Similar to other reviews we found the cheese selection to be somewhat underwhelming here. Many of the selections being available at like a Whole Foods or Wegmans cheese department. The plus is the parking, a wine selection, and some bread (like baguette from local Pain d' Avignon). Service and the quaint lil shop are good. My guess is that the shop sustains itself based upon what the clientele taste buds demands, therein lies the limitations. Windup buying a bit of Brilliat Sav. --a decent triple crème. Cute cheese & wine shop in Chatham but honestly not that impressed by the selection. I have been to a lot of cheese shops around New England and thought this would have had a spectacular selection. There honestly wasn't much! I did however get a very good Gouda recommended by one of the associates and my favorite truffle cheese, Moliterno Al Tartufo. Every time I visit Chatham I must stop at this cheese shop and get some cheese to enjoy during my stay on the Cape. This week I picked up some of their Lenora goat cheese and the Fromager aux Herbes. The Fromager aux Herbes was a huge hit! Buttery and creamy with delightful herbs throughout the cheese. It went fast! The Lenora is tasty, but didn't quite have the same wow factor. When I stopped in, I was the only person in the store and was quickly greeted and served. They also have a selection of cheese accompaniments including jams, crackers, crostini, olives, etc. Convenient parking in the back of the store and cute outdoor seating at picnic tables outside. Always worth a visit! The only criticism I have is that the hours are not exactly ideal for me in that they close Sundays at 5. I wish they closed a little later to give me more time to spend in Chatham before heading home with my cheese. read more

Stopped in looking for bleu cheese as this establishment was recommended to having a good selection and they were right. Recommendation was Mad River bleu which is produced by the Von Trapp family, yes Sound of Music family, so got a small piece of that as well as a blue from Australia. Picked up a French baguette as well which looks amazing. The store is small but the cheese case has a good selection of what you might be looking for. There's also wines. Pates, cured meats, crackers, jams, etc. the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful so ask any questions you might have. There are picnic tables outside if you want to have an impromptu picnic while you're in town. read more

Excellent selection of cheese and everyone that goes along with cheese, including wine. We chatted with the knowledgeable staff and they were able to provide us some Good recommendations. We did not try the met and cheese plate but next time we will. They also have a cheese tasting. Both the plate and tasting need to be reserved in advance. If you are coming to Cape Cod, this is a must!The store has so many interesting options that are incredibly fantastic for both wine and cheese. My girlfriend and I did a cheese and wine tasting and all of the pairings were great. The best part of our experience was getting to meet Michael. Not only did he walk us through the tasting extremely well, giving us details into what we were having and where they were from, but he gave us so much insight into the area. Michael went above and beyond to give us recommendations for other spots throughout Chatham and Cape Cod. I came in here on Saturday when it was about 5 minutes till closing, and the young woman behind the counter was so gracious about staying open a few extra minutes to help us out. I told her what kind of cheeses I like and that I wanted to try something new, and she recommended some amazing cheeses for us. The ambiance is also great, with lots of wine, chocolates, nuts, & crackers. If you go into the shop try their honey bee cheese or one of their truffle options! I was not a cheese person (or so I thought) until I went here. I am not the type to try foods out of my comfort zone.. but the woman behind the counter recommended that we try a cheese with truffle (I think it also had raw sheeps milk)-- we tried it, I fell in love & now I love cheese. Her recommendation I never would have tried, but I trusted her input and im so glad I did. After sampling that I wanted to try something even further out of my comfort zone, it had cranberries and struck me as something a cheese lover would enjoy so I wanted to try it, it was incredible. It's good to see a business bringing a good name to the world of mongers. We have war mongers, and fish mongers, but rarely do we celebrate the cheese mongers in our midst. I've been here a few times now and have been greeted with genuine enthusiasm for the cheesing arts, knowledge of the exquisite varietals, and moderately priced wine pairings. The woman behind the counter was delightful. We chatted for a bit and she turned me on to a triple crème Brie that shattered my understanding of soft cheeses. There are before and after moments in one's life, and I am in a whole new chapter of my cheese journey because of this place. She then pointed me towards a sharp cheddar that crackled and popped. But the piece de resistance was a petit fromage with a name that was something like Full Moon or Athena's Garden. I shared this with my family and all of our past traumas and petty squabblings were forgiven and a new epoch of familial bliss was begun. Moral of the story, go here, eat cheese, solve world peace. I really liked this shop and don't think the negative reviews are warranted. The cheeses are reasonably priced, at least according to this Manhattanite! We got the pecorino romano and garrotxa. This is a cute store, but insanely overpriced. I've been to very nice cheese shops and never ever paid prices like I did here. I bought a small sliver of goat gouda and some cotswald. In total, the size was less than a 16-slice block of American cheese. It was $20! I just can't get over the cost of two itty bitty slices of cheese. read more

This shop has a wonderful selection of cheese and other gourmet items, plus great sandwiches. There's a daily soup - I had a black bean soup that was amazing! The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. We did a cheese tasting that was so fun. Highly recommend. read more

Beautiful shop! Nice place to sit outside and eat a sandwich on the picnic tables. We got some delicious cheeses, we enjoyed an excellent cheddar from March of 2006! It was so good! I think my Dad ate a whole pound! They also sell wines, crackers, fancy little jams and jellys from the Chatham Jam and Jelly Store which is an EXCELLENT store! The very best thing were these delicous Bequet Celtic Sea Salt Caramels. They are $3.99 for four and you bet I bought a lot of them. I am not a big sweets person, but these were perfect. The man behind the counter is very knowledgeable about their cheeses and made wonderful suggestions based on our likes. We loved them all. Also picked up tasty crackers, nuts and parmesan chips. Maybe we were here on an off-day but we took a drive based on so many nice reviews and honestly, there were only about a dozen cheeses to choose from and they were awkwardly placed in a low display case that you had to bend over to look into as opposed to an above-the-waist case that I've seen at every other cheese shop. Anyway, the clerk (owner) was not very welcoming, friendly, or attentive and offered no help or suggestions for which cheeses to try. I was disappointed to be left on my own but did manage to pick a few cheeses that were delicious. The other items they offer for sale such as crackers, jellies, etc. can be found in any upscale grocer like Wegman's or WholeFoods or even Fairway at a fraction of the cost here but it was nice to have everything in one place. I was surprised to see how much wine they offer for sale because I wasn't expecting that at all. Overall, I might visit again if having company because they do have some different cheeses than you'll find other places, but it is expensive and not overly helpful. read more

Walking through the doors of this shop plunges me right back into all of the romance and vibrant life of a Parisian Cafe! The shop is adorable, the French music is delightful, and the cheeses- wow. I've never experienced such a wide variety of quality and fairly priced cheeses. Walking up to the cheese window at first can be daunting but then worries immediately cease as their incredibly friendly employees welcome you and generously let you taste all of the different cheeses. It is such a lovely experience as they take their time to educate their customers about the product. They are obviously excited about cheese and their excitement is contagious! While on vacation, we went in for some special cheeses that you can't get in a regular supermarket. Given how large the store is, you'd think that they would have more cheese on display, especially in the height of the tourist season. We asked for a couple of kinds of cheese we enjoy from another specialty cheese shop that we frequent. They did not have it. Instead of knowing that type of cheese or inquiring about what style, flavor, texture we were looking for or offering a taste of something, the unfriendly clerk just gave off a slightly unpleasant vibe. I'm not blaming the staff. The owner should train the staff in greeting customers and at least a little something about the cheeses they carry. We did not buy cheese. We looked at wine, but again, given the big size of the shop, you 'd think they'd have more of a variety on hand. Didn't bother asking about the wine. read more

Best place on Cape Cod to buy cheese! Located across from Del Mar restaurant, right on route 28. Heather can always recommend a great cheese and there is always a lot to choose from....never disappointed in her recommendations! If you're lucky enough, you may go on a day that the Mac and cheese is made...simply delicious! Overpriced, poor quantity and rude service. I ordered a tray of cheese and fruit for 6 people and was expecting a nice, ample presentation. I was charged $65 for a small tray that would feed maybe 3 people and was worth no more than $35 (taking into account the high prices during the summer tourist season.) This place is wonderful. The owner is so sweet and kind and orders things special for me all the time. She really knows her cheeses. I love the sandwiches...you can have a wonderful lunch there and sit outside on the picnic benches on the big front lawn. It is the only place I can get find to get burrata cheese on the cape. Such a snooty place! The sales associates were acting like they personally milk the cows, hunt for truffles and age cheese in cellars for decades. Rude, very curt staff greeted us with an attitude as if we could not afford any of their "gourmet overpriced" products. We were just driving through town, my husband and our three kids. The staff at the store was especially displeased seeing children in their establishment. Please, I fly to Europe every year and can purchase anything I wish at real GOURMET places.
