I had a last minute idea to make a custom stamp for my daughter's wedding that was happening in a week. Unfortunately for me, the business was swamped and Margaret, the owner, warned me that she couldn't make any promises to get it done as quickly as I wanted, but reading all her great reviews on yelp, I crossed my fingers and had her do the job anyway. I provided her with crappy low resolution artwork and she turned into a great looking stamp ...ahead of schedule!! I wish I had more use for stamping projects so I could give her more business because she does great work, plus (and just as important), she is a sweet person to work with. So the next best thing I can do is to give her rave reviews on yelp so she'll get more business from others. Thank you Margaret for the great work! read more

Nice local business with very friendly employees. We were happy with the stamps we had made here. Not inexpensive, though. CALL BEFORE HEADING OVER. We made the mistake of swinging by one day during normal store hours only to find the shop closed up as the owner was taking her dogs for a walk (and not during the 'normal' walk times listed on the door). I hate having my time wasted, so this is why I knocked off a star. read more

Great local business! I was shopping around for a custom rubber stamp for my business. After checking out countless of other places, I found West Valley Rubber Stamp. I was able to email my design and pay over the phone, which was AWESOME. The whole thing was completely painless. I was given a 48 hour turn around time on my order. My custom stamp was ready when promised and looked great! The price was about half of what I had been quoted from other stamp makers as well. I was planning on buying an ink pad from a big box store but decided to buy it there since my experience was so great. I have a surprisingly large need for rubberstamps, and Margaret at West Valley Rubber Stamps has taken amazing care of all of my custom rubberstamp needs over the last seven or so years. She is a talented maker, very knowledgeable about her industry, and her customer service is beyond friendly, because she is also incredibly organized and saves details in her records that have helped me tremendously. I found West Valley Rubber Stamps online throughout my searches for a new stamp for the office I work at. We are out of Massachusetts and the stamps arrived just 4-5 days after I placed my order (over a weekend). Before ordering I spoke with the sweetest woman on the phone, Margaret, I had a bunch of silly questions, such as sizing and what she thought would be best and I told her my needs and she helped me pick something that would work best for the money. She spoke with me for over 10 minutes and couldn't have been nicer. After my interaction on the phone with her she has been emailing with me back and forth to let me know the status, and even apologized for a delay because they were out on Friday. (The apology wasn't needed at all! :) ) You don't see customer service like this very often, above and beyond! Great job West Valley Rubber Stamp! I'm so happy I was able to support a local business, even though I'm not so local! read more

History

Established in 1983.

In 1983, my mother purchased an existing business called Reseda Rubber Stamp in Reseda, California. Her motivation for purchasing the business was to provide for her family since she was widowed a few years earlier. At the beginning, I had very little interest in learning how to make rubber stamps but learned nevertheless. In 1992, we were struck with the Northridge Earthquake. It stopped business until all businesses in the immediate and surrounding areas could rebuild their facilities and clean up the mess. Luckily, we had been doing business with UCLA for a number of years and could rely on some income from that until the remainder of our client base could get back on track. In 1999, we moved to Canoga Park. It wasn't until 2008 that I started West Valley Rubber Stamp. My mother retired that year and closed her business. I am carrying on the business that I love and share the work with the love of my life, Brannon. We hope 2012 and beyond brings new and exciting products.

Meet the Business Owner: Margaret R.

I started making rubber stamps when I was 16. Through the years and with the help of many individuals in the industry, we were able to learn the trade very quickly and build the business. In the early days, I was involved in the industry club scene which existed of many Rubber Stamp Manufacturers (RSM's) like myself throughout California. I was the prestigious Secretary/Treasurer of the Southern California Marking Club. It doesn't exist anymore but there is an international group called the International Marking Industry Association (IMIA). In my 20's, I went back to school to learn business management, sales & marketing and helped to make the business more technologically current. Since then, we have enjoyed steady growth. In 2008, I started on my own and have been striving to develop other product lines and services.
