I tried for an entire year (following many different dog training videos) to get her to walk nicely on a leash and wasn't able to do it. Hazel became a constant source of stress in my life. After training with Kelly, Hazel is now calm, a great listener, can co-exist around other dogs, and walks on a leash without pulling. I can let her off leash at the park knowing her recall is 100%, which gives her a huge amount of freedom that she didn't have before. Being with my dog is now calming instead of stressful for me. The upper level classes work on "rally courses". Cons: All classes are on Margaret's land/field (this has both pros and cons). Great when it's warm and sunny or overcast, not so fun when it gets rained out or in the heat of summer. (Though many of the reschedules classes were nice, like in the cold winter/holiday months). We chose to work with Humaner Trainer because of the many recommendations from friends and neighbors. Margaret and Kathleen work by cues, marks, and positive reinforcement (by treats, praise, or play)) to the dog. They are very knowledgeable about various methods of animal training, and the pros and cons of them all. As with ANY dog training, it does require work and consistency on the part of the dog's family. Margaret gives you the basic tools to train your dog, and to keep it healthy and balanced. The longer you can work with Margaret, the more practice you and your dog will get. I love how at the completion of level 4, our pup knows how to walk well on his leash, knows how to walk to my side while watching for my cues.

When a recent trip came up and our usual house sitter was unavailable, I was delighted to see that the 'mothers are still around and still loving on Austin's pets! Thanks to Jody for checking in on our cat daily while we were away. She is AWESOME at communication. First, there were a few emails and a questionnaire to get the ball rolling, then she came and visited our home and pets and gave me a few ideas for making the experience of being left home alone far less traumatizing for our cat. While we were gone, she sent a few email updates and a photo, including a request to inform her when we returned so she would know that we were okay and our pet was too. AND she emailed the next day to check in on our cat and make sure everyone was happy. Each time, she made us feel like our cat was the most important pet in the world -- which is exactly how we, as pet owners, feel! I can tell you that this is an uncommon level of care and communication, based on my experience with other pet sitting and boarding arrangements here in Austin. The rates were great too. Since my cats are…read moreex-ferals and super suspicious of any newcomers, she apparently saw very little of them (they are excellent at hide and seek). So it wasn't too rewarding for the godmother. Nonetheless, all of our kits were safe, sound, well-fed and happy upon our return. Plus, she left us a very entertaining journal of their activities during our vacation-- and she tidied up after the little rascals. I'll definitely use the godmother(s) again whenever necessary.

So here's what my dog Patsy Cline had to say in her first official Yelp Review about her favorite Petsitter, Kris @ Fit Pup: - Kris doesn't view her time with me (Patsy) as a task or a job or a to-do list, she genuinely treats me like I'm her own pet with lots of love and care. That make me so happy and feels so good! - The time we spend together is quality - - never a rush or bunched up with a lot of other pets at the same time. That way I get ample quality time to play and Kris one-on-one as she's 100% focused on interacting with me. We play fetch or throw the ball around and even go for walks. Our family acquired a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy recently. At 8 weeks we were concerned that…read moreit would be too early to obedience train our pup. He was becoming a bit of a handful with biting and chewing. A phone call to Lillian and our pup, Ace, was well on his way to becoming a well behaved dog. Lillian even spent the time on our initial call to go over crate training and potty training. On the fist day, Lillian arrived to train Ace. In a matter of less than five minutes she taught Ace to sit! Over the course of a few lessons she taught Ace "Stay", "Down", "Come", "Fetch" and to walk on a leash without tugging. Lillian taught us quite a bit also. Most importantly how to understand why your dog behaves the way it does. If you are having any problems with your pup she will address your issues specifically. Lillian is simply amazing. She has always been available to us via phone or email. I have no doubt that if we ever needed help with training our pup we could call Lillian and she will always be there with valuable training advice and insight. She truly cares about animals and is a real joy to work with. I highly recommend her and consider one of the best in her field.

It was to the point I had considered re-homing her because I had no idea what to do. I called Lillian and spoke with her at length. She immediately gave me some great suggestions that I was able to use immediately. We scheduled an appointment for the following week. Lillian came to my house and I felt comfortable with her immediately. Not only was she able to help my dog she helped ME be able to take a deep breath and learn my dogs signals and cues and she gave me tons of strategies to use. She followed up each session with a detailed report with more resources. Always on time, always calm and quiet. My dogs love her and so do I.
