Such a great adventure and ticket prices are very reasonable ! The views from the top are stunning and I'd so go on this anytime I visit National Harbor. If you aren't afraid of heights, this is a must and try to get there around sunset , I'm sure that view would be spectacular! FYI: tickets can be purchased on sight

Great entertainment if you are in the area. Service was very good, attentive staff, beautiful views of the Harbor, especially at night

We bought tickets online so we didn't have to wait in the ticket line and went straight to the Ferris wheel line. They have a photo op place to take pics before your ride and purchase after you get off. We waited in line about 20 mins during sunset before getting on. The gondola has AC and the chairs were padded but still pretty uncomfortable. The window to look through was kinda dirty and we saw several spiders on the outside. We spun for about 6 revolutions and 20 minutes long and it feels pretty fast when you are on it. The views were absolutely breathtaking and I highly recommend going during sunset. There is a Ben and Jerry's next to the Ferris wheel so we got some ice cream to enjoy while watching the pretty lights on the Ferris wheel. We parked in the parking garage just a short walk away which was $5 for under 1.5 hours. Unfortunately I didn't see any public accessible bathrooms

This was my first time riding the ferris wheel. I always forget it's there when I'm actually at the Harbor and then recall as I am going over the Wilson bridge. Anyway, what I love about this wheel is that dogs are allowed! I try to include my dog in as many social outings that he can go on to ensure he has experiences too. When the weather gets colder, it's much harder to find activities he can partake in so I was excited to learn that I didn't have to leave him at home when spending time with my nieces. The four of us purchased tickets at the venue and then headed to the queue. If you have small kids (or a small dog), there is a stroller parking area that you can place your stroller while you ride. It's not secure though so be sure to keep any valuables on your person. The line was short and we ended up with a swing all to ourselves. They are pretty roomy; the previous group had about 7 average sized to bigger sized adults and most of them could fit in one carriage (though not with much room to spare). In the summer this may be okay; the swings are temperature controlled. With the cold weather, I found the temperature to be a bit too warm. Particularly if you dress in many layers as I do, being bundled up in a swing with hot air blowing on you is pretty miserable. To ensure you get your money's worth, the ride is about 5-8 mins I think. You go around at a languid pace about 4x and the last 5th time is the longest as it stops to allow patrons to exit the swing. My dog did pretty well for his first time. He was a little nervous, but with soothing pets and holding him, he calmed down. Perhaps next time I'll bring some treats. He did have a bit of a spell toward the end when he had a birds eye view of people walking. Speaking of, the views from the wheel are quite nice. You can see the National Monument and others from up there. All in all, this is a nice outing! There are a ton of restaurants to eat afterward and around the holidays, they have a market. The latter had nothing of particular interest but it was nice to get out and walk around. While the outdoor space is super dog friendly, the restaurants did not appear to be so. The outdoor patios lacked any heating lamps, and therefore aren't suitable during cold weather. I also couldn't tell if dogs were allowed there. Perhaps your best bet is to have a couple of people and send one in to a fast food spot to bring food to sit near the courtyard (?) where films are shown.

Although I'm afraid of heights , it was still a beautiful experience to ride on. The sun was setting so we had a great view of the water and harbor , I definitely recommend . It's not long you go around a few times , maybe 20 mins your on . The staff members were friendly , helpful and professional.

Ferris wheels are one touristy thing that my husband and I will do whenever we visit a new place. If there is a giant Ferris wheel, we will be forking our money to take in the views. We are guaranteed customers (or marks). I admit it. The Capital Wheel was cute! It's on the pier, so you get these gorgeous view of the water. I'd recommend going late afternoon/early evening so you can get views of the sky when the sun sets. The ride is slow and there were a couple of revolutions. You can take some great pictures. It was also a good thing for us to do on a conference night. After traveling and conferencing, this was an easy, relaxing activity after dinner and within close distance of our hotel (Residence Inn). Tip: Check out their website or online ahead of your visit and see if there are any discount deals or specials. We went around late August and there was some coupon code deal that we got at that time to save us a few $$$.

We were going on a little weekend trip and we were excited to try the wheel. We have been on the way in Vegas and London. This one doesn't hold a torch to either. I booked the vip which said it had a glass floor, I'll get back to that. You also received a photo and drink. The drink they give you was a Perrier water, they had a bar on site that only served beer. The glass floor is not worth the extra money $50.00 because it was a plexiglass that was sractched up so bad you couldn't see anything, plus it's not like it's over water so even if you could see anything it would be the bottom of the wheel. I would definitely skip this attraction whenever we visit Dc and would tell everyone the same thing! The views are nice but just pay the $18.00 and get a regular pod.

4 rotations is your riding experience! Very cool! All lights on at night! $18 each for adult or $35 for 2 tickets and a large 10x12 picture printed at the end! This is the way to go!

Deathly afraid of heights! But what is a girl to do when she is gifted free tickets by the manager at one of the restaurants at the harbor? Well, go and experience it of course! Super cool and something to do! The view is beautiful! Romantic for sure! Perfect for date night! Go when the sun is setting! You'll be able to kiss in peace! lol

All of the years I lived in Washington DC, I never visited the Capital Wheel. Well, well, well; on my most recent trip to DC I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the wheel! Let me start by saying the weather was absolutely perfect. My family and i only waited maybe 25 minutes total which was fine because you're essentially waiting on the boardwalk. Boats are speeding by, people are dancing, folk were eating ice cream. The entire vibe was excellent! The seats were absolutely comfortable and the view was impeccable. We had the option of riding in the VIP seats but those only seat 4 adults and we were a family of 5. After leaving the ride you have the option of going to the flight deck for drinks which were reasonably priced. The bartender was really busy and I didn't get to interact with him but the manager who was assisting was delightful. I think next time I will definitely make the kids wait as dad and I get on the VIP experience.

This thing is a beauty at night.

I'll be honest with you all, when I came down to this area and knew that I would be spending the next two weeks working down here, the one thing that I wanted to do prior to leaving this area was to ride the wheel. I did accomplish it, but it took me nearly the full two weeks to do so. I really didn't have a plan of attack for doing this. The day that my friend and I did this we kind of did it on a whim. We were eating nearby and could see the wheel. I had joked that we should do it (I was going to do it one way or another regardless). As we were sitting there we kept talking about it until we finally pulled up the website on our phones and went ahead and purchases our tickets. Much easier this way, but honestly not that much of a time saver. See, you can purchase online beforehand, but you are still going to have to wait in the line to get your ticket, and if it is a special ticket, you are going to still have to wait. Honestly, either way of purchasing, online or inline, is about the same amount of time. We went with the Brew and View ticket which allows you to enjoy yourself an adult beverage during your experience. Great idea, bad execution. With this ticket you get to go to their bar called The Flight Deck. Pick from a menu of drinks to take with you and you get to enjoy that in a souvenir cup. The cup is kind of cool and reusable, although if you get one for wine I feel like you get less of a drink. Once you get your drink, you have to basically go back down to where you purchased your ticket and get in line for the wheel. So all those people that were behind you before at the window are now in front of you. Standing in the line can be like that at any amusement park. Every so often it would move forward when they would change out the riders. It took forever. There is barely a covering and when you do finally get some shade on a sunny day, that's when the line moves and you are thrust back out into the sun. The people running the ride are swift with their movements. You can tell they have been doing this for a while and it is just second nature to them. They give you the safety lecture on what you can and cannot do on the wheel and then load you up and send you round and round. I don't recall the amount of times you revolve, but it feels like a good duration. This allows for you to see just about everything you can while doing your rotations. The views a spectacular, you can see the whole of National Harbor, across the Potomac to Alexandria, and in the distance you can see the Washington Monument. Make sure you take as many pictures as possible while up there, every angle you can think of. Honestly, just sit back and enjoy, it is quite nice.

This wheel is amazing. I am normally scared of ferris wheels but still like to go on them. This one was so pretty when coming into the area, i new i had to stop by sometime during my stay and ride it. There was no line and no people. We had the whole wheel for ourselves it was about a 10 min ride, it was slow but nice and very intimate and safe. The staff was very friendly as well. The views were great as we went a little after sundown and saw a great view. I will go back once im in the area.

Something different to do for a date night. Fun and romantic, especially at night. Cool scenic route. A great view of the people, water and the city. Our ticket included a free cocktail, but the bar was closed. (I've never seen the bar open, so I question the validity of the voucher. lol) __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

How long is the Ferris Wheel ride?

It lasted about 15 mins. I went around 5 times.

Do the doors lock? I feel like my kids would try to lean on the doors to look out since the seats don't have a seat belt. I have crazy and anxiety which lead to a panic attack in the farris wheel at the Chicago pier.

I can only assume that the doors are only able to be unlocked from outside because I don't remember seeing handles while inside and the door is open by the attendant. You could call and ask to be made certain

I'm terrified of Ferris wheels, how scary is this one on a scale of one to five?

I'm scared of heights. It starts off at a 1 and then rises to about a 4.5 but after the second spin it goes down to a 3 ?

On 8 May 1999 I heard advertisements for The Joker's Jinx . I remember I didn't like the ads for the ride, but I knew I would certainly ride this ride. The day I went to the park, I rode many rides, because I know the line for this ride would be long no matter what time I went. When I finally arrived to the ride, the line was long, but there were refreshments for those in line. The lemonade hit the spot and I had plenty of time before I rode the ride to get the fluid into my system. When I saw the paint job for the Joker, I never thought emerald green and purple went well together, BUT THEY DO. Oh, I was young back then. I even bought a Joker's Jinx tee shirt. At that time I wore a large tee shirt. I don't remember what happened to the shirt, but I know I through...no...I believe I gave it to good will. When I finally got to the gated area, you had to pass by several mirrors that made you look distorted. For my first experience I went straight to the back where I had to wait a little longer. Why, because the rear is tighter? Because I like it in the rear? Or because the rear of the car is the fastest. This answer is the best answer. The front is the slowest, but the rear end gets pushed forwards because of the force of the front of the car. The middle seats are a natural point. In this case since it is a blast coaster it pretty much doesn't matter until you feel the rear end of the car moving faster from the pulling of the rest of the cars. The spiraling looks to the side way turns make this rollercoaster a lot of fun. Listening to one of the operator say "Hands Up, hands up, I wanna see your hands." Once everyone's hands were up, he would hit the go button and everyone in the coaster cars would shoot forwards. I would love to say The Joker's Jinx started the blast coasters craze, but it wouldn't be true. Still, I had a lot of fun. This ride is a steel ride and steel rides have been know to be smoother than the wooden rollercoasters. I wouldn't mind going on this ride again. I would call this a high thrill ride.

This isn't the type of adventure you can show up to on a whim. You have to schedule a visit in advance. I scheduled a date and time over the phone. They took my credit card info, a contact number and my kids' names. The first date I scheduled was cancelled due to inclement weather. Pirate Adventures called and cancelled the adventure about three hours prior to when it was supposed to start. I elected to reschedule right then. I was instructed to arrive a half hour before our adventure so the kids could get their faces painted and pick out a sash. We parked on the street a few blocks away not realizing they have a parking lot. We checked in, the kids were given name tags with their name and an alliterative adjective (ie Zig Zag Zora and Kung Fu Kieran) and then reported to the face painting and sash picking area. After face painting kids and adults boarded the boat and the Chesapeake part of the adventure began. The captain went over a few safety measures with the adults while his assistant went through guidelines with the kids. The adventure has a whole story with different parts involved that kept the seven kids on our adventure entertained. Ages ranged from probably three to fourteen. These parts included a map search, treasure hunt, key finding expedition, pirate fight and a final pirate bounty quest. For the adults, we just hung out under a shaded portion of the boat. I got up to interact with my kids a few times and to snap some pictures. Mostly I just enjoyed the boat ride. The whole adventure lasted almost two hours (counting face painting). If you have kids that love to pretend and don't mind riding a boat, Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake might be right up their alley.

The toddler Duplo area was small and many of the pieces were missing, which made it hard for kids to really play. The ride was also a bit scary for our 3-year-old. We didn't experience the movie or Bank game (both geared towards an older age). There was a small indoor play area, but it also seemed better suited for slightly older kids. When you got to the top, the boat you were in did another 180 before you flew down the hill out of the Skull's mouth and into the river of spewage. You may notice the water is clear.   There was on one occasion the 180 degree machine at the end of the ride malfunctioned and some lucky riders got to go down the final hill backwards. My mind says I did once, but I think that is a bunch of bullocks. The wait time for this ride on a hot day could be two hours or more. Once again Six Flag associates would stand by this ride selling drinks and food. I saw this bit of information about Skull Mountain's closing. I was there during the last 14 days it would be open two different times. "Six Flags America has revealed that it will close the Skull Mountain water ride on July 10, 2011, in order to make room for a new attraction that will open in 2012. The closure of the hybrid water ride/rollercoaster is set to be marked by a number of special events at the park. On June 13, a boat will be placed on Six Flags America's midway to offer unique photo opportunities for guests. Then, on July 9 and 10, Skull Mountain's demise will be commemorated as part of a special "Fare-thee-Well Weekend", including a two-day Pirate Festival. This will feature pirate makeovers and special entertainment from the cast of The Blundering Buccaneers stunt show. Those wishing to be one of the last ever riders on Skull Mountain can enter a special auction, with proceeds benefitting the Natioal Rollercoaster Museum and Archive. The park will also donate a boat from the ride to the museum following its closure. Speaking of the ride, Six Flags America's Park President John Winkler said: "For more than a decade, guests at Six Flags America have been thrilled and inspired by Skull Mountain, giving them the feeling of joining a one-of-a-kind pirates' voyage in Maryland's favorite theme park. It's a piece of history for Six Flags America and we feel it's fitting to give it one last stand." Skull Mountain opened at Six Flags America in 1997, and was originally named the Typhoon Sea Coaster. An Intamin reversing boat ride, it received its new name when it underwent a major update in 2007. A first-of-its-kind attraction, it was the tallest water-powered coaster in the world when it opened. No details have been revealed of the planned replacement for Skull Mountain, though it has been widely rumored that a new rollercoaster will open at Six Flags America in 2012." Yes, there is a new rollercoaster that took the place of Skull Mountain.  I did not care for this ride myself, but I will write about that later on.  I am just glad part of Skull Mountain is still left.  The last time I was there,  it was till up.I don't  think they took it down.  Well, at least I have the memories of riding it before it went the way of the dodo. I think people that don't like rollercoasters much or at all, might enjoy this ride, but now we will never know. I rate this ride a five, but if I could go higher, it would be a 12.

Happy 103rd Birthday to the Wild One!…read more This has to be the oldest coaster I've ever ridden. And yes, being a wooden coaster definitely has its challenges. However, I do think this is a great ride. Anyone who rides a wooden coaster definitely knows they are on the rougher side vs a more modern coaster. However if you like roller coasters, it's definitely worth a ride at least once!

For being 100 years old I really expected this coaster to be all bad like super rough and yeah but that wasn't the case on my ride in the front row as I felt it was decently smooth for being this old and wooden! I'm pretty sure this is the oldest coaster I've ever ridden and I take that into consideration when I justify the roughness of the ride as for being this old it's not that bad it's good to see that Six Flags America is keeping this 100 year old coaster in this good of condition in our nations capitol! Overall I expected a lot less of this ride and what I found on this very day is a great old school coaster that's still kicking it 100 years later so make sure you get to ride it as you never know what might happen to it in the future with all these new Hybrid Coasters popping up!

The ending helix packs some decent lateral G's, though the rest of the ride uses very little banking on the turns :\

"Pardon me, ma'am, is that bleeding boil on your face part of your costume, or are you infectious to my horrified kids?" anywhooo, my bother came to visit and for 4 years, we have gone to markoff's haunted forest (love it) but decided to give a local haunted experience a try for something different. I was a bit disappointed. BUT... I think experiences like this are very individual... I LOVE Markoff's: the time and the meticulous artistry that goes into every scene. . I like more subtle scares... Less of the pop out and startle you type of scare. Hallow, Inc. Is more of the latter... Less meticulous with their scenes, although they are new so I gave them three stars for effort. It's a great haunt in the making. Things I really enjoyed: the entrance had a sampling of zombies in cages screaming at us while we walked in to get our tix. Nice touch... Made me excited for more. I liked the premise of the story and the short movie they showed at the entrance. Again... Whet my anticipation. I appreciated all the actors, even outdoors in the sobering strip mall... They did not break character and were very dedicated to the story of it all. My vote: more dedication to the scenery next year.
