Came here after a middle school volleyball game. Located in Estacada. It had a huge menu and some light bites too. Service was great. They were able to accommodate our big group. Has an old school like pioneer feel. There was a bar area and a restaurant area. Near the Clackamas river so had a pretty view of the water while we ate. Prices were decent. read more

I went the other night. They have one person working in the bar and restaurant a signet restaurant closed, see bartender. If you could find him we made when we got our food. One dish was completely wrong, but loved is with the old onion rings that look like grease has not been changed in years. He mentioned it to the bartender twice they offered to do anything for it when the bill changed if it was an extra charge for the onion rings he finally took it off the sandwich. It is not the best steakhouse in town. I don't recommend going I know business is slow, but they have plenty of of customers. read more

No sauce, no coleslaw and the waitress didn't even come back to tell us they were out of anything if I wanted to order something else. Just brought it dry meat on a bun. I didn't eat it. Everything seemed like it was a day or two old and not cooked properly, tater tots were raw, like ice cold in the middle. How do you mess up tater tots? Every single person from our group will never be back again as it was one of the single most disappointing restaurant experiences we've ever had. We stopped in The Caz for a local steak dinner. We hadn't been here in years so we wanted to give them a fresh review. The restaurant itself appears clean, with basic tables and chairs. It's a comfy dining area without any fancy frills... except for the view. We love the lake view from the windows. Our server was friendly and efficient. It appeared there was just one server and limited chefs on a busier than normal evening. That made service a bit slow but not from a lack of the staff hustling. We chose the ribeye & NY strip dinners and an appetizer of jalapeño popper dip. The steaks were grilled perfectly and seasoned nicely. The sides were all tasty as well. The popper dip was really good but I wish there was more bread served with it. The few pieces of bread we got was only enough for about 1/3 of the dip even loading them up with dip. Overall it was a nice dinner with a great view and friendly service. We'll be back to try more meals soon. read more

It's been a while, but we decided to give this place another go. We called to see when live music would start (because we were hoping for quiet meal) and were told we needed to make a reservation. When we arrived 5 minutes prior we stood in the reception area for 10 minutes, waiting to be escorted to a table. A young lady was standing at the end of the hallway and never acknowledged us the whole time. Fortunately, an older gentleman appeared out of the kitchen and asked if we'd been helped yet. When we said "Not yet!" he went back and rustled up a server for us. We were surprised there were only two tables occupied at the time and wondered why we had needed a reservation. Our server brought waters and menus, then she disappeared for a good while. We both ordered the prime rib special and received our drinks after a short while. 40 minutes later our food arrived in spite of the fact only one other table became occupied while we waited. It was lukewarm, probably because our inattentive server didn't notice the orders were plated for a while. Fortunately, the cook is pretty good, because the prime rib was done right and very tasty, even though barely warm. Excellent veggie blend and real mashed potatoes. Also barely warm. Our dinner was constantly interrupted by shouting from the kitchen, but not by our server who never came back to check on us until the male server (who seemed to be doing a good job) noticed we were finished for a good while and apparently notified our server. Good help is obviously hard to find and I feel sorry for the owner who is trying to make a go of this place. Maybe better training/supervision? In any case, we won't be in a hurry to come back. read more

Drove there specifically for the Bloody Marys that was on the menu but apparently don't have. About half the food was good (breakfast stuff) the other items off the lunch menu (Mac & cheese/ chicken strips) disgusting. It took two hours just to get one round of drinks and our food served. I have been coming here since I could seat in a booster seat, I have seen many different versions of the menu and owners lowest. During 10-4pm you can't order any appetizers which seems weird since it's a bar. While the quality is decent I feel their new menu will push away regulars. I live in Estacada and heard this to be a good place to eat. So took my wife to your place for dinner last Saturday. Went in and waited for hostess. She said it would be a few minutes to seat us so I said that's fine and that to come get us at bar when ready. So after more than 30 minutes I went back to see how much longer and waited another 5 to 10 minutes and no one around then looked in restaurant and was only a few tables seated. Went back to bar got my wife came back to restaurant and saw hostess across room writing, waited another 5 minutes and could not even get eye contact or a word from her acknowledging us. So I said this is terrible service as we left. Rarely do I write reviews but the service was a joke. My family works in the restaurant business so I know how things can be sometimes. I thought the owner needs to know about the shit service. I cannot recommend this place. Zero stars. I would be embarrassed and disappointed if that was my employee. The food was extremely bland. From the Mac n cheese, to the steak, but I was most upset that the mashed potatoes tasted like NOTHING. Didn't even get a hint of salt. So disappointing. The alfredo pasta was just watery with an excessive amount of chunks of garlic. Desserts were dry and not tasty whatsoever. The service was not good. From the time our order was taken to food coming out was 30+mins. No checking in or anything. No refills. There was flies landing on our table/group. I've given The Cazadero multiple chances, hoping it would improve, but it just hasn't. Every time I've visited, they are consistently short staffed, which results in long waits for drinks and even longer waits for food. The servers and bartenders who are working do their best, but it's obvious they are overwhelmed. On top of that, the food quality is inconsistent, sometimes good, other times poorly prepared or missing items. Being in a small community, the owner seems to rely on the goodwill of the community but isn't involved in fixing the issues. The employees are left working understaffed and expected to juggle too much at once, which hurts both them and the customers' experience. It seems that ownership should be more involved and assist the staff more if staffing is such a concern. At this point, reducing operating hours or closing certain days until staffing is figured out would make far more sense than continuing to run things this way. The bathrooms are consistently dirty and neglected, which makes me question how well the rest of the restaurant is maintained. This place could be a great local spot, with beautiful river views but after several tries, it's clear that nothing is changing. Without stronger management involvement and real investment in staffing and upkeep, I cannot recommend eating here. read more

Two stars because our server was very nice and did what he could quickly, but it took close to 45 minutes for our food (3 of us) to arrive. My potatoes were luke warm and my Ham and Cheese Omelette I think only had half an egg? It was a weird omelette with little seasoning. The two others in my party were not happy with their meals either. One of my friends ordered a sandwich and asked for a substitution on it, which the server repeated back and promised to make sure the substitution happened. When mine and the other friends meals came out, my friend who asked for the substitution was asked by the server, "you didn't want xxxx on your sandwich, right?" To which she said he was correct. Off he ran to the kitchen - he was back 10 minutes later with her updated sandwich. Even though he has asked/noted the substitution, the kitchen made the sandwich 'normal'. Additionally, when we were ordering, the server had to state multiple times that they were out of certain items and that the menu was going to be updated soon. Oh yes, the Bloody Mary... that was good - along with the very nice view. But we do not plan on coming back. read more

We ordered a steak salad & a steak dinner with the loaded baked potato & mixed vegetables - both were delicious. Every table was full and the servers did great. The view is beautiful. Seen the little robot helper Plato which is more for entertainment- I would suggest putting your money into keeping your human servers, they ran circles around it. read more

However, as of a few months ago they have a new chef, and I am compelled to uncloak and tell you that the new chef is great. I hope they keep him. OK here's the thing! We had been going here when the previous owners owned until they changed ownership a few years ago for the last 30 + some years. Then Covid hit. We had not been actually out to dinner since before Covid, but decided to go back to our old, beloved, stomping grounds, hoping for much improvement! There's no way to improve on the food here new management, we see it's not happening! The old Cazadero while not great for interior decorating had fabulous food and seafood dinners, especially the stuffed halibut, and their soups & desserts were amazing as well! Never had a complaint about the food or the waitstaff. Enter last night we decided to give it a shot! It's about a 15 minute drive for us from Redland to Estacada and it was dark cold and rainy. We walked inside and was quickly greeted by an adorable train set -up although it was not working , with the whole town of Estacada back in the day complete with Sasquatch , Bagby Hot Springs , the town, which was absolutely adorable which we wish had been working so we could've seen the train run through it. Cutest train set -up we've ever seen! We could see a lot has been done to update and remodel" the bar " , their bigger money maker as well as when you first walk in the lobby area of the restaurant but pretty much the same as it always was in the back along the windows of the dining area where you get views of the beautiful Clackamas River. The waitress we had was new sweet and adorable, and we really enjoyed visiting with her. Wait time for the food was not too bad. The food was just typical bar/grill food. Nothing amazing about it! We are very tired of watering hole/bar/grills. That seems to be all that pops up any more promoting alcoholic drinks. My husband had fish & chips, nothing to write home about that you don't already get from a box of frozen cod at your local grocery store. He tried the truffle fries, which were nothing eventful. I had a side dish of the cheesy penne pasta, which was mediocre to me , I also ordered a side of steamer clams, which were bitter and lacked clams in the shell's not even sunk on the bottom of bowl in broth. Basically 12 bucks for about 7 tiny tiny tidbit bites. We both ordered the clam chowder that we think they added some kind of lemon juice to it. It was so so! Again, nothing to write home about! We love desserts, and you walk in and see these delicious tempting cakes in a glass cooler display. In either my husbands nor my entire life have we ever had to send back a bad dessert! We ordered one slice of some kind of salted caramel cake we had planned to split and we both took one bite and shoved it away! Not only was it sickeningly sweet and so many flavors going on you couldn't identify any of them, but the worst part was, it was dry as a bone and hard and stale. Thankfully the waitress deducted that from our bill and removed from our table at our request but still what little we ate and we just had water to drink came to $40!!!!! Really? In the Redland Oregon City Estacada area there's not any really nice restaurants you can go to that serve up meals like the old Cazadero used too. We feel lucky for all the years we got to go to Cazadero for date nights and have fabulous seafood dinners in our backyard neighborhood . So saddened that with the newer additions they made on the interior that they couldn't of kept a lot of what the old Cazadero used to serve or even do a spin of their own with some delicious " quality" dinners. When you don't eat much beef and look forward to a seafood/shellfish or poultry dinner out ,this isn't the place you want to go in our opinions. What an absolute shame that that couldn't be continued on and been more like the old Cazadero. The cute little train/town decor isn't enough to bring us back for lousy typical bar food again. And why or why oh why couldn't the new owners add a deck outside for dining in the summer and early fall! Really? Instead you remodel the stupid bar and for pete's sake, that what everybody could have enjoyed was outside seating. What a waste of money so in essence, we are never returning. Don't waste your money unless you want to visit with the sweet staff or look at a model train village that wasn't even operating. So disappointed. read more

Worth the drive! The food was delicious, the service was excellent (Laura is fabulous!) and the view was beautiful. If you have a child who is at all interested in robots this is a must stop! We made a trip to Estacada specifically to eat at the Cazadero because they have a robot who assists the servers. If a robot assistant isn't your thing, the food and view were also worth the trip. The lemons are fresh squeezed, making the lemonade delicious. My kiddo had a waffle which came loaded with fruit compote and whip cream. In our party we also ordered fried zucchini appetizer, French dip sandwiches with fries, and a ham and cheese scramble. The portions were large and everything tasted fresh. The fries were crunchy and not greasy. I had at least a bite of everything and I enjoyed them all. Next time I plan on ordering the Benedict, breakfast is served until 5. Laura, the employee who helped us, learned my 9 year old was interested in robots and she took the time to talk about how Plato works. My kiddo was able to program Plato and tickle his face which makes him smile. Laura also talked to my kiddo about the model train and the murals in the restaurant. Laura also offered some suggestions for things for us to do since we live about 90 minutes away. Overall a memorable experience! Thank you to Laura and Plato for making our meal extra fun. read more

Food has always been good here with the most recent owners but seems like there is still a struggle to keep enough staff. I think the revamped menu was smart but unfortunately the inconsistency with service and what have seemed like frequent changes with the menu have kept us from frequenting here. Great river view in the back part of the building. Lots of light and nice and open. Seating feels a bit compac. The front part of the building could use a little more light. Food leaves something to be desired. Consistency could be better. Soups have been pretty good on occasion, sometimes too salty. Events have been good. Service has its moments of excellence. Then there are times where it takes a good while to get in an order, even when it's slow/slower. read more

I haven't been here for at least 12 years, when under prior owners the food and service was less than expected. I and my wife were pleasantly surprised when we took advantage of a Facebook deal and arrived at 5:20 on Saturday night. We had excellent service, very good food with large portions, great house wine, and all for a very reasonable price while seated with a beautiful view of the Clackamas River. I had baby back ribs with sautéed vegetables and basmatti rice, all were excellent for $23. A house salad for $9 had pear, sweetened walnuts, crumbled cheese was also very good. My wife had a 6 ounce sirloin, sautéed vegetables and French fries for $22. She also said all was excellent. Also had fried pickles which were very good for $10. House wine was very inexpensive and surprisingly very good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food arrived quickly. All in all, a very lovely dinner with wonderful view. We will be back. read more
