Visited August 13th...see my receipt. THIS THE CHARTER FAMILY FRUITSTAND NOT CARTER!!!! Wow - what a pleasant find! This place is about 5 miles from highway 5 in Williams. (Take highway 20 from I 5 towards Clearlake). They had such a great selection of fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price! Plus different flavors of pistachios.They also sell honey and even pies! Love that they also have olive oil and sauces! They have cold drinks in the frig and ice cream too. It is well organized and VERY clean inside ( air conditioning as well). It is cutely decorated and I bought some really fresh veggies! The 2 young ladies at the cash register who very friendly and helpful! Our family has been frequenting Charter Family Farm fruit stand every season for as long as I can remember. We always enjoy the stone fruits, different varieties of watermelon, corn, etc. However since it has transitioned to The Harvest Bend, the soul of the place isn't quite there any more. No longer are we greeted by familiar faces stocking peppers and tomatoes in the outside bins, rather those bins are generally empty and unwelcoming... the watermelons and corn that were always stocked in the entrance have been empty or sold out some days, as the volume of stock was seemingly not ready to out out (leaving gaps in availability that were not there before)... the prices seem to have gone up and additions of overpriced pies, popcorn, and soaps from outside the immediate area make it seem more like a new generation boutique rather than a reliable family farm stand. Most recently, at the farm stand we were buying about 10 pounds of stone fruit, assorted veggies, 24 ears of corn and 4 yellow watermelons. And as we have always done in the past, we simply informed the team member at the counter that we would also be grabbing four watermelons on our way out, as our hands were full with the rest of the produce. She informed us she couldn't ring them up until we brought them in because different sizes were different prices, despite their own signage saying they were one flat price ($7 per yellow watermelon) - almost as if we were going to steal them - because when we came back in (after holding up the line to quickly grab them), they were in fact all the same price after all (no difference based on size - just a flat price). I don't know, but this place has lost its soul, is overpriced, and is seemingly more focused on branding, buzz, and social reach/engagement rather than what matters to its patrons. read more

Love getting fresh fruit from here--it's always amazing! However, the customer service could use some improvement. There's one employee (I believe her name is Evelyn) who often seems to have an attitude. I'm not sure why, but it's noticeable on multiple visits. I'm always polite and respectful, so it's a bit disappointing to experience this, especially in a customer service role. The Charter Family Fruit stand is a necessary stop if you're in the area! I was FINALLY in the area at a time when the stand was open. Many local fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts were in-season. The "fruit stand" is awesome! It's also huge. The "stand" is bigger than many peoples' homes. The stand has fresh produce outside and also inside, in the room to the left as you enter the front doors. The right side room mostly features local canned products like jams, honey, olives, oils, nut butters, etcetera. They also have dried fruits & flavored nuts in a giant wooden bin and a cooler with "take & bake" pies. There's a cooler on the back with miscellaneous cold beverages. If you're lucky and you happen to come by at the end of the week or on the weekend, the kitchen will probably be open. They have hot foods like tacos and cold drinks like fresh fruit smoothies! They usually have a basket of home-made giant cookies too! Since I was going to fly home, I had to spend most of my time getting canned goods that could be easily shipped. Great find!!! I saw this stand on my way up north and had to stop. As I pulled up a load of corn was being dropped off and a swarm up people grabbed their bags and filled them up! And for good reason, white and yellow corn 6 for $1! Yup you heard me right 6 for $1. I haven't seen a deal like that it years. And to make it even better was the corn was fresh and sweet! I also picked up some white nectarines, peaches and plums, $1.40/lbs (I think). Way better than those grocery store prices. The stand also has a little indoor section too with more produce, nuts and jerkey. There's also a kitchen in the back with a little counter, that's not open yet, but I can't wait to see what they start to make... Pies maybe? :) I will definitely be back to check out the seasonal produce! read more

We stopped here on our way into Sacramento from the north. The food was great, my husband actually ordered a smoothie and a sandwich plus we brought a bunch of fresh fruit, a pie and pistachios. We couldn't of been happier about the timing it was a good moment to stop and have a couple fresh snacks plus we got some great food and gifts to take to our friends were you were visiting near San Francisco. I have to say the pie is actually worth driving for they come frozen you can bake them at home we share them with friends and everybody was impressed at how great they were. read more

My family and I drive to Clearlake, CA at least once a month to visit other family. We pray that every time we drive past the fruit stand that it is open, and we are sadly disappointed when it is not. We absolutely love the fresh fruits and veggies we get from here. We have yet to be dissatisfied with any of their products. It will forever be one of our favorite places to visit. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I love this place and will drive an hour plus to get there. Not only do they have the best vegetables at super prices but the best fig jams I have found. They also have fresh figs when in season. The only problem I have is finding out when they are open. I don't do Facebook or Messenger so have been unable to locate how to reach them. I travel from Orland to Santa Rosa once or twice a year for medical treatment. I enjoy stopping at the Carter family fruit stand.The fruits and vegetables have always been superior to market produce. I stopped a week ago and what a disappointment. The big box of tomatoes I bought had high cores in them so hard you had to cut away half the fruit prior to eating or canning. Flavorless to say the least. The very nice friendly young lady lied through her teeth re: the peaches. Picked green and once again the fruit was hard and .flavorless. Egg plant beautiful and wonderful. New potatoes and red onions passable. Cantaloupe was mostly ripe and good. Honeydew melon also okay. It is with great sadness i say goodbye to the fruit stand. I can buy better fruit and vegs. in a supermarket and we all know what garbage that is. But equal to Charters fruit stand. The Charger family should be ashamed of themselves for being so eager to make a buck they are willing to sacrifice the quality of their produce. Shame on you. I have stopped in here a few times on the way to the coast and have been pleased every time with the offerings they have. This time they had an abundance of corn, cantaloupes and honeydews and they all looked good. We were only staying a few nights and going back home a different way so we figured we might as well get some things now and they would be fine in the car cause its cooler on the coast anyway. The cantaloupes were fabulous and so sweet, in fact I saved some seeds so I could grown this variety myself next year. We got some grapes and apricots and pluots and they were all sweet and ripe as well. They ladies are always so friendly here and they sell nuts and honey and a bunch of other things here too. I have boughten the honey before and it is very good. If you are on the road and want some fresh snacks and fruit or veggies this is your place the friendly staff will help you worth whatever you are looking for and the prices are just right. read more

Super fresh veggies. clean store, helpful and friendly staff. It's well worth the 6 mile drive from I-5. This will be a regular stop when traveling I-5 in the summer months. We've had the most incredible honeydew melons, green beans, brussel sprouts and corn. read more
