I am a former employee of The Chateau. While the place is stunning, the company is not. I realize there are many positive reviews on Google from current employees and I wanted to share some of my experiences as well because I honestly believe that your loved one would be better and safer elsewhere. While I was working at The Chateau as a receptionist and later an administrative assistant, the business was still new and slow moving. It is far from being visible from the road, tucked behind college dorms. The company had undergone a change in management as I took on my positions at The Chateau. Soon after, a new company took over and everything flipped upside down. Old workers were soon fired, amenities were stripped from old and incoming residents, and The Chateau no longer offered house cleaning or meal plans incorporated into rent costs for the restaurant. Hours changed because the company could no longer pay workers to work there, and now there are gaps in time where loved ones could potentially be locked out of the building without anyone's awareness. Imagine that - in the middle of the night, in the dead of winter. Unless the company has made changes to security and parking, the mobility of the place has always been lacking. Side doors are now permanently locked, to the dismay of many handicapped visitors who now have to walk around the whole building to the main entrance. Transportation to and from appointments depended on workers who don't work there anymore. The new management refuses to shovel snow off residents' cars. Independent living had become quite literal. I don't want to completely bash the place. It's beautiful with a TON of potential. But I do fully believe your loved one and your money is better off somewhere more secure, fully staffed, with amenities and activities. My husband and I are residents here and love living here. The entire staff is amazing. They help make these apartments feel like 'home'. They always greet us with a smile and are very helpful for any questions or needs that may arise. The facilities are well kept and pleasant. The workout room and locker rooms are open 24/7 which is very convenient. The grounds and common rooms are kept clean and inviting. The rent includes all utilities including heat, central air, electric, even down to the Internet and cable. Having a washer and dryer furnished is a huge bonus for apartment living. Love that there are activities for the residences too. Here at the apartments there is restaurant, meeting rooms, exercise classes, massage therapy available, a hairdresser for men and woman plus more amenities! This is more than an apartment it is a friendly community that cares and will make you feel like home. The local area here is close to downtown Brockport and all the conveniences. In fact there is a park within walking distance and it has trails, disc golf, ball parks, dog park and other park amenities. I have never seen a more unorganised place. My first mistake was not to visit this place before bringing an out of town client to lunch. When we first walked in I thought I was at a hotel, then when pointed to the dining room, we stood at the doorway for more than five minutes, even though the place was empty. A sweet old woman with a walker told me to knock on the kitchen door for service. Reluctantly I did and was finally seated. We were given menus and a cup of coffee each, and that was that. Waitress proceeded to fondle the folded tablecloths, walk over to the computer and in and out of the kitchen, she never came back for our order. Totally embarrassed, we stood up put on our coats and then she makes an appearance MIND YOU TWENTY MINUTES AFTER SHE SAT US. When I said she was too late, and asked what I owed for the coffee, she had the audacity to charge me for it. The decor was nice, but the service was non existent. If you are 55 or older I highly recommend the Chateau at Heritage Square. It's a beautiful building, less than four years old, and the Cabot corporation and staff keep everything looking like new. The staff are friendly and efficient, and always willing to make sure you are a happy resident. The amenities include free wi-fi, spectrum cable, heat, AC, garbage removal, a workout room, a sauna and a library. It also has an activities director, hair salon, and a restaurant with a resident discount. As one of the first residents, I have never regretted moving from our house into my apartment. I love it here. You're never alone unless you choose to be and downtown Brockport is less than a mile away. read more

Amazing atmosphere from the minute you pull in, as your walking up to the front there is a beautiful water feature. You walk in and you feel like you are home, fireplace on and cozy and greeted by a wonderful staff. Apartments are spacious.
