We've been coming to Irish Beach for many years now. The house we used to rent is no longer…read moreavailable by the owners. We gambled on another, Ocean View. Beach and Views: outstanding! We come here for the private access down to the beach and normally only see 1-2 others on this stretch of beach. It is quintessential northwest coast! Very dog friendly and a lot of sandy areas and large logs for the dogs to climb and explore or for you to sit on and watch the waves. An occasional horse riding group will pass by but they also leave poop on the beach to which our dogs alerted us to! Whales (seasonal), sea lions, and many species of birds all for the watching. Rental staff: friendly and courteous. Not much interaction but we're very nice as usual. House: the house windows towards the ocean is stunning. The house is in need to attention. Furniture is as comfortable as a board on a concrete surface and about as low. If you have a bad back or hip, don't sit for your entire stay. The gas fireplace never worked. The heater thermostat battery went out and we replaced using our flashlight batteries. To turn it on, you have to remove the front plate and switch it on, but those instructions are not in the house. The window blinds in the kitchen do not work at all. The flashing and weatherproofing around the door is gone so there's an 1-1.25 inch gap at the bottom. Key doesn't always work. It took us several minutes each time to get the door open. There were no dish towels in the kitchen. The kitchen pots and pans are old and should be replaced. The flooring is mostly carpet which always gives me the creeps but that's my own issue. One bed is hard and the other is too soft. The hot tub was lovely and worked well. The kitchen does have everything you need with respect to cooking. The refrigerator was nice and clean. Actually, the entire house was very clean!! They allowed dogs so we were able to bring ours. The deck was nice but needs sanding and sealing. Two nice chairs were there but that was it. There's so much potential in this home and I feel the owners are just missing the mark.

These are clearly bad business owners, and most likely bad, unethical human beings. Our stay at…read moreVilla California, which was expensive, included the following degradations: 1. First floor bathroom overflowed with feces on our first use. We called the owners emergency numbers numerous times, including the following day, and they never returned the call. 2. Master bath and shower did not work. Period. 3. Went back to the 2nd floor bath, stepping over feces we cleaned, and the shower there worked, but the light did not. Got out our camping latern out of the car to see our selves shower in filth. 4. Hot tub was grimy and when we turned on the jets the water was so low the water sprouted upward, like a fountain. The hot tub area light bulbs were all out and also required our flashlight to see around. Could easily have fell. And they charge you an extra hot tub fee for work they never deign to do. 5. All plumbing, even the bath that worked, smelled of sulfur and I hate to say, sewage. 6. Arrived to a filthy house, dishes still in dishwasher, toilets filthy, etc. For glassware, there was one tall glass, a few bourbon glasses and two mismatched wine glasses. This would be ok if the place wasn't a f'n fortune. 7. A few rolls of TP were offered, one was obviously soaked over and dried and looked yellow. 8. Towels were stained and I think I've seen nicer and certainly cleaner ones at Motel 6. 9. Mismatched pots and pans the kind you'd see amassed at a frat house and with all the grime along it. No lids matched one pot. All dinnerware was chipped and mismatched. Again, this would be totally ok if it weren't pitched and priced at "luxury". There's sadly more insults to injury, but the saddest part is we don't have a lot of $ and I've been really sick. We thought we'd splurge on this place to heal and rejuvenate, only to have these awful people taking our hard earned money and limited time and feed into their pockets without putting in any honest work to upkeep their property professionally. They should be ashamed. We've had so many great experiences on the coast with other rentals and will not be coming back here again.

We spent two nights here celebrating my birthday and our anniversary, and it remains my absolute favorite place to stay on this side of the coast. Karen is such a wonderful host and truly makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. She prepared an incredible spread during our stay, including a delicious charcuterie board, flatbread, artichoke dip, and her famous "Slap Yo Mama" gumbo with fresh dipping bread. The name doesn't lie...it absolutely SLAPS! Hands down the best gumbo I've ever had. Room 120 was spacious and comfortable, with an amazingly comfortable bed and the perfect ocean view!! There is nothing better than lying in bed, watching the ocean, and listening to the waves. I also enjoyed a bubble bath with the jetted tub both days, which made for the perfect relaxing getaway. The balcony is nice with tall chairs and a table to enjoy a glass of wine (or three lol) in the evenings. :) If you're looking for a peaceful coastal retreat with exceptional hospitality, beautiful ocean views, and thoughtful touches throughout your stay, I can't recommend Wharf Masters Inn enough. We already can't wait to come back!!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause!

The cottage is clean and the collection of art is so cool. A favorite highlight was putting on makeup while watching the giraffes go about their day. Cant wait to come back.

After a long drive, we went straight for a dip in the hot tub to relax. As we settled in for our stay, we discovered that La Puerta is amazingly well equipped for a vacation rental. They even put out a blanket that says "La Puerta Puppy" for my dog. The location is ideal. It's less than 15 minutes to Mendocino. We spent most of our time at the house, though, just relaxing, taking in the view and the sound of the waves while we cooked and played some of the games from the small bedroom. We did venture down the hill to Navarro Beach and saw some amazing driftwood structures. Even on a sunny, warm day, we had the beach almost to ourselves. Britton was super helpful with information about the house and the area. She responded quickly to every question I had and provided great tips for what to do and see around Albion and Mendocino. We will definitely be back.

Final bill must be paid by cash or check, no cards accepted (fine by us!) Creekside was a simple-but-beautiful space. Fenced yard, lots of windows, and literally right next to a creek. Our dog was in 7th heaven. We cooked in and found the little kitchen had everyone we needed (with the minor exception of olive oil). The next day, we explored more of the property with a delightful hike around Gina's trail. So many photo opportunities and a stunning view of the Anderson Valley, we wished we had stayed another night!

I first…read morediscovered Stoney Bottom in 2022 when I was looking for a special place to surprise my sweetie with a romantic weekend away, possibly for our anniversary. While I loved the website and the vibe, I wasn't sure if I should book right away because it was a bit of a budget stretch on my end. After mulling it over a bit and calling the hosts to discuss their homemade breakfasts, I felt like I could not deny that it was a match, especially with my partner being a person interested in culinary delights as such-- I then booked an early spring weekend at Stoney Bottom. Everything about Stoney Bottom is both meticulously cared for, planned, and attended to, while at the same time peaceful, low key, and truly elegant. We were greeted with a delicious amenity upon arrival. These bites are perfect to kick back and enjoy on the porch. Leave all annoyances behind and just enjoy yourself at Stoney Bottom. We loved the look of the cottage (great style!) and they had all the amenities we could want. We had the best weekend away from the kids enjoying the wineries of anderson valley and also the property of Stoney Bottom itself. There are some great paths to explore around the gardens. The second time we stayed it was with our two kids in the Little House. This time we did more kid friendly activities in Anderson Valley, and there are plenty of them! The Little house gave us plenty of room to spread out and make ourselves at home. The master bedroom is so pretty and the bed itself is amazing (all the beds are really comfy). We could cook dinners there with ease and the kids loved having their own room and the big TV to plop in front of after a day of exploring. Stoney Bottom's location is PERFECT.... its was very walkable to get to town for a bite to eat or pick up some wine from one of the cute stores (we loved Disco Ranch wine shop!!) or wineries like Pennyroyale. The family who runs this B&B are super helpful when you have any questions, but they stay out of your way during your stay. All while making you feel pampered and welcome. They provide great service and you can tell they love and care about their property and the people they host. Its a real special place. Look no further... you found your home away from home here.
