But what made it truly unforgettable was Rachel and her incredible team. From the very beginning, Rachel made everything feel easy. She's organized, intuitive, calm, and somehow manages to be both laid-back and on top of every detail. I never felt overwhelmed, never stressed. I fully trusted her, and that trust paid off a thousand times over. The florals were perfect--gorgeous but not fussy, exactly in tune with the setting and the vibe we'd envisioned. Her staff was so kind and attentive, and the whole event flowed effortlessly thanks to their care and presence. Guests kept commenting on how beautiful everything was, but also how relaxed and fun the day felt. There was no pretense or pressure--just love, laughter, tacos (SO GOOD), and pure joy. Rachel also helped us source our hair and makeup artist (who was amazing), our dessert vendor (adorable and delicious), and even supported our late-night In-N-Out plan. She managed every piece of the puzzle with grace and humor, and made sure we got to actually enjoy our wedding day. (Which we did. Fully. With Palomas. And a piano man. And guacamole on my dress.) We've joked with our guests about making this an annual thing, and honestly? We might not be joking. Yokayo is that special. And if you're lucky enough to have Rachel by your side, you're in very good hands.

Such a beautiful property and venue and the staff are super friendly. Can't wait to go back!!read more

I can't really compare this to any other experience I've had. Sidenote, there is outstanding Wi-Fi across the whole property, and my phone's 5G also did well (t-mobile). The grounds and various group rooms, the kitchen and food prep, all of this is personally handled by the diligent and caring staff. The thing they call cabins -- not really the name I would use, I dislike cabins, but this room was terrific. simple, but excellent bedding.

From the lush, vibrant garden (hands down the most beautiful I've ever seen) to the peaceful meadows filled with wild deer and turkeys roaming freely, every inch of this place radiates natural beauty and serenity. My partner and I came here to unwind, and we left feeling deeply nourished, inspired, and recharged. We had some profound creative breakthroughs during our stay, and were finally able to get the kind of rest our bodies and minds were craving. Our dogs were in absolute heaven too, especially swimming in the river nearby! But what made this place truly unforgettable was the people. The hosts are warm, genuine, and full of heart. You can feel how much love and intention has been poured into this land and community. It felt like we were welcomed into a sacred little sanctuary, and we're already dreaming of our next visit. If you're looking for a healing, grounding, soul-expanding getaway, this is it. Thank you to everyone at The Land for creating such a special space. We'll be back soon.

She led us back out into the yard and along a windy leafy path lit by fairylights through the redwoods. Words can't really do this experience justice - it's like something out of Lord of the Rings (in a good way)! At the end of the path (only 30 yards, feels further because of the twists and turns) is nestled Marilyn's yurt in a redwood clearing. Inside is a double air bed (v comfortable), 2 Layzee boys, a piano and lots and lots of space. It's huge. We were worried it might be cold but the heater took care of that. And you are literally surrounded by redwoods. Outside there's a little bench we sat on where you can gaze up at the stars through a gap in the towering trees. The only downsides are that there is no bathroom (there's an outhouse 20 yards away in the woods as well as a potty set up for nigh + access to a bathroom in the house) and you aren't allowed food in the yurt to keep animals at bay. But how often do you get to stay in a yurt in the redwoods??? And all this is only 2 miles from downtown Mendocino with restaurants etc galore... Finally, Marilyn was a great host, explaining things and providing local info when we needed it and leaving us alone when we didn't. Overall our weekend was great (and over all too soon) and we definitely hope to return...

I booked an artstay but was so turned off by the road in and lies about the property I left without checking in... not that I could find the location for that. No cell service driving from Willits. Markers don't match their directions or picturesque descriptions. Long way from nowhere. Lots of splits on the roads. Kind of scary place to get lost. I don't trust people who lie. Ramshackle employee housing. Dead lower vineyard. Deliverance til you get up close to the farmhouse. Decided not to give it an overnight. The drive in looked nothing like the website photos. Made me wonder again about the no food in "cabins" cuz of supposed bears sighting thing. How is it you have bears with 2 penned cows, ostriches, and chickens? Probably more like vermin. (Isn't this suppose to be a 60 acre working farm? 2 penned cows???) This place is one lie after another. Told the owner I was like looking for a refund and she said ok, I could look for it. Seriously?

Daily schedule: wake up, head to the dining room for a delicious group breakfast, sit around in the sun reading and chatting (kids play in the barn and fields, help feed the animals, play games, etc.), then go back into the dining room for a delicious lunch (or sometimes they pack a lunch to go). Then everyone either heads down to the river or goes on a hike (and ends up at the river), then comes back up in time for dinner. The day ends with a camper-initiated campfire, complete with s'mores. In short: wake up, eat great food, sit around, eat great food, enjoy the outdoors, eat great food, sit by the fire, and go to bed. It's the ultimate in relaxation (there's no cell service) and family bonding. We're all so grateful that Tammy has kept the place going all these years (though some great traditions have been lost since I was a kid there).

Lovingly built by the property owners, every square inch of the space shows the care with which they planned for their guests' comfort and convenience, as well as their ability to create an ambiance of comfortable elegance and luxury. The cottage is spacious and airy, with a loft ceiling and numerous windows. Abundant hedges and trees screen it from the owner's home and the driveway, making it completely private, while allowing easy access to the owners in case of need (none arose while we were there). Diane and Bob are excellent hosts, providing as much or as little interaction as the guests wish (but do get to know them - they are lovely people and so knowledgeable about the area that you will want to take advantage of their insider's scoops and stories). Diane provided us with fresh flowers from her beautiful garden throughout our stay, just one of the special touches that made this experience so exceptional. As for the all-important location, you couldn't ask for better. The cottage is conveniently located within easy driving distance to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg (galleries, shopping, dining), which also puts it within easy distance of a number of state parks and natural areas that offer hiking and beach access. And the property backs onto Russian Gulch State Park, with its lovely year-round waterfall a nice short hike away. Can you tell we loved it here? We can't wait to return!
