I finally made my way out to the Centennial thanks to a group happy hour. I was excited since I think it bills itself as somewhat of a dive...but can a redone/new bar with craft beers really be a dive? No, but doesn't mean it is bad either! Basically this is a decent sized place that probably used to be a dive but has now been done up into a funky, dive-ish bar. Plenty of TVs. Bar seating or table seating. There's also a back area with corn hole and a decent sized back patio also. I don't normally drink beer as it is too filling so I stuck with Tito's and soda. They were good pours and the guy working made sure mine was never empty and he also could remember everyone's name/drink after talking to them. He's clearly drinking less than me if he can do that! Basically a no frills, fun place to get some drinks at happy hour, relax on the patio, and maybe play some corn hole. read more

While everywhere else seems to be targeting the crowd that can afford to spend $15-30 for food at dinner, The Centennial is happy to appease us commoners by offering a cozy neighborhood gathering place and watering hole for a much more reasonable price point. My fiancee and I met some friends here for drinks/dinner last night and were very impressed by the little place. When you drive up, you don't think much of the building it's in but it's all about what's inside. It tries to be a little neighborhood bar where The Nations-ers can gather to watch sports, play Jenga, and generally enjoy each other's company. Two of the owners are heavily involved (read: they work there) in the place and they make sure the service and quality are top notch. Cold beer on an interesting draft list lovingly title "Local, Free Range Beers" and quality, tasty, reasonably proportioned and reasonably priced ($8-12) food options could make this a winner. I had the veggie taco special which came with three delicious tacos with what I think was Korean spiced cauliflower, guacamole paste, and carrots. Had a Black Abbey Guy Fawkes beer to drink. Fiancee had the turkey club which was also high quality and reasonably proportioned. Pros: Portion sizes, price, service, not being pretentious. Cons: It's not trying to be pretentious or anything but a quality neighborhood watering hole. As such, if you're looking for a more upscale dining experience, you might look elsewhere. The finishes, presentation, and fixtures reflect what they're trying to do with the place, which I personally enjoyed. Overall: More little neighborhood pubs like this could be used all over Nashville. Everyone seems to be doing the same thing (local, organic, upscale, modern, etc.) and The Centennial strives to be different, less pretentious, and more focused on the enjoyable qualities a neighborhood bar should have. read more

This place is really great. Very casual, but a beautiful wooden bar and solid food. You can tell a lot of thought has been put into the beer menu and the food menu: the little touches are evident. Good price point; great Happy Hour 3-7pm Monday-Friday. With regards to the food, I've had the wings (Centennial Sauce!), Spicy Chicken Sandwich (y'all, it really is spicy!), the Ruben, and the Califlower Tacos many times. Everything has been delicious. The menu isn't huge--there are maybe only eight items, but they are done well. I'm OK with that. Chips are home-sliced. The drink selection is good too; lots of different beers and a great well tequila--no, really. There is not a lack for burger and sandwich places around Charlotte Pike,but this little gem is an unpretentious, neighborhood bar perfect for The Nations. Since I've been in Nashville I've been going to Centennial. The food is delicious, and the price is so reasonable. The staff is friendly, helpful, and are a bit part of the charm of the business. The drinks are cheap and good. read more

This place is a fun, super simple neighborhood bar. Drink prices are good and their beer list is extensive and full of some hard to come by beers as well as some good ole American classics. The bartender, who is the owner, was very friendly and worked hard to make sure folks weren't waiting long for a drink. The crowd was laid back and didn't seem like there were any weirdos or troublemakers in sight.... this could be because they proudly display a list of people no longer welcome back. This cracked me up! They have outdoor areas with dart boards and tables in back. There is quite a bit of parking in their lot and plenty of street parking nearby. read more

Great "small town bar" vibe! Makes me miss the hole-in-the-wall places where I'm from. Not too big and definitely nothing to look at from the outside, but the inside says "Welcome! Come on in and grab a beer!". They have old school darts (with chalk to keep score) and some cornhole boards in the back "yard". The only downside is that there isn't a pool table. Also, the back "yard" really needed to be mowed before I would venture back there. If these two things were addressed, I'd say it would be my new favorite bar! read more

I enjoyed this place more some years back. It has changed. Good beers. Dive vibe but not prices. It seems to want to be a sports bar, dive bar, locals only bar, heavy metal night bar, we're all about Patrick bar, etc. The staff can be super cool to standoffish. It can get loud. One of our favorite spots now. The staff couldn't be friendlier, they always ask for your name. The bar is always clean. We've always had prompt service. They're one of the few places in the whole city that serve reasonably priced drinks and a meal. The first few times I ordered a burger because I thought it would just be normal bar food--but I've been so pleasantly surprised. Their fried green beans and queso--wow. Just order it. Their centennial wings have such a unique sauce. The spicy chicken sandwich is the only grilled chicken sandwich I have ever ordered more than once. My favorite though, is catching a Preds game on Taco Tuesday. One of the best tacos I have ever had. Props to the kitchen and staff! read more

They have everything you'd want in your local bar. My girlfriend and I have been looking for the best wing spot in Nashville and the centennial wings are our favorite. Usually we split a burger with wings because we don't want to miss out on either. So disappointing! I added their Patrick Swayze event to my calendar SEVERAL months ago based on the Facebook Event, with plans for my parents to join me for lunch at 11 because my mom has been a Patrick Swayze fan since the 80s. We arrived at 11 to find out OH NO restaurant doesn't open until 12 today but actually the EVENT doesn't start until 3. WTF?!?! Whoever does the social media updates needs to get with it! Great little neighborhood bar. Nice selection of local beers and a small menu but bursting with deliciousness. The Centennial has a little patio and a decent amount of parking. If you live in the neighborhood I would just recommend walking. Try the burger and the Turkey club. The crowd age range is between 30 and 60, casual dress. read more

While there is nothing wrong with this place, a 5-star rating on Yelp is certainly misleading. It's a dive bar with not a lot more to claim. Food was decent but not notable. Beer selection was pedestrian. Service was casual in a way that made our presence seem optional. There was no discernible vibe or atmosphere in the place... however, it appears to be an elite place to watch "Family Feud" on multiple screens. read more

The Centennial is a hidden gem just around the corner from my house. Certainly not fancy or pretentious, which is exactly what I look for in a neighborhood bar. This place has it all though. Thoughtful beer selection, great liquor, wonderful bar fare, games & trivia, loaner phone chargers, excellent outdoor seating and last but definitely not least, the nicest owners in Nashville working the bar. The atmosphere is very laid back and could not be more welcoming due to the very outgoing and sincere owners who make you feel like a regular from the minute you sit down. Justin and Nate are the best and I look forward to every visit. I struggled with posting a review because I don't want the word to get out on this place, but it's just too good of a spot not to proclaim it publicly. I love this place. I'm always looking for that perfect watering hole after work, or a great place to watch the game. This has slowly become my favorite spot to do both. Fun bar with a good vibe, friendly staff and great cauliflower tacos. They open early for West Ham games and pour a perfect pint of Guinness. They also have a nice mix of other beers on tap. They have a couple of dart boards and some yard games. read more

Impressed! Curious about this new place since I pass it everyday while taking the kiddos to school. Noticed it for the first time last week and so I stopped in today with both my boys. I ordered the grilled cheese and it was honestly the best grilled cheese I've ever had! Different cheeses and tomatoes. Both my boys ordered (devoured) 2 cheese burgers. They were both gone before I had a chance to steal a bite. Apparently they were extremely good. I loved the hand-cut potato chips. There are a few more menu items I'm interested in trying now. We will be frequenting this place often. 2 of the 3 owners/investors, Scott and Justin, were there and sat down to talk with us. They pretty much do it all, very invested investors. Both guys were very friendly and inviting. My boys have already begged to go back again tomorrow! Scott and Justin mentioned that they are in the process of adding more options to their menu, as it is a bit limited right now (only because they opened just 2 weeks ago). But I have to say that judging by the food they are currently offering, I'm looking forward to trying more. Oh, and it seemed they also have an extensive beer list - shown on the backside of the menu. Confusing it with a "kids menu" my boys thought that the Peanut Butter ale sounded good.
