I like how easy it was to make appointments and how accommodating and friendly the office staff has been. For the past two visits, both appointments have been nearly all on-time, which I appreciate. The facility also has an in-house X-ray technician and machine, which cuts down on time. I can't emphasize on how much I really appreciate the aspect of how efficient the entire team there works. As strange as it may sound, I couldn't help but to feel like I am guilty of wasting everyone's time there, and I felt rushed and flushed out of there quickly. Yes, I love physicians who are on time and the office so efficient that I waltz out of there happy and ready to get on with the rest of my day. Maybe it's just me who felt bad about the reasons and cause of issues I have presented and I felt like there's really nothing anyone can do about it. Maybe I should just call it disappointment. I'm not sure. Whatever the case is, I will just go back to my regular orthopedic office I've come accustomed to. read more

I needed foot surgery, I was referred by another podiatrist because he felt that the surgery was too complicated for him. I was sent to Dr Feldman. He was very confident that he could give do the surgery and improve my quality of life as it pertained to my foot pain and issues. I am going to be honest, there was a good amount of work done to my foot. Repair a plantar plate, fix a mild bunion, and remove 2 neuromas. He said he needed to shorten the second toe. I did everything that he told me to do. I did physical therapy in his office for the full recommended time. I went every week wearing 2 masks in a crowded office. I did all recommendations...Alex Brinlee my PT was excellent. However, Dr Feldman kept pushing the goalpost when I was not pain-free with the right amount of mobility in my foot. First, it was, give it 3 or 4 months....then, it takes at least 6 months, then, 9 months I am sure it will be better, and finally, this usually takes a year...Well, we are about 1.5 years post and my second toe doesn't move, the pain barefoot is the same or worse and I STILL can only wear sneakers comfortably. I cannot WEAR a small wedge or simple ONE inch heel. He said that I would be able to wear better shoes and was VERY confident. One visit that I had where I was complaining about my pain and the thickness on my foot, he ASSURED me that the thickness GOES AWAY and also told me that my x-ray was beautiful. Hmmm...Oh, I am glad my x-ray looks so lovely but how about you acknowledge how the PATIENT feels? I definitely felt he was being extremely arrogant. So, as time has gone on, I am very grateful that I can walk. I am grateful that I have my foot! But not happy with the outcome of my surgery. I did NOT want to post this review, but I wrote Dr Feldman a letter letting him know of my displeasure. Of course, he did NOT respond to me. That in itself speaks volumes. I want say that while I do NOT think that Dr. Feldman did anything WRONG. It just happened but his arrogance and lack of solutions are what is disappointing. Oh, let me not forget to mention that he recommended that I "protect my investment" by purchasing $300 custom insoles that HURT SO MUCH I CANNOT WEAR them. A total waste of money. Think twice about going to this practice!!!! Is this the type of doctor you want? Arrogance and no offering of better solutions to what a patient considers a FAILED surgery? read more

Dr. Christopher Raffo is an excellent doctor with an excellent team who are Janae Battle the receptionist and Janae Battle the medical assistant. They are all honest, professional, compassionate, personal and care about their clients, which I am proud to say I'm one of them. Originally I went to see Dr. Raffo because I was worried about my osteoporosis because I woke up one morning, and my hip, lower back was hurting and had tingling with pain in my lower back, but because I had gotten the Demosumab Injection for my bones I was worried about getting an x-rays so I prolonged the appointment. My left back muscles were hurting and causing pain. By the time my appointment came the pain had subsided. Because I work in a café it is just a matter of time before the pain comes back and starts to bother me again, so I talked to Dr. Raffo about starting back up with physical therapy. I've been both here and the Germantown location. Dr. Raffo has been fantastic. He's very nice, approachable, and asked good questions. He talks quickly so be sure to ask questions when you have them. Also because of that I have forgotten to ask him a question or two. I just write everything down before my visit to make sure. He's also very good about remembering everything we have previously talked about, even months later. Everyone I have interacted with has been nice and helpful whether it's on the phone, through e-mail, or in person. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone who needs their services. read more

I thought he was a fit for me when I first started seeing him in early 2023. I had a right peroneal tendon surgery on 12/8/23 because the area wasn't getting better with conservative measures. I was told that I could do light weight bearing with a boot and scheduled for several therapy sessions after the stitches were removed on 12/27/2023. That was WAY, WAY to early to be allowed to weight bear. The skin separated and I had an opening. Dr. Feldman attempted to fix it with debridement and then the following week repair it with stitches which did not work at all and left me with a gaping hole in my foot.....a HUGE gaping hole. I decided to have a wound care clinic help me with addressing the unsightly and awful mess that was created. I am still seeing the doctor at the wound clinic because I still have an opening that will not heal. I have been changing the wound on my foot for 4 months and still don't have any idea of when this nightmare will be over. He was condescending towards me, screamed at me, only seemed to be concerned with the fact that I know that I'm walking better from when I first started seeing him. My reply was, "I can't answer that because I can't walk right because I have a hole in the side of my foot." Well, he can see that I am walking much better, and I don't look as swollen even with all my bandages. I was soooooo wrong to choose him. Just beware! He has not been held accountable for any of the mental, emotional & financial terror that he has caused me. I still here his words, "It's not a big deal" "It's a little hump that you have to get over." Seriously!!!! It's a damned BIG deal, I'm still suffering with it! This review is geared toward the PT staff not the doctor I saw. The doctor I saw (Dr. Gardiner) was great. He did a great job. He gave me a new ACL, and also repaired my torn meniscus - 0 complaints (and his PA was totally awesome). The admin staff is good too - courteous and polite. The PT staff is where the lower rating comes from. Pat and Emily are great - but they seem over-worked with too many patients and students to supervise, and I was more often seen by students. In a month I did all the same exercises without increasing degrees of difficulty, I had minimal to no assistance and zero warm-up (again, not the case with Pat and Emily, but I spent most of my time with students). One particular student told me that my knee would hurt for the rest of my life - same girl who would slap a weight onto my ankle to increase my extension without supporting my leg, and then yank it off again when the time was up instead of easing it off. I finally had to give up on these guys. I went to a new (awesome) physical therapist who massages my knee (not a comfortable massage at all), moves my leg manually, and has me doing much more challenging and logical exercises that fit my strength level; after my second visit to him, my knee already feels freer to move and bend, and the stiffness has gotten so much better I'm amazed. I feel like I got a new knee. He also has taught me how to walk with my brace on, giving me more mobility with less stress on the rest of my body, and I have to wonder why this didn't happen at MOS. Instead of being assessed as an individual (I have very strong legs - I didn't need to start from square one as if I'm an elderly lady with no muscle development), I felt like I was relegated to a checklist that was created for the worst-case scenario, weakest, Joe-citizen out there. While I think it's obviously very important for students to gain experience in this field, it just seems to me that they should be shadowing the therapists so that the patients don't suffer and can advance. But unless you're a professional athlete, I just feel the coaching and challenge simply aren't present here. I will say that, with the one exception, all the students were really friendly and very capable... just don't tell people they'll be in pain for the rest of their lives... :) read more

I'm pretty bad at being human and this is my go to place for a quick tune-up when I fall and break myself. This past February I fell down some stairs and fractured my ankle and broke my rib. Not only did they not laugh at me (full disclosure, I would have) but they were very accommodating of both injuries. The X-ray tech, great guy btw, was very mindful of my rib injury as he was positioning me for my ankle x-rays. They explained everything very thoroughly and I left as satisfied as one can be when fully aware of their epic fail-itude. Last week I tripped over a shoe and got a hairline fracture on my ankle. Dr. Raffo was great as usual and 2 x-rays later I was being fitted for a boot. I was in and out very quickly (they saw me about 15 mins after my appointment time but that's to be expected in a doctors office). Dr. Raffo and his staff are great at explaining the nature of your injury and treatment and have a very warm disposition. I would reccomend them to anyone. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go invest in some body armor. read more

A friend of mine who had his knee worked on referred me here when I had crippling back pain. I called on a Friday morning and was able to get a Monday appointment with Dr. Zimmerman. I waited maybe 20 minutes for my appointment, which is sadly to me a norm for doctors, before doing X-rays. He then checked me out and talked about a course of action. I ended up with PT and an MRI. After getting my MRI results he explained what herniated discs were and answered all my questions. As far as PT I love the staff. Easton and Patti are very personable and motivating. The biggest annoyance to me is paying for parking, but there's always something! read more

I've never had worse customer service at a doctor's office in my life. And I've been to a lot of doctors! I scheduled my appointment a month in advance with their online appointment system, and received a confirmation and about a billion reminders. When I showed up for my appointment, I wasn't on the schedule, and the receptionist could have cared less. She not only didn't apologize for the mistake, she was actively rude and acted like it was a big chore to help me. Her explanation for the mix-up, which was that they had stopped using the online scheduling system, was delivered in a brusque, dismissive tone. I'm sorry I interrupted her personal phone call, but I would think that a mistake like that on their part would warrant at least an apologetic tone, if not a simple - "oh, I'm sorry, we stopped using the online scheduling system, let me help you find a new appointment." On top of that, they had lost the referral my primary care doctor faxed over. Once I got a new appointment, I waited for 45 minutes in the waiting room, then another 45 minutes in the exam room. When I finally saw Dr. Raffo, he did seem very competent and explained what was going on, although the whole exam felt pretty rushed, and there wasn't time for me to ask any questions. Dr. Raffo seems like a good doctor, but the office staff has been really difficult. read more

Dr and PT were fine but I was consistently over charged for my deductible for visits. I have called the billing department without any resolution. I will call two more times. If my issue is not resolved I will file complaints with the Maryland Insurance Administration and my health insurance provider - my understanding is this may constitute health insurance fraud and the Doctor can lose his license. If you can go somewhere else - you should. read more

Dr.Raffo and Gus assistant are awesome. Definitely knows his trade, kind, always smiling just like everyone who works there. The PT department is great, Patrick,Ethan, Matt, Will,Emily - I'd go to anyone of these professionals- I've had 3 surgeries with them, and Dr.Raffo and Cheryl have been the best. I'm actually bringing my son in to have a second opinion to redo a horrendous repair done by a different practice in Shady Grove years ago. Maryland Orthopedic Specialists are extremely unprofessional. I had scheduled an appointment a month out to meet with one of their care providers, called and confirmed the appointment twice. Took off work, whole 9 yards. 6 days before the appointment they called to let me know that the doctor needs to reschedule due to emergency surgery (in 6 days, some emergency??) and I can choose to come in on a different day. Why make an appointment that far out and confirm when your doctors are just going to cancel anyway? read more

I used a different surgeon, so I can't speak to their doctors, but I did come here for Physical Therapy post-op. They've been fantastic! Really welcoming and knowledgeable staff. They also have a good number of PT aides that make sure to demo exercises and ensure the session moves along, even when the location is busy. The PT department definitely cares about the patient recovering and progressing well, stressing good form and safety above keeping a patient only for their time appointment. Highly recommend them for anyone in the area. read more

I had an evaluation for an injury, and was ultimately referred for PT, which I ended up doing at another practice because the hours available for MD ortho specialists did not work for me. My experience was average. The doctor that I saw was nice, although, I do feel that the appointments I had were rushed. Also, each time I went there, there was a decent wait-time beyond the scheduled appointment time. The first time I went there, as I was waiting, the front desk staff and some of the PT staff, were joking around, and being really loud and unprofessional. Although in fairness, I only witnessed that type of behavior once. My other visits there, the professional deportment of the front desk staff/physical therapists seemed fine. read more

This place will charge you and not tell you you are being charged for specific services. I received a Cortisone Injection and they never mentioned once that this might not be covered under my normal visit like all other shots I have received at the doctor. Later I received a bill for $110 (would have been $500 if it didn't route through my insurance) for a shot that made my arm feel slightly better for a few days. I called their office multiple times and after a few weeks they finally said that I should have checked with my insurance and that they will not wave the fees. The doctor just gives you the cortisone shot so they can bill more and don't care about what you actually need. read more

I liked the physicians there. They were always kind to me. I broke my ankle last year and I was out of soccer for a while. But I was back on track thanks to them sooner than what my doctor expected. If you live in Bethesda, I would certainly advise you to go there. And if you have a kid that goes to Walter Johnson and sadly happens to get an injury that requires physical therapy, I'd tell you: "Go there, and don't waste your money anywhere else." read more

Best experience I've ever had -- the staff at the Germantown office is friendly polite respectful and helpful. Everyone there, from receptionists to therapy staff, is wonderful. They all seem to like working there. I left Greater Washington Orthopaedic Group because of the rudeness of their staff and came to MD Orthopedic Specialist - best decision I've made. However, I haven't yet gone to their Bethesda office - I've scheduled future therapy apts there and I hope the staff there is as nice as the group in the Germantown office. I went to Physical Therapy here for a little over a month and was helped by Emily & Patti mostly. They were both fantastic. This place was very professional yet laid back. The support staff were all great too. I went to physical therapy elsewhere for 8 months and that wasn't nearly as helpful as 1 month here. read more

Multiple problems with Dr. Raffo (or his staff??), got very negative experience with my daughter (eventually diagnosed lime decease): 1) staff messed up a code for the lab test -have to go back to the office 2) one of the prescribed test insurance treats as an "experimental" and denies payment: staff answer - "sorry, our mistake but cannot do anything now???"; the lab that made the test sends me bills with outrageous figures 3) the prescribed antibiotics was one of the weakest and didn't have any effects ; 4) finally, the doctor and the staff stop returning phone calls and not helping with insurance or labs or providing documentation required for an appeal. I tore my ACL in my right knee from playing soccer years ago and this was one of the best physical therapy offices I've been to. The PT's and PTA's were all very friendly and helped motivate me to get my knee all better! With out them I wouldn't have had the great recovery that I did. Thumbs up! read more
