I had to get some mats cut to fit some frames that I brought in. The smaller one was printed in…read moresome odd dimensions; I got a 10x13 frame and had the mat cut down to size. At first I wanted the mat to be the same size around all edges, but Ron expressed his concern for cutting off the artwork. After I looked around the shop a little, I agreed that a mat cut with the tops and bottoms not being the same size as the sides would be fine. He crunched some numbers and gave me a receipt for the smaller one, and an estimate for the larger one if he had to grab a new mat for it. One of the frames I had brought in came with a precut mat for some previous artwork in the frame. To cut down on costs, he offered to cut the mat to fit first. That didn't work, mostly because the cuts were too tight, and the previous artwork had some sticky tape left around the borders. Ron called to make sure I was okay with him moving ahead with cutting another mat for it. When I came in to pick them up, not only had he repositioned the mounting hardware on the smaller one so it would hang in portrait orientation, but he had also finished the back side of the bigger one, complete with protective paper and hanging wire. He also helped carry the bigger one out to my trunk on a rainy day. Overall, really satisfied, highly recommend, and I'm glad I didn't go to Michael's instead haha.

I called Chris first to find out if this is the kind of work he does and then I visited. Seeing the quality of the work they do, I didn't hesitate to leave my painting to be stretched. Not only did Chris do an excellent job, he added a heavy paper backing for me to protect the canvas as well as hanging wire. Now all I have to do is hang it! I was looking for a recommendation for a framing shop for some paintings, and CR Framing came…read morehighly recommended. The shop is located a couple blocks off the main drag in Brentwood but GPS pointed the way. I found Chris friendly, knowledgeable and professional for consulting on my framing needs. Several paintings were for future sale, and one I wanted to display at home. The three paintings for sale could get a lower overall price if I selected the same frame/mats as Chris explained they pass on a quantity/materials discount. For the painting we would keep I chose a slightly more expensive frame and UV protected plexiglass. CR has a wide variety of frames and mats: one wall with frames in stock that are less expensive and have a faster turnaround, fancier frames that need to be ordered are on the opposite wall. Glass options range from normal glass all the way up to museum quality material with varying degrees of price, weight and light-protective qualities. Thinking in advance on the size of frame and mat for your picture always helps. The finished framed paintings looked great - the right frame makes such a difference! I intend to return to CR for all my framing needs in the future.

I have a ton of stuff to be framed, and brought the first project in a few few weeks ago, which would be a bit of a challenge: the original artwork was signed on the mat--which had become stained over the years--but I wanted to somehow preserve the signature. William did a great job reframing the artwork and preserving the original signature. I've recently dropped off a second piece of art to be reframed; I hope to gradually make progress filling my walls with beautifully-framed art that's been sitting in the back of closets, or stored unframed until now.
