Every Saturday we come and get jalapeño bacon which is amazing and pre made fajitas all you have to do is cook it. One of the best things we got is in house made chorizo regulars and spicy can't beat the flavor. If you like spicy they have spicy salsa which is amazing and full of flavor. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted with lovely smiles and 'Welcome In' by the young ladies behind the counter. I had some questions about their products and one of the butchers working in the back came over. He explained how they work, answered all of my questions and said they stand by their products, if we don't see something to please ask. We bought some steak and ground beef to try and boy, there's no comparison to supermarket meat, this was so flavorful. We stopped in today and pickup up some pork chops and ordered 5 pounds of ground beef and some steak. They are even thinly slicing the steak for us - now that's service for you! I grew up in the 50's in Europe and this shop brought me right back to that time where service and products were always top notch, and the family butcher took pride in his work and would cut or trim my mother's orders to suit. I think we'll stop looking now: we have our family butcher in The Country Butcher.

Now that I have been 4 times, I am not so happy any longer. They do not have any pork products other than a few frozen sausages. 95% of their meats are frozen, although they do keep a few beef items in the front display/refrigerated case. They sell mostly beef products, with a few items of lamb. I am very disappointed that they do not have pork: Pork shoulder, Boston butt, and St. Louis or baby back ribs. I have decided to go back to my previous "Go to" butcher - "Cracchiolo's" in Woodland - they have everything you need, none of it is frozen either. After reading some of the posted reviews (on Yelp), I'm beginning to understand why, and I find myself very reluctant to become another dissatisfied, if not disillusioned, customer. What should people should know about doing business with many of the 'mom & pop' shops (e.g. Harringer's) in the greater Yuba City is that customer service is a lost concept . I am surprised that many such shops here in this area manage to stay in business for as long as they do. Perhaps they also engage in some side enterprise(s) to maintain a mere storefront . . . . ? Now, in all fairness to the mom & pop enterprises that still proliferate the Yuba-Sutter area, I manage to maintain my frame-of-reference with respect to Yuba-Sutter's demographics - specifically the general populace that patronizes local businesses. Given some of the written content of those (very) few who've bothered writing reviews, I shouldn't be too surprised that their (meat) orders were not filled according to their expectations - so far to say that clear communication is shall always be an essential component to competent customer service. Pursuant to living in So. Yuba City, I invariably do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Winco. (Which by the way, Winco's customer service, by my experience, is actually very good!) However, given Winco's proximity to Harringer's, it's an educated guess that Harringer's (apparent) sparse customer base probably shops at Winco, as well. Aside from the presentation of customers typically seen at the local Wal-Mart, I've seen those very same customers ALSO at Winco. Departing Winco's parking lot onto Franklin Ave., I often find myself bemused with this haunting thought: How on God's green earth did so many peckerheads (and slipshod mom & pop shops) end up in Yuba City?

When I asked if a box was missing, I was told "that was a skinny,,,,," NO WAY any of my animals were EVER skinny. Others have had the same experience according to posted reviews, with the same excuse... hummm?? ALSO as time has gone by, the place has become simply grimy... you can carve your initials in the gunk on the woodwork. I don't even want to look back at the actual cutting floor. I will NEVER do business with these people again - end of story.
