I stopped by after lunch and decided to give this place a try. It's located behind Tous Les Jours bakery and across from Mission BBQ. You order at the walk-up window, and there are a few outdoor seats if you'd like to enjoy your ice cream there. They have a huge selection of flavors...so many that it was almost overwhelming! The girl at the window was incredibly friendly and patient, and she happily let me sample a flavor to make sure I liked it before ordering. I went with the Cold Brew Brownie ice cream in a waffle cone, and it was absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of their flavors. read more

They have all sorts of cones and cup options and the service has always been kind every time I've gone. They also let you get tasters before you make the all important decision of picking your flavor. They run promotions pretty much all the time, so I'd recommend subscribing to their social media so you're in the loop for these. They're legit deals - free cones, BOGO, etc for customer appreciation. Just bear in mind, it's off the highway and they're located in a small building with 2 benches, so there's not too much seating there if you were trying to eat there. This is hands down my favorite ice cream in the area. It's the right price point compared to some other bougier shops and the flavors are amazing! The flavors are made daily and change on maybe a weekly basis. They will get you as many samples as you want, but the big difference with this place is that you order at a window and can't see the flavors sitting out like most scoop shops. I think it is kept fresher that way because all the ice cream is in the back in metal containers like real gelato is kept. The quality is great. You can taste the freshness and care for the mix ins. Depending on the time of year/time of night the line can get long, but it never takes too long to get to the front or get your ice cream. Every time I go is a new adventure. I didn't know they opened a Buster's Ice Cream in Ellicott City, but man I am a big fan. It has a large variety of flavors which is essential for any top tier ice cream stop. When we arrived, it's a window only store, and a small cup was just under 6 dollars. The staff was very nice and patient with each person despite the line which is something I appreciate, no one felt quite rushed. There are a few benches for you to sit and enjoy your ice cream but it's all entirely outdoors (there is a roof over the patio area set up). Also they have a promo for free ice cream for small kids (around 2-3 years old I would guess) based on height. I was able to flavor 3-5 different flavors before I ordered. I enjoyed each sample I tried. I got a small cup with 2 flavors, one graham cracker and one cheesecake. The small did not feel like a small ice cream, they did not hold back on their scoops which I appreciate. I truly enjoyed both flavors I tried. The graham cracker had these delightful salted chocolate chunks in them. The cheesecake was my personal favorite. The thick crust of the cheesecake in the ice cream added a very nice texture. If you only want to get one flavor, I would recommend getting a pint rather than a cup for only about 1.50 more. Would be back for more ice cream! read more

Expect simple, recognizable flavors made fresh and absolutely rich and creamy, as classic ice cream should be. Their metal benches and red and white decor give a somewhat nostalgic feeling of an ice cream parlor I went to when I was a child, and now having a daughter of my own, I expect this place to give her some formative memories. Bruster's has a "if you're short enough, you get free ice cream" policy. My 2-year old was able to get her first ice cream cone, for free and which she proudly consumed with gusto. My wife and I got their peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, with little delicious chunks of mini peanut butter cups hidden among the nutty ice cream base. It was extremely satisfying. I'm a sucker for ice cream, and while I've recently found myself drawn to "new style" ice cream with unusual flavors and serving styles, there is something appealing about a scoop of tried and true chocolate by a staff of cheerful servers. When it's hot outside and I need a cool treat, Bruster's Real Ice Cream is on the top of my list for delicious desserts and making memories. read more

This is the second time this has happened to me at this location. I only ordered one thing(brownie sundae) and my ticket kept getting skipped. People who came after me received their orders and drove off. I asked what was going on and they said they are making it. I sat back down.Nobody was making a sundae. I got up again and asked for a refund (20 mins later). Everyone looked confused. A girl came up with what should have been my sundae but it was made wrong smh. I come here often and know it's gonna be a wait but when people after me are getting their merchandise and leaving then that's when it becomes a problem. It is located off Route 40/Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City. I like how it has outdoor seating covered for those days you want to stay in the shade to hide from the sun or rain. My favorite is an old school ice cream sundae. I mean the vanilla with all the works of toppings is always satisfying! Don't fret if you pull up and it's packed. The staff is quick and gets the orders taken and ready at the pick up window. If you decide to walk away or go near your car, they have a loud speak to call out your name when your order is ready. While this is available, I don't encourage this so the orders can get out and moving. A plus for me is they have dog options! So for you dog owners, take your pup and treat you both to some good ice cream! read more

We tried the strawberry matcha flavor, which is specific to Ellicott City's Korea Town. It was the perfect mix of creamy, fruity, and just the right amount of matcha -- seriously, so good. We also love that they offer waffle bowls, which are the perfect way to enjoy your ice cream (because who doesn't love a waffle cone upgrade?). The line was pretty long, but totally worth it once you get your hands on that sweet, creamy goodness. Even though they were super busy, our order was spot-on, and the service was great. The price is very reasonable for the generous portions they serve. We can't wait to go back and try more flavors -- definitely one of our favorite ice cream spots! read more

I was attracted to their menu featured online, stating "Real Ice Cream Made Here Every Day" as well as the Spin The Wheel deal. I decided to support a local business and visit this establishment. There is outdoor seating for their customers. I was met with a lukewarm reception at the 'Order Here' counter. I mentioned that I saw their business on social media "Instagram" and was interested in the 'Spin The Wheel' game. The employee stated that I had to buy something first before playing the 'Spin The Wheel' game. I ordered the 'banana split', and was directed to the 'Pick Up Here' counter. Another employee met me at the 'Pick Up Here' counter. I inquired about the 'Spin The Wheel' game, and the initial first employee stated out loud "Oh, I forgot". My response, "we just spoke to each other, less than thirty (30) seconds ago. The second employee brought over the 'Spin The Wheel' game, and I the opportunity to play the game and won the following prize: 'Free Kids' Cup'. Please note the Manager/Franchisee Signature and Store # was provided on the coupon. I was finally presented with my banana split that contained the following flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry along with a pretzel stick. I partially consumed the banana split on their bench. I couldn't help observe the different customer service provided to other patrons. Customers were offered the opportunity to play the 'Spin The Wheel' game prior to ordering at the 'Order Here' counter. That observation of their variance of customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't like the inconsistent customer service. The banana split was fine. I liked the banana split. Didnt I tell you about this place yet? We just found it about two weeks ago, and have been here twice already! There's lot's of parking, though the driveway down the side feels a bit narrow. You order and pay at one walk-up window and pickup at the next. It get's pretty busy, and they keep it moving along. Plenty of flavors of real ice cream, including some vegan oatmilk flavors! We have had coconut, vegan mint chip, and even a spumoni-like dish i asked for with fresh loaded pistachio, cherry vanilla with cherry pieces, and chocolate with chocolate chunks. Mmmmmm. No seating, but people are comfortable standing around chatting with friends and neighbors. We drove straight home, and were able to save a little for the freezer :-). This is the most disgusting ice cream shop I have ever gone to. It must have been a bad night but the worker there was very rude. She came up to us as if we were bothering her when we waited to take our order, because she was in the back talking to her friend and on the phone laughing. And then we get our order and there is no one there and she is taking 10+ minutes and she is scraping the bottom of the ice cream while talking and spitting over it. 20 minutes later we finally get our ice cream and it was scrappy and had ice crystals and told us it is old ice cream. We saw that this Bruster's just opened up, and immediately had to try. I got the flavors sea salt caramel and black raspberry truffle, and they were mouthwateringly good. The people who took our order were so sweet too! The setup of the ice cream shop is nostalgic and makes me feel at home. The only thing is that it gets busy in the afternoons, especially on weekends. I got Salted caramel with toffee and chocolate rasberry truffle. Ice cream a little too soft. Even though they have seating they have no customer restrooms. A fairly new Ice Cream Shop on Route 40 Korea Town area right in the center of it all. The interior, if you could call it that, is quite simple. Red and white dominant colors with a few holed red painted metal park benches dotted around inside the garage door open or covered area. This spot is mostly takeout only and has just the window going on for ordering and picking up. When a few peers and I came on labor day weekend Sunday at around 4pm the wait in line before ordering was approximately 20 minutes. I suspect that wait line to drop off in the near coming future when the recency of the shop dies down and it isn't labor day weekend. The flavors are mostly your standard flavors which is great for a small shop like this, but there are some notably different ones like Rose flavored with Basil Seeds titled "Fulado". I was hoping for a strong solid base because of the simple flavors, so I asked for a taste of their vanilla ice cream to get a solid view point on the taste & texture of the ice cream. The first notable point is that even though the ice cream is a hard scooped ice cream, the texture is closer to soft serve than actual hard ice cream like ben & jerry's or Tillamook. The ice cream melted a bit too quickly both in my mouth and in the cups they were served in for my liking. The flavor of the Vanilla taste itself was also minimal, no noticeable woody floral vanilla taste and mostly just their standard sweet cream base flavor. Things were looking grim for this shop. Nevertheless, among my peers and I we tasted five flavors: Black Raspberry, Coffee Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel Toffee, Deep Dish Apple Pie, and New York Cheesecake. The flavors were done really well. Coffee Chocolate Chip was not sweet and very coffee forward aside from the chocolate chips which are more like thinner shards closer to straciatella method from gelato of getting chocolate chip. Black Raspberry was not super sweet and balanced well with the tartness, the blackberry flavor is slightly artificial but mostly tastes real. Salted Caramel Toffee I wish was just slightly saltier but for the most part balanced well. The New York Cheesecake flavor was a bit bland and one note, wish there was a Strawberry Cheesecake version but the graham cracker crust bits on the inside was a saving grace. The only flavor I thought fell completely flat was the Deep Dish Apple Pie because it was sickeningly sweet from the apple compote mix-in. Aside from that and minor amounts of cinnamon sugar, so basically it was either too sweet or no flavor at all. The pie crust was a bit soggy inside which isn't great texturally. Though I must commend Bruster's , or at least the person who scooped my Ice Cream, to give an actually reasonable amount for the price. Overall, Bruster's is a decent-ish Ice Cream with a soft-serve like texture which is personally not for me with hard ice cream with fairly standard flavors with average or meh taste across the board. Given the location and quality of product the chances of me returning are low. At most maybe I'd return to try it with different peers to taste more flavors and hopefully a more dialed in experience from their staff. read more

We went tonight to celebrate a milestone. I was shocked to see the young lady who took our order subsequently also serving the cones - with her bare hands while wiping her hair and face (nose). No gloves, no hairnets. She was not the only one. They all were handling food with bare hands. They seem like a good group of kids. This is hardly how an ice cream shop should be run. They had a long line granted, but we didn't wait that long to see our cones be handled with hands that (presumably) had a cut and lots of who-knows-what from serving other customers. Needless to say, I tossed my cone even though it's my absolute favorite flavor and don't plan to go back. Our other family that didn't get cones were able to enjoy theirs. Not great/mediocre - other locations r better. We've been going to Bruster's for decades since living in PA b4 moving to MD. Always had pretty good/great experiences b4 in PA & other MD locations. Kids wanted to come here after eating KBbq across the road. Not sure if it was because it is January/winter, but the atmosphere/vibe felt a little awkward/"chilly" inside. You walk in and the benches are all around the edges with a blank rectangular space. The servers/ice cream are partitioned off by a wall with windows. I felt like I was in line at a pharmacy. Didn't really feel very welcoming/enjoyable. The setup/vibe felt strange compared to other Bruster's and ice cream shops we've frequented. Also the, scoop portions were the smallest of any Bruster's we've been to - not tiny but we're used to other locations serving 1.5-2x as much per scoop in the waffle cones when u r paying $7-$8 for two or three scoops. The same great flavors of ice cream as the other locations have, but closer to Columbia, MD area. I ordered the cookie crunch and peanut butter buckeye ice cream in a cup. The line was a bit confusing as there were a lot of people just standing about and talking. Also, it seemed the ordering system was either down or there was confusion. My order was taken promptly, but after waiting a bit, a girl asked me what my order was and filled the order. Meanwhile other staff stood around confused. The location is a bit odd as it looks like a car mechanic garage since the indoor space is created by 2 pull down garage doors. Since in the end of a business park there is no area for folks to linger and not much parking. In all it was a great food experience as the ice cream has tons of flavor and lots of added pieces of ingredients. Definitely a place to stop if in the area and craving great ice cream. read more
