They have a new menu...I was not impressed like I have been in the past. My meal was a sausage and shrimp dish with gnocchis. Three shrimp and minuscule pieces of sausage. The gnocchis were doughy and not really edible. Someone else had the filet mignon was pretty good but seemed pricey at $50. Others had Caesar salads which were decent. Appetizers were still good and the wine selection was still excellent. They had no fish entree. I was looking forward to going there but was disappointed. read more

Sometimes life treats you with the most pleasant of surprises. We didn't realize how far our campsite was from Missoula so we decided to look for something a little closer. We were never supposed to be in Missoula for dinner. A higher culinary power made sure that we would be sent to this little diamond in the rough. Our waitress was such a doll. Exuberant, personable, and genuine--we couldn't have asked for better service. This was the first time on our Montana road trip where we felt like we were truly mingling and getting to know folks. We were astonished at how amazing the food was. Too notch. The best thing was our entree size Caesar salad that we treated like an appetizer. This thing was epic. Topped with not just shrimp and anchovies but also cod and scallops! The prime rib was just what I was looking for. I couldn't come to Montana and not try the beef. Perfectly cooked with some whipped potatoes and super delicious asparagus. I'm not kidding either. The asparagus really was delicious. If we're ever in these parts again, count me in! read more

I have two favorite restaurants in SW Montana and the Catered Table is one of them. I have eaten here so many times that I have lost count. Whenever we have company, we usually take them here. Whenever we want a great night out, we also go here...... This is an actual higher end restaurant that has a chef that takes pride in their work. I have never met the chef but it is clear to me that he understands flavor profiles and how to execute them in the kitchen. Expect a dimly lit, wine-themed restaurant with linen table cloths, candles, and a pleasant ambiance. It is probably the classiest and tastiest restaurant I have been to so far in SW Montana. And while you can certainly dress to the hilt here, "Montana Formal" (nice jeans or shorts paired with a nice shirt) works too. As for the staff, everyone I have interacted with have been fabulous. They are kind and attentive to the guests. For the most part, you can't go wrong with the majority of the menu items. Although I haven't tried them all, you simply can't go wrong with the French Onion Soup, the filet mignon, the pork ribeye with cherry reduction, the special pork belly appetizer or the chocolate pecan pie. These are my go to items here. The French Onion is Incredible and very close to the French Onion Soup I've had in Paris. The broth is smooth and velvety (fir lack of a better word). My husband is fond of the stroganoff and, while I do enjoy it very much, I just can't order it when I have a good steak or pork chop on the menu. Taste is subjective and I know a lot of folks really enjoy the Moroccan Bowl, it's just not my thing. (I do love Moroccan food though.). So give that a shot if you think you will enjoy it. You do have a talented chef that knows how to cook making it for you. On Friday and Saturday nights, Prime Rib is served. It is best to make reservations on these nights and I would suggest going earlier so ensure you get it before they sell out. I LOVE the Catered Table and I hope you enjoy it too. It IS my favorite restaurant in SW Montana. Keep up the great work, Catered Table. As always, we WILL be back. read more

You know the feeling you get when the hostess walks you to the back of the restaurant and you are thinking you'll be at the worst table... well it was the best! A high top overlooking the kitchen and watched the chefs prepare all the dishes FRESH! I ordered the eggplant Parmesan and watched the chef bring it from the refrigerator and prepare it. We meant to visit here one night and try Mission Bistro the next, but the Caesar salad was so amazing (yes, salad, and I'm a dude) that we came back here again the second night. Filet Mignon Surf and Turf was a gamble that paid off. Stevensville, Montana may have the "Turf" but it's about as far from "Surf" as you get, and with the wine list featuring selections from the "Nappa Valley", this Californian was a bit skeptical. But the shrimps were huge and delicious, as was the steak, medium rare as ordered. Clearly the chef knows his stuff and I can forgive his spelling. On the second night I got the the Vin Rouge Mushrooms and the full-sized Caesar as my entree (and those shrimps again!). The salad portion side was so enormous that I faced the paradox of not being able to finish eating the best salad I've ever been served in my life. Bottle that dressing and sell it online, please! Maybe the desserts here are good too, but we'll never know--they stuffed us before we ever got that far. read more

Went out for my first solo dinner in a long time. I've been here with family but I was celebrating a pretty big personal leap. I had a lovely table. Restaurant was very busy for 6:15...service was lovely and prompt. I ordered wine and what I wanted to eat...I had come for their special prime rib. Caesar salad was just ok...it was chopped and oil and vinegar dressing...not my style but very fresh. I'm a prime rib snob...my mom made the best ever...this surpassed it. I ate every delicious bite. Potatoes were lovely...wine Pinot noir was a great choice...patrons were lovely service excellent. Creme de la crème I ordered dessert Chardonnay cake was beyond. What a lovely restaurant! My husband and I had dinner last night and enjoyed it thoroughly. The wine list is carefully curated with a good balance of known reputable producers coupled with some unique lesser known selections. Kathy the owner brought us a couple of wines to taste to decide what to order, we enjoyed a lovely bottle of pinot. Our server, Alyssa was friendly, attentive and great with helping us decide what to order. We had the caeser, beef tacos and the prime rib, all delicious. Decent Evening. For anyone planning to use Restaurant.com gift cards, please read the fine print!! They only allow one $10 gift card per visit which was disappointing and makes me want to punch the guy who created "fine print" right in the mouth...but overall, the food was good, the wine was smooth, and atmosphere was festive and comfortable. Service was sparse possibly due to them preparing for two large parties but had to wait longer than we cared for at different times. Regarding the food: -Spinach Artichoke Dip: Pita chips were great and the dip was awesome with huge chunks of artichoke! -Mac & Cheese: My 2.5 year-old son, who is obsessed with mac n' cheese didn't eat it...pretty over cooked and terrible with a texture similar to undercooked scrambled eggs. -Chicken Pot Pie: Simple and hard to mess up - always a safe bet. Oh my gosh it was the best I have ever had, and at 66 years old I have had a lot of Manhattan clam chowder soup their version was genius to say the least! Presentation phenomenal. Their recipe was AWESOME! it's a meal in itself. Please make this a constant on your menu. I was so looking forward to having our anniversary dinner here last night, but was sadly disappointed. First the good things, the staff was friendly, our waitress was efficient and very nice, my husband thoroughly enjoyed his rib eye. I had looked at their website an hour before we left the house and decided on the creamy garlic chicken served over herbed mushrooms and cauliflower risotto. I placed my order for creamy garlic chicken after seeing it on the menu ( I did not read the description, having just read it on line an hour before). When it arrived at the table, I saw a small chicken thigh, bone in, skin on, accompanied by a white watery purée. I told the waitress that I didn't order this. She then told me that now it is served with cauliflower purée, and indeed the menu in the restaurant read as such. The chicken was dry, barely chewable and the purée had an awful taste. She apologized, and said that they changed their menu 2 weeks ago. I told her that they should update their website when they make menu changes. She offered to get me something else, but since my husband was already eating, I told her to forget it. She did take 50% off the price, however I feel $12.50 is still a stiff price for a dry chicken thigh, I couldn't even take another taste of the purée cauliflower, my husband tried it and said it was awful and left a bad taste in his mouth. read more

We were looking for a fine dining experience without having to get a sitter for our 8-month old. My husband found this place and it was really close to where we live, so we thought we'd check it out. The food was excellent. We shared a baked brie appetizer and caesar salads to start. I had the chicken limon entree which was very good. My husband had bacon-wrapped filet which he loved (he's super picky about his steak being cooked mid-rare and he said the chef nailed it). It's definitely a mom and pop kind of place but super classy and we were very comfortable. The chef himself came out and asked how the meal was and our service was spot-on. We had a great experience and will recommend The Catered Table as a great family-friendly place to go for fine dining. Lastly, I was pretty disappointed in Yelp's summation of this place. On the mobile platform, only one horribly negative review showed up and it almost kept us from going there. Later, when we went to write our review because we had such a great experience, so contrary to what the review we had read implied, we saw that there are many great reviews for them too - they're just not visible or taken into account for Yelp's rating of the restaurant. It's great and I hope you're not turned off by the one person who wrote a bad review. It's delicious and surprisingly affordable. Oh! And they have awesome specials! I took my family here for a dinner recently and was very impressed with the high quality of the food. I found The Catered Table via an app on my phone, and was immediately led to the Yelp reviews. Admittedly, the one star review by "Ryan B." was so scathing that I wanted to shy away from it - but the restaurant's website seemed to portray a completely different atmosphere, so I decided to try it out. Fortunate for me! I had the Filet Mignon (wrapped in bacon) and it was delicious. The insinuation of microwaved food is simply insulting after eating the filet. It was perfectly cooked medium rare and the bacon complimented it wonderfully. The garlic mash was a little too garlicky, but not enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. All of this for a very affordable price! My meal and my wife's was around $50 - very reasonable for the exceptional quality of food I would highly recommend The Catered Table to anybody looking for a top-notch place to take their date. read more
