    Onion rings...good ones.
    Michael H.

The food was very good. I think it was a great value. Service was very good. I think I mentioned the last time that they asked if we wanted everything at one time or to space things out...they did that again. A little thing but a lot of places don't give you a choice. Ambiance. It is a small town bar...lounge...restaurant. And a good one. Not too loud, but not quiet. Good food that seems like a good value to me and the staff really seem to care about the customers. The greater Portland area has an abundance of good to great places but this place is high on our list of places to keep in mind to stop in now and then...I actually think it is worth a detour to stop in!

    Bacon wrapped tots

This was our first time having dinner at Old Mill. We stopped in on a weekday when it was very quiet. There were only 3 other tables seated. Our server was friendly but didn't really seem to know much about the food being served. We asked a few questions about different items but didn't get much feedback. We went with an appetizer of bacon wrapped tots and dinners of a chicken fried steak and a BLT. The tots looked fried well but it was only on the surface. The bacon was raw in the middle and the tots were a little soggy. The chicken fried steak was ok. It wasn't fried long enough so the batter was undercooked. The fries and veggies were good. The BLT was good. Lots of bacon on it. The onion rings, again, weren't fried long enough so the batter was slightly raw on the inside. We left a lot of food on the plates because the raw batters, raw bacon and soggy tots just wasn't appetizing. Since it was just our first time having a full meal here we're not considering this spot a total dud. We'll likely be back to try some other options and I can update then.

25 minutes in an empty place... never even got seated. I couldn't even sit in the bar... Unfriendly, stuck up atmosphere. Clean restaurant but Mismatch vibes/style. Menu was RIDICULOUSLY priced. Can spend the same amount of money somewhere much nicer OR somewhere cheaper and get enough food! Ended up just leaving without ordering so I don't know how food is. (°°)(ノ益)ノ彡

    NOT a hoagie. Ew.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

Close enough to PDX hotels to Uber. The food was spectacular. The salads are huge. The ribs looked amazing. The lamb meatloaf was extremely tasty and the chicken pesto fettuccine was able to be made without fettuccine for me with just extra veggies and it was stellar. They did not even balk at substituting the extra veggies.. the swordfish special with the mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus was awesome. Everything was cooked to perfection and our waiter. Torben was the highlight. He had a wonderful, can-do attitude, very accommodating and extremely friendly. He really treated us amazing and his workplace as though restaurant was his taking pride in his job. The desserts that walked by our table made me wish I had only shared a meal with someone. Great service, great drinks, and the best pizza I've had in decades!…read more The beers Backwoods makes are all delicious and smooth-drinking. The service staff was all exceptional. But the pizza! Off the charts!, FULL REVIEW of all Services: If anyone who enjoys hiking, river fishing, or just a general outdoor-focused vacation wants a good, simple getaway with their spouse/loved one, check out the Backwoods brand in Carson, Washington (just north-northeast of Bridge of the Gods/Cascades Locks). Backwoods Cabins offers a really great overnight stay option. The 8 cabins there are all basic "two-room" designs (bedroom and attached bathroom, and a living room / mini-kitchen room). The cabins sport king-sized beds, a gas fireplace and outdoor fire, a mini kitchen with refrigerator/freezer and microwave (no stove/range). I think 3 of the 8 cabins welcome dogs. The Backwoods brand also owns Backwoods Brewery, which is just across the road from the cabin property. They have great microbrew beers (from light lagers to GREAT stouts!). The brewery also has a smokehouse, with fantastic smoked brisket, pulled pork, and house-made sausage/brats. But even better, the Backwoods Brewery offers the BEST PIZZA I've had in decades. The pizza dough is a perfect balance of flavor and texture. It's not too thin and not too thick. The crust is chewy in the middle, with a great crusty edge and base. The red sauce (they also have a white sauce we didn't try) is thick and rich, with a few tomato chunks. It's got a slight spicy bite with a sweet finish. They also have some unique house pizzas. We tried the Whistle Punk - Red sauce, bacon, smoked brisket, peppadew peppers, sweet onions, fresh mozzarella rounds - and the Pepperoni Express - Red sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, tomatoes, banana peppers, smoked mozzarella. Both were outstanding. I'd go so far as to say both Donna and I deemed these the best pizzas we've had in 35+ years (noting that our first date was at a pizza joint in Fife we both thought was the best-ever pizza). If you stay in the Backwoods Cabins, you get two coupons for free drinks at the brewery (beer/wine/cider/cocktails) as well as an assortment of snacks for your hiking adventures, and a full S'mores kit to use over the gas fire pit. And if you are in a dog-friendly cabin, you get complimentary treats, and water/food bowls for your canines.

Gluten free review:…read more Came here after a hike because I believe in balance, climb a hill, eat a pizza. Thrilled they had gluten-free options. Tried the Tree Hugger 10" GF pizza and it was genuinely tasty. The crust? So good. The staff? Kind. The price? About $20, which felt a little "ouch," but the pizza did not, and that's what matters. The place was fun and great ambiance. Take a fun trip and go try this place out.
