposed reissue. I ask to speak to the corporate supervisor and she is conveniently not available. I was told the soonest my check will be remailed is Friday. Absolutely horrible service and completely disorganized association of terribly unprofessional and unapologetic people. Save yourself the trouble and pay a little more to rent from a more professional and courteous place. read more

Sewage leaks, flooding, break-ins, infested with silverfish, untrustworthy slumlords. Super shady apartments. They are untrustworthy & constantly breaking laws & heath code violations. Our flooding started on day 1 with our walk through of the apartment. I noticed a strong odor in the bedroom (cat pee esque) that they told me was new paint. Come to find out a couple months after we moved in that the smell was due to the SERIOUS FLOODING in building H that they will not fix (that they were already aware of with the previous tenants & neglected to tell us about). Every time it rained, our apartment along with several others in Building H would (and still does) flood. The walls, carpet, and our furniture are infested with mold and water damage as a result. We have spent hours & hours, missed work etc trying to get a hold of the cape leasing office and their corporate office. Whenever we reach them they tell us this is the first they've heard of it and they'll come replace the carpet pad or that they're "working on it". They severely mishandled the situation and now two years later and about 10 carpet pads later, they have still not been seen "working on it". NO ONE came by & NO ONE followed up with us. Last voicemails were left 5 months ago to both the leasing office & the corporate office and once again they have mysteriously forgotten to call us back. "Let me look into that for you" means "I'm going to hang up the phone now and you'll never hear back from me again." They're employee turnover rate is absolutely insane. Unfortunately for us since they did not repair the root of the flooding, we couldn't set up our new furniture as it would be affected by the water as well. Meanwhile, we were not able to use our BEDROOM that we paid $2000 for because of the severe allergies we have to mold & the fact that I don't enjoy rolling out of bed and stepping in a giant puddle of water in the morning. We were told they would not fix the leak, that they wouldn't pay for a hotel for us to stay somewhere else & that we would not be able to break lease early to find a new apartment that doesn't flood. We had no choice to but to move out. Building H also has a huge sewerage/plumbing issue. Something is seriously wrong and this is yet another thing that they are stumped and don't know how to fix / won't fix. There is a horrific smell coming from all of the pipes outside the apartment and down the sink drains. Every once in a while the toilets & showers will get backed up with sewage & it will drain out slowly in the middle of the night (very loudly). This all overflows out of the smelly pipes outside a few times per year. There will be chunks of poop & toilet paper on the sidewalk to get to our door. It was like a river of feces. So gross! After the maintenance crew stops the overflow, no one picks up the toilet paper/ sewerage and since it's under the carports, it just stays there. This happened whenever any units nearby had the issue since the drain was right by ours. You're not allowed to see your apartment until move in day but you're told it looks like the model. Spoiler alert...it does not. Different carpet, walls, porch, etc. There are also tons of bugs inside the units. They're infested with silverfish, roaches, and ants. A month before we were supposed to move out there was a mass car vandalization to 4 vehicles inside the "safe" gated community. Apparently this happens about once per month it just hadn't hit us yet. Broken car windows everywhere. They advised they'd clean up the glass in the parking lot but no one ever came to do it. Keep in mind that they do not know the definition of "security deposit". They have their own definition which is basically "pre payment for cleaning". Do NOT expect to get it back. They automatically deduct all the standard cleaning fees from your deposit no matter the condition of your apartment or how long you've lived there. I don't know where they find their employees but one of them had never heard the word prorated rent before, another couldn't read a bank statement, and none of them seem to know anything about apartments. Upon move out their employee asked me the reason for move out. I responded "there are a lot of reasons". Her response? "Well we have to have a reason for the form" I advised flooding, break-ins, and 3 rent increases in 2 years. She then says "well, I guess we don't need a reason, we'll just put 'multiple reasons". They also changed the date that I gave notice (in person) after I left & then proceeded to charge me for giving late notice. I suggest strapping a GoPro to your forehead for all interactions with these people-DOCUMENT EVERYTHING BECAUSE THEY WILL LIE. Somehow we couldn't break lease because of the slumlord living conditions but they can raise our rent once in the first month we moved in, a 2nd time after the first year, & a 3rd time this year. We are so happy to be out of here & would never recommend these apartments to our worst enemy. read more

This place is the absolute worst. 4 of us lived in a 3 BR house for 1 year with minimal furniture and activity. We literally just slept there and most of us were never home since all of us are really busy with work and school. Most of the weekends the apartment was empty because we'd go home for the weekend. That's how little we stayed at the apartment. When we moved out, they asked us to pay them $800 ON TOP OF OUR SAFETY DEPOSIT. There was a $1000+ charge to redo the carpet when there was nothing wrong with it especially since we were hardly home. The carpet was ruined due to THEIR AC SYSTEM LEAKING. The work order was in their system and we have concrete proof that the carpet fault was on them and they're demanding that we pay extra? I've lived in multiple apartment complexes and never have been asked to pay more on top of the safety deposit. Worst place ever. Bugs everywhere, dingy apartments, low quality everything. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE! DONT EVEN BOTHER LOOKING HERE IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS, I WOULD!! This is by far the worst place I have ever rented from. Problems started from day one after moving here. We had sink hole by our front door, our toilets would not flush, we had no hot water, and mites had eaten our door that they did not fix. If you want anything fixed in your house, GOOD LUCK trying to get them to fix it. Its like pulling teeth to get them to fix anything. I have an 11 month old daughter and they still would not help me fix problems in our home. If you want to wash clothes here, well thats a miserable experience. You have to put money on a card which it ate my money. The machines are always broken, and you think they would fix them right? NOPE. They say they do but they are broke day after day after day. Since I have moved here I have heard of 3 accounts of people getting their homes broken into. My neighbor had her bike stolen off her porch, I had my very expensive package stolen off my porch which had my daughters belongings in them. WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE FRONT OFFICE????!!! WORST AND MORE UNHELPFUL PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER ENCOUNTER. The front office is full of women who seem to wake up on the wrong side of the bed EVERY day. If you call and complain that something is broke in your home or there is suspicious activity, or someone stole anything, or a pipe broke, they WILL NOT care. Back for another review of this nightmare of an apartment complex. And no, our cockroach problems were never resolved - we continued to have cockroach problems until we moved out. Terrible way to live and they must have some serious infrastructure problems. Can't believe I paid rent to live in a hole where we got exterminated 4 times and couldn't keep anything in our kitchen cabinets. That said, onto the real reason for this updated review. This place will try any tactic possible to get your money. When I was still living here, I had read past reviews about The Cape using people's deposits to replace carpets even though they were installed just a year ago. How true that review was. This apartment complex is trying to charge my roommates and me $1200 for replacing the carpet which was newly installed right before we moved in. So, let's give this some context. As you can see from my second review, our AC unit flooded at one point, and our carpet had to be cut open, dried, and patched. The only damage to the carpet which was our fault were a few stains in the living room. Instead of trying to use a steam cleaner to clean the stains, this company just decided to rip everything up and replace the carpet. We suspect that the main reason they wanted to replace the carpet so badly is because of the damages caused by the AC unit, which was in no way our fault. Now comes the really strange part. On our move-out inspection form, there was a charge written for $582 for the carpet replacement. Fine, ok it's listed there. However later, they sent us another paper that included an additional carpet replacement charge of $598. That means that the total carpet charges they are trying to charge us for is nearly $1200. We have tried to talk to the management company to figure out what this charge is for, but we have not received a direct answer. It seems that nobody really knows what this charge is for. You can't just add a random charge WHICH WAS NOT LISTED ON OUR MOVE-OUT INSPECTION SHEET and expect us to pay it. My experience with this place is probably the worst I have had with ANY company ever. If possible, I would give this horrid place -5 stars. We moved out in September, and we are all still wasting our lives trying to sort things out with this terrible place. read more

This place is decent. Mostly quiet with cool neighbors and an occasional fighting couple, which could be heard thru the paper thin walls, this place was just okay. The best part of living here is the maintenance crew. They are on top of any issues and take care of things right away. The part that bummed me out was that that practically RAPED us on our deposit. We were only there for 3 months and with the exception of a couple small tears in the cheap linoleum from moving the fridge in, we left the place in immaculate condition. Yet they charged us $200 for "cleaning" and $500 to replace a 5' x 5' piece of linoleum, claiming 3 hours of labor!! I claim Bullsh@!........ read more

Cons: Management, condition of units Pros: Location, friendly and efficient maintenance staff Please be advised: The Cape is WAY over priced. While the exterior is charming, the inside of the units are bordering on awful - bad lighting, awkward use of space, chipping paint and cheap looking counters. While at first look the apartments may appear fine, please note that after just a few weeks of use, they start to quickly deteriorate - paints chipping off of every wall, counters turning yellow for no discernable reasons, and discoloration of the carpet (we didn't even wear shoes inside!). Oh, and they will charge you for this when you move out. Additionally, I cannot stress enough how ineffective and unhelpful the management is. If you rent from the Cape, be mindful that management will not try to assist you in any way; in fact, the rental manager will go out of her way to ensure that you feel as though you have no options. It is so confusing to me, given the fact that only half of the complex is rented, that she was so unwilling to work with the residents. My experience at the Cape, despite the location, forces me to discourage others from renting there. PS. For just a little bit more each month, there are a variety of FANTASTIC apartment community's on the other side of SCP, which you can rent from. My suggestion - bypass the Cape and look there instead. read more

Reading the other reviews, I noted a kernel of truth in each. I've lived here with my wife for 5 years. We moved here after living at The Breakers in Huntington Beach. The apartments are gorgeous in comparison! We are paying $1.55 sq ft. You might think its odd to use that as a measurement, but it's the ONLY true gauge in apartment living. That's one of the primary reasons we left the Breakers. They were going to raise our rent that would have been $1.88 sq ft. Granted we are paying more total to live at The Cape, the cost per sq ft is substantially lower! So many great things in walking distance, we normally leave our cars parked when we come home and hoof it to dinner and shopping. Regretfully, there is not a grocery store in walking distance, but there is Ralph's, Von's, and Stater Bros all within a reasonable distance. A majority of professionals live at The Cape; however, they also rent to the Art Institute who then place their students there. For the most part, the students are respectful of the situation, but they have been more than a few that mistake apartment living for college dormatory living. We ran into that issue, but it was eventually solved after the patio puking and garage pot den episode. Overall it's a nice place. The maintenance staff is fairly stable, but the office faces turn over frequently. read more

I cannot beleive I live here. I actually WANTED to live here! So I did for ONE year! I am leaving next month! I have such great disdain for this place right now and really since day one- that I must caution any of you who think you might want to live here. The location is awesome! I can walk to Metro Pointe, South Coast Plaza and Crystal Court. I am 15-20 minutes from my Irvine office! Don't be fooled with the location of this quaint looking community with cape cod blue and cranberry colored doors. It's a hideous place! I did my very best to maintain my patio and decorated the interior of my apartment as cute as I could given how unhappy I was here. Florescent lighting in your home bathroom- should be a sin! Everytime that I got ready I left feeling like I looked like a corpse! Getting ready in that bathroom required a stiff drink and a sense of humor. I cannot wait to get my cute stuff outta there and move it on over to Quail Meadow at Quail Hill in Irvine! Where I am sure that I am trading these problems for a whole new set! But at least my self esteem will improve! read more

Look elsewhere if you wanting to move in here. The maintenance staff is a joke. We called 10 times to have the rain gutters cleaned and they NEVER came. We had a waterfall build up out side out window and keep us up all night. Then when you move out they charge you for cleaning, paint, carpet cleaning, paint supply's. BS. We cleaned the apartment inside and out. The guy that did the final inspection said the apt was "move in condition" then we get dinged with a $400 cleaning fee. The cape is a joke! read more

Some of the people that gave this place more than a Star, were extremely kind. I've used to live here for 2 years, and that was about 23 months too long! Positive: Location Cleanliness Negative: PRICE (they get you in with a temporary promotion, but then exponentially increase the rent once the promotion expires). VERY THIN WALLS NO microwave. TAKE ALMOST ALL YOUR DEPOSIT WHEN YOU LEAVE Pay extra for garage, satellite TV, utilities. Monopoly on cable company. MOST NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS PLACE - They will find any excuse to tow your car! If the sticker is off center, you're 1 minute past in the time allotted in the parking lot, your car is backed into the parking. TURN OVER on staff is very high! In addition, I heard from a former employee that they do get a bonus from the towing company for every car they're able to get towed from the complex! Very unethical company and complex! Wish I would've read these reviews first; I hope I can help at least 1 person with my review. You have choices. READ THIS REVIEW PEOPLE!!! Sorry.... Yelp made me keep this shorter than I wanted so there are DOZENS OF THINGS I didn't include... Shitty slumlord stuff. The previous reviews are not lies! Here's what I experienced in the first month in this so called "Luxury" apartment. - Was told the "Bedford" apt was 750 sq. Ft. It actually measures 550 sq ft. I talked to other residents in other models and they are smaller than quoted as well!! - MEASURE THE APARTMENTS BEFORE SIGNING!!! You can get way bigger floor plans for your money with less of the issues that follow: -My bathroom, with ZERO ventilation had to have the floor ripped out due to a thick layer of mold. They pulled up the old floor, scrape out the mold.. Which, made for a lumpy brand new floor. - Bath and shower are standard (not luxury) fiberglass inserts that have been reglazed. The faucet in the shower fell apart three times and fixed three times. - Bathroom sink has a sewage odor come from it that maintenance said,"dunno what to do about it." It also had a motel 6 faucet that I could barely fit my hands under to wash and had black water seeping from the knobs. It has since been replaced per my complaint so now I just have a more luxurious faucet to barely fit my hands under as I'm smelling luxuriously pungent sewage. Joy. - Bathroom drawers and cabinets are from the eighties and have a loud squeek or dont close properly because of the layers of 30+ yrs of paint on them. - Bathroom medicine cabinet is 30 yrs old and falling apart... Asked for it to be fixed or replaced 5 months ago... Nope, forgotten. - Oh yes... There's more. - Toilets are for Pigmys. No... Really. I have a normal sized ass and I feel like I'm sitting on an RV toilet. - Towel rack fell off three times. Fixed three times. I finally just fixed it myself. - Bathroom mirror has the silver backing coming off around the edges. - Bathroom counter.... Well... You'd think it'd be of a luxurious quality material??? You got it!!! ITS NOT! Nope... No standard issue luxury granite here my friends, we residents that they so value got treated to that speckled granite look alike epoxy paint that you find in motels on hooker infested streets. - Kitchen... Same issues with the cabinets and drawers. But they are a luxurious 1987 oak veneer with past residents oily finger stains on them. Um... Gross. They are also sporting lots of patched holes made by past residents. When I complained about this upon move-in, I was told,"Terry, you should see the cabinets in MY apt... You'd cry." Well... I disagree, but just because your standard of quality is below what I tolerate doesn't mean I have to. Are they fixed or replaced?? Not yet. - Microwave is modern. Stove was not but I told them it will be identical to the one in the model or I wasn't moving in. It was replaced in a week. - Countertops in the kitchen are same as the bathroom. Paint. - Dishwasher was made in 1986. And it wakes the dead and Barely cleans the dishes too. - Garbage disposal was broken on move-in... Its fixed now but vibrates the entire counter and resonates through the floor!! - Carpet? Cheap and poorly installed - Sliding glass doors were all fogged up on move-in. They fixed one but the door is now misaligned and opens all the way if left partially open... - Air conditioner/heater unit is in the wall. When it starts up, it sounds like a jet taking off and we have to crank up the TV volume to hear it. Popping the service door on said gem of an appliance will display the 80's technology clogged with fuzz and rust while sporting a McGuyvered air filter. Maintenance said,"They're all like that. Some are worse... You should hear mine.." - Dining room light was installed by a tech that was blind. Its WAY off center. - Patio has rotten wood slats. They fix them. - Rain gutters are falling off. - Patio railing is loose. And rotting wood. - Pool was promised to be heated in the wintertime.... Its ice cold. They said,"we only heat it in the summer months" ahhhh... Two lies. - Parking is good. Visitor parking is copious. - Towing problem? There IS no towing problem. If you are towed, you deserved it. - TONS of people leave with their tails between their legs in shame. - Rent is raised EVERY YEAR. And not just a little. I have found 6 complexes that are none of what I have told you for the same price and ACTUALLY measure in at 700-800 sq. ft. - A final note.... She is thoughtful, friendly, extremely professional and there is no person here that I have come in contact with, (other than Juan and Andrew, who are total all-stars and this place would fall apart without them), more considerate than she is. May 2016 - I have to update my review. I can no longer give this place 4 stars. Mainly because, as of this year, we have to listen to those extremely loud gas-powered leaf blowers every single day including Saturdays, and sometimes even TWICE a day during the week! It used to be about twice a week, which is manageable... Every single day is ridiculous! In fact, it just started this morning again (Saturday), and my neighbor just slammed his door in total annoyance! I have complained, and all they did was stop the cleaning lady from using one around the pool area every morning. This is a landscaping device, not a cleaning device for lounge chairs and umbrellas! In fact, the use of these leaf-blowers has been BANNED in many cities... unfortunately, Costa Mesa is not one of them. Secondly, parking has become an issue this year. It never was for the 3 years prior. I don't know what has happened here, but what makes it even harder to accept is this is all happening after I received a rent increase of $185 a month! And this was after having to be moved to a different unit because their pipes burst, flooding my apartment last year! Yes, I'm looking to move somewhere when my lease is up. I don't deserve this for the amount of rent I'm paying. Thank you very much. I'm open to suggestions. May 2014 - I've lived here almost 3 years, and I have to say every single time, and luckily not that often, that I needed something taken care of, it was always handled almost immediately and professionally. I love living here! Yes, I've had a couple of problem neighbors, now gone, but that is not the fault of management. read more

My husband and I applied to live here and had to put down a $200 security deposit. I asked if this deposit would be refundable if we didn't get approve. And Taylor who helped us said yes. Well we didn't get approved. Supposedly they processed our information so that we can get our deposit back and we were told that it would take 21 days for us to get our deposit. It's been over a month and we never received our security/holding deposit. We've been calling every day to the leasing office and to corporate and no one bothers to call us back. We don't even live here and they are still holding onto our deposit. Even for not living here I'm convinced these people are unreliable and can't trust. read more

I've lived at the cape for the last year and a half. This was my first downstairs apartment and I have never had any issues. My neighbors are all super friendly and I get 2 parking spaces. I do see cars getting towed late at night but I haven't had any issues yet. I am close to the guest parking lot so my friends always park there. Minus 1 star for I was told that when I moved in, it would be a very quiet location, but I can really hear the freeway and street noise. Overall I am pleased. The staff is really nice and helpful and the property is nice. read more

Live here alone for 2 years. Rarely be home because I was always at my work. Just home for sleep. Therefore my apartment was in a good condition. After I moved out last month, I never got some of my deposit back, but the bills for more maintenance, believe it or not!!! So you know, if you live here, you will never get your deposit back and that's many hundred dollars. Prepare for their excuse to get all your money for their little maintenance!!!!!!! read more

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE place to live. I've waited to write this review for quite a while now, but it's time to go into detail about why NO one should ever choose to live here. After 6 months of living here, I was not verbally told ONCE in person that my car needed a parking permit. Management even gave us TWO gate remotes, and never once notified me that I needed a pass. Cut to today (6 months later), I walk outside and my car is GONE. I thought at first it might've been stolen, but after calling the tow yard, it was absolutely brought there over night. I went into the management office to ask if I had to pay the $350 to get it back since I had NO idea I needed a pass, and one of the reps smiled and said, "Yes, I'm sorry", and proceeded to give me some papers to file for a parking pass. I didn't feel like she was on my team, nor did I feel any better talking to her about the situation. It's not her fault specifically, but I would hope that I could feel the management would have my back somehow. That aside, I will go into more specifics of why you should EXHAUST all of your possible options before you live here. CONSTRUCTION: The building is poorly constructed with low ceilings. MAKE SURE you ask who lives above you. We were unfortunately placed above 2 heavy-set adults and a small child whom they allow to RUN up and down the halls and rooms. He sometimes throw tantrums and fits, cries and scream, pounds the floor very loudly, throws bouncing balls/toys that sound like bowling balls above us . It sounds like an earthquake with the windows rattling every time someone walks through a room. I usually have to resort to wearing headphones to cancel out the noise, and even with the sound turned all the way up it sounds like there are herds of cattle above you. We tried complaining to the front office TWICE, but nothing changed. MAKE SURE you ask if you live above a garage. Every time someone opens their garage below us, there is an EXTREMELY loud noise for 5 seconds (sometimes if the garage is broken, it can last for 15 seconds with the door going back and forth) in the morning at night (whenever the garage dweller wants to come and go). NOISE: Neighbors and people having parties past a decent hour. On most weekends, there were people outside their patios talking and laughing and screaming loudly, and no one does anything about it. I would accept 1-2am as a normal time to be quiet on the weekends, but sometimes people would go until 3-4am playing music and being outside. If you're not the type to want to be around that kind of possible noise, DON"T live here. PARKING: Not enough parking unless you have an assigned space. This is one of the WORST things about living here. Sometimes I'd want to leave past 6pm on a weekday, or come home late on a weekend but I knew if I did, I would have a 1% chance to park near the apartment. Being a woman walking alone at night is no joke. Also, aforementioned unjustified TOWING. Seriously, GO ELSEWHERE!!! read more

I've been renting for about 10 years now, and the Cape is by far the worst place I've ever lived. Besides being over-priced for the low quality units, the office staff is horrible. They refuse to listen to legitimate concerns. On more than one occasion, they have talked down to or straight-up insulted me. On top of that, they just have no idea what they are doing. I did an application during the most recent August special that The Cape Apartments had to offer. I paid the $200 holding fee and the application fee as well. I continued to go through the process. A deposit of $1,500 was given towards the the total deposit. I go through the whole process to see if I am approved, which I was but they approved me at a much higher rate. So, I decided to withdrawal my application and take my chances else where. I asked for a refund of my $1,500 and the $200 holding fee. I have yet to receive my refund of $1,500, and they took renter's insurance payments twice from my bank account when I never once received a key or lived a day here at The Cape Apartments. I question the legitimacy of the way they process their applications. They pressure you into these specials, but it is hard to receive your refund back if you decide to not live at these apartments. read more

I wanted to wait a few weeks to leave a review, because I feel it's important to get passed the moving stage before giving an honest opinion. We all know that moving week is exciting but can also being overwhelmingly stressful. We didn't have the best moving scenario. We got overly charged when we were quoted a price by movers. They showed up high on the job in flip flops and took double the time we were quoted st. Let's not forget they offered my girlfriend weed while on the job. We are now very stressed and annoyed. However, once the movers left we were able to finally be in our element. Able to finally taking in our new place, our new sub community and the amenities that are provided by The Cape. We had a very warming welcome by friendly neighbors that gave us a welcoming bottle of champagne. Beautiful landscape that allows you to breathe a sigh of relief when you get off of a long days work; and a jacuzzi that takes away the pain in my muscles from leg and chest days at the gym. Krystle in the front office helped and hasn't stopped with any minor issues we have had during move in. We really aren't complainers but she has done it with a smile to make sure our new home is up to Expectations and our satisfaction. Very courteous, but most of all genuine. Otto, the head of the maintenance team has done a great job to help with any issues and has also been very comforting with issues my girlfriend had. For that, we are very grateful. I recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a stress reliever from their every day repetitiveness. I can say I can finally come home and relax and "let my hair down." Which is not possible. Cause I'm a dude with short hair. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. We've been here for a little over a year and a half now and management has constantly changed, nobody in the property staff knows any sort of process, and there's no accountability or reliability for any sort of fixable issue. Bless the maintenance men & one leasing consultant for being so kind, helpful, and first and foremost great partners on a HUMAN BEING level... other than that good luck getting anything more than bare minimum customer service. IF even that. Yes, if you're lucky to have a unit with zero problems and great neighbors that's fantastic and your experience may be totally different - but have a few problems here & there? Things take forever to get addressed & not everyone in management even knows how to. Do yourself a favor and try to find some other place to live at before settling down here... read more

I have lived in 4 different apartments at The Cape over the last 8 years. I have always felt safe and have loved the quiet and more mature residents that tend to live here. The grounds are kept beautiful and the maintenance has always taken care of my needs in a timely and professional manor. There is a huge park next door and is a godsend for any dog owners. I love the location as it is next to all of the major freeway exits and entrances and being able to walk across the street for food or movies is very convenient. The leasing office and the staff go above and beyond for all of my needs and are always helpful and friendly. I have been blessed to call The Cape home after almost a decade of living here. read more
