Volunteers are really trying their best here. So I give them the 3 stars for friendliness, atmosphere and clean, no gender specific bathrooms (look for the soup ladle to get the bathroom key labelled left or right). I like that they really support the community and host multiple events in a months span. When we walked in, they were hosting more than half of their space as part of the Alberta Ave craft sale going on last weekend at multiple locations. They were also offering a discount on drinks for those that had attended the pottery sale. Downside to their random event hosting, is that you never know what kind of space you're walking into. So unless you are great at knowing what's going on in the neighbourhood, best to try and check out what's happening before you're going if you're planning on having a good conversation there. This also translates seating space available. We got lucky on Saturday afternoon and had a table for 4 but lots of people were squishing in the smaller seating space provided and definitely less comfortably than us. We were well tucked in by the area for napkins, lids, water, etc. so we spent a lot of time shuffling to accommodate others access. This place might not have the best coffee around Edmonton but the London fog tea is always spot on for me. Desserts are hit and miss here. The scone I had this weekend looked fresh but it was dry (thank goodness I had tea to resolve that issue). In the past, I've had good scones, so I guess it depends on the day? Sandwiches and soup are usually pretty standard here and why we stopped as my friend was volunteering down at the pottery sale and hadn't had lunch yet. The short and long, if you're flexible with the environment you're having coffee or tea, then you'll be fine.

Really great place with an amazing philosophy. Local people (volunteers), local music, local art to create community. A little crowded sometimes. But it is so nice to go in for a latte or tea and support something wonderful Local art and jewerely are displayed for purchase. We were there to support our friend who was doing a live music gig. Fairly limited menu...soup, sandwiches, and treats. We chose tea and puff wheat squares, they were delicious and affordable. Love all the community events they host (coffee with cops, board game night, open mike etc etc.) A really good place to feel like you are a part of a community.

The carrot is a warm and cozy volunteer-powered, not-for-profit coffeehouse. They have local artist aft and crafts for sell and will often have live music. Their coffee is fair trade and good tasting. They have milk alternatives and vegan cookies!!! The staff here are always cheery and helpful. They also sell things such as croissant's, muffins, quiche, sandwiches, squares and unique drinks such as twilight fog London fog and apple cider. Try the vegan chocolate chip cookie it's delicious and not too sweet. It's a great place to go,chill, people watch and support local!! I would highly recommend

The Carrot (Community Arts Cafe) is part of Arts on the Avenue. That's a non-profit, community based, grassroots initiative engaged in developing 118th Avenue into a community arts district. Comfortable venue, with great coffee/ tea/snacks, and frequent art shows and live entertainment.

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!

The chairs are pretty standard for a venue like this and the stage set up looks pretty versatile. I liked the fact that the restroom was for all genders. There was some great art on display and for purchase as well. While this neighborhood is not one I visit frequently, it is an easily transit accessible location and there was street parking available in the area (I understand this is pretty limited when there's an event going on at the Stadium however). The building looks well weathered but well used as a live music venue. Purchasing tickets in advance was easy and the associated website was good. I'd definitely go to another show here. There is good acoustics for the venue in general. Signage isn't great -- it would be better if the building had better identification.

From the outside it still looks like a house but it's a funky house, the window coverings are pretty iconic of The Aviary already! The cool thing is, now that it's finished I can really see how much work they have put into the place! The entrance way is more like a venue (and less like walking into a living room) it brings you round to the bar and where you pay cover etc, once properly inside the space has a nice bar the length of the room, a handful of tables and chairs, decent size stage at the back, local art displayed all round and awesome sound! The vibe is cosy, and there big emphasis on supporting local artists - I dig that. I like the beer listings on the wall - mostly craft beer and Phil knows a lot about them and recommended a really nice lager to me while I was there. I already love watching bands in this space and can't wait to go back.
