The chicken place is great. I had been meaning to go forever and never got around to it. I'm so glad to finally wandered in one Saturday afternoon. Location: It's located in the sunny suburbs of Aurora. On the corner of Wellington and Industrial. There's not a lot around. It's worth the drive. Parking: Well...it's an industrial area in the suburbs so no parking stress. Go ahead and drive! Decor: On the outside its not much to look at. It's not exactly beckoning. It looks like it's a fast food place. It's not a fast food place though. Inside you notice. No tables. There is a bar around the room with bar stools that you can sit at and eat. This is obviously a big take out place. The room reminds me of Cora's with their farmy city look. Food: Omg. Delicious. Portuguese chicken that's cooked on a grill to order. They actually suggested that the next time we come in we should order ahead so it'll be done when we get there. Honestly, we didn't even wait that long. Not longer than any other restaurant. We got the chicken. You can two sides. I got the quarter chicken with chickpea salad and tasted vegetables. The chicken was terrific. Moist and juicy. It was grilled. I have no idea how they did it. The chickpea salad was super. I would definitely recommend it. The vegetables too. They were roasted/ grilled with a bit of char. What a difference the char makes. My dining companion got the half chicken with rice and cucumber tomato salad. He really likes it too. We were there in the middle of the afternoon and it was busy with people coming in and out for take out. It's a very popular place. Price: Very good value for the amount of food you get! Conclusion: Yeah, I gave it 5 stars. I'm going to be back!

So long Nandos, Hello Chicken place!!! I had all but given up on Portuguese chicken here in the Burbs. Either it was too expensive OR the portions were meager and the chicken was boney. Who would have that my first visit to The Chicken Place after driving past it suspiciously for the past 3-4 years would completely turn my world upside down. It's not an extravagant looking place, just a simply decorated take-away joint with just enough bar stool style seating around the perimeter for those (like me) who know they cannot wait to get home before stuffing their faces. Coming in for a late lunch I knew what I was looking for and ordered it swiftly from the menu: 1/2 Chicken, Parisian Potatoes and a Caesar salad. I will note that the price factor here was at or slightly above what I was used to paying for Portuguese Chicken but as the staff member said "you get what you pay for here, nothing less." A bold statement in my books, many make the claim and few deliver. More on the food in moments... One thing I noticed in the restaurant was the repetition of the statement both on signage in store and by the staff "we are not a fast food, please be patient." I knew something good was cooking here once I read and heard this - who would make such a claim only to serve poor food? Not this place. Totally worth the wait! After approximately 15-20 minutes my chicken, potatoes and salad were ready. The 1/2 chicken was plump and juicy and packed with meat, one of the most moist I've had and not to mention it was covered in a sweet and spicy sauce on the outside - perfectly glazed. More than the generous chicken portion was the portion sizes of the potatoes and salad in my Caesar. The potatoes deserve high marks as well, perfectly cooked on the outside with a slight crisp and almost a mash potato center (that soft!!!). The last thing of high honor for me here was there PeriPeri sauce, clearly made in house and with 3 levels of heat (sweet, medium and Hot - I chose HOT...obviously) there is a delicious sauce for every ones taste. I'm so glad I finally made the trek in here to this conveniently located Aurora take-away shop located at the corner of Industrial Parkway and Wellington Ave. My new fav chicken joint in the burbs - I HIGHLY recommend you try this spot - AMAZEBALLS!! Protip: Due to their prep time to perfection staff encourages you to call ahead and place your order so its ready upon arrival. 21/30

This place is located in same plaza as Domino's pizza in Aurora. It's a self serve place. Order and grab a seat; staff will let you know when your food is ready. Chicken entree comes with 2 choices for sides. They offer a good variety of side dishes to choose from: rice, potato, chickpea and different salad variety. I would say chicken is above average, nothing to rave about and not bad either. Cod cake was delish for $1.25/piece. Shrimp patty was not very good. Portuguese tart was $2.10 which was not worth it IMO. Lunch specials are same price but come with free drinks. Overall, ok food, friendly staff.

I was thrilled to learn about Grandma Loves You (GLY) opening its first location in the greater Toronto area. It's in York region in Aurora. Woo hoo! A few Yelp experiences at GLY's original location in Rosedale made me love the sandwiches and croissants. It has since moved its flagship location to Yonge and St. Clair, and has opened a few more locations. I have yet to visit the one near St. Lawrence Market. Someday, I'll get there. In the meantime, I had to visit this brand new location and made my way up here two Saturdays ago. Out of all their stores, parking here is the best. It's free. It's straightforward. It's easy and stress-free. There were a set of stairs to get you to and from this place. I was hoping that there was a ramp for those who need a wheelchair somewhere. I didn't see one. I got here at around 2 pm. It was pretty busy. My original plan was to dine in. It looked like I had do takeout. I had the most helpful, sweet woman behind the counter. I wanted a meatball sandwich, which is my favourite. I was rusty ordering it. She guided me through everything. You can get their sandwiches that are like subs in either a 6" or 12". I went with the latter. She said that there was a seat just behind me. There were more like lounge chairs. I was down nabbing a comfy chair. I also got a Diet Coke in a can. I needed something to wash everything down. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. She asked for my name and would call me when my order was ready. The best customer service occurred when this woman brought my sandwich to me. Wow! It was such a kind gesture. I thanked her and then tore through it. Oh, how I love the meatball sandwich! So many meatballs were packed into this sandwich. Each meatball was yummy and juicy, with the perfect amount of sauce. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cheese pulled everything together with the most perfect bread. The Diet Coke was in the fridge next to where I was sitting. I grabbed a can. It was cold and delightful. Before I left, I got a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie to go. Starbucks used to offer this cookie eons ago. I don't know why the franchise took it off the menu. It was awesome. Well, this cookie was delicious and make me forget about the Starbucks one. It was packed full of white chocolate and macadamia pieces. It was just under $4 after taxes, but so worth it. I used the washroom before I left. There is only one stall. It was clean. but expect to take turns using it when it's busy. I am glad that I finally visited this location. Welcome to York region and Aurora, GLY! I'll be back for more. (398)

I've never had mortadella before so I ordered the 4 Seasons as well as a hot dog. The hot dog is decent. The sausage is nicely grilled so it enhances that smoky flavor. The bun was a sesame bun but dry - just OK. Not sure it is worth the price or that I'd order it again. But when it comes to the sandwich, the ingredients were so fresh, the meat was delicious, the sauces were yummy, and it is overall composed really well. I'm a very saucy girl so it's slightly on the dry side for me, though. If I had to equate it to another well-known chain, I'd put this up there with Jersey Mike's, but perhaps with an edge because of the curated sauces and freshness. I love you too, Grandma!

What I love about their burger is the juicy patty and the fresh veggies. In addition their spicy chicken burger surprised me with how good it was. It was super juicy on the inside but nice and crispy on the outside. It wasn't too spicy. The inside was clean and wasn't too busy when I arrived so plenty of seating. It was one of many businesses that got me through this weird, uncertain time. For the last few months, I got myself reacquainted with Aurora. Well over a decade ago, I frequented Aurora often. I'm not sure why I stopped visiting, but it has been great returning every few weeks. While rediscovering Aurora, I have noticed this Rudy for a while. It used to be a Starbucks that I frequented often back in the day. It's also nearby a Gong Cha that I love. A couple Saturdays ago, after running a bunch of errands, I felt like lunch. I remembered this place and drove up the 404 to get here. There was plenty of parking when I got here at roughly 3 pm. I parked and walked in. I needed to use the washroom, so I made a left to use it. There are two single stalls. The door handle tells you whether it's vacant or occupied. The one that I used before and after my meal was clean. I headed over to the counter to place my order. I got Sarah, who was super patient and friendly. I looked at the combos menu. I went with the rude dude combo. The rude dude is a double cheeseburger. I got it with bacon, which meant that my burger was tattooed. I liked that I got a small poutine as the side because the poutine at Rudy's is excellent. I also got a fountain drink. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. She let me know when my food was ready. I found a table by the wall with windows. I filled my cup with ice and Diet Coke. It was so refreshing. I went back to refill my cup because I needed more of it to wash my food down. It is drafty in this eatery. Most folks had their coats and jackets on. There was a heater in the corner, which did little to heat the entire eatery. I looked at my receipt. Sarah had asked for my name. It was Marrie on the receipt. Close enough! My order was number 71. I thought that I'd hear the number called out and fetch my order. Nope. Sarah brought my food over on a tray. So nice! I thanked her and went to town eating my late lunch. My rude dude burger tasted yummy and fresh. I loved the buttery leafy lettuce, juicy sliced tomatoes, two slices of cheese, sauce, and bacon. The two smashed beef patties were flavourful and perfectly grilled. The bun was soft and held everything together. I loved being reunited with this burger! The poutine was excellent. The gravy was perfect to melt the cheese curds. The fries were perfection. It is the perfect side with the rude dude. I love that this Rudy location is in Aurora. I'll be back again for more good eats. (502)

Open face smoke salmon sandwich - the sandwich is a generous size and the ingredients are quite fresh. The combination of the ingredient between the smoked salmon, pickled onion and cucumber goes well together with the bread. I wouldn't this is the best sandwich I ever had but its a good sandwich. The 3 potatoes ball are good, warm and creamy. 2. Dutch style Caesar salad - this salad tastes different than the Caesar salad I normally had. They replace the croutons with something that also looks like croutons but tastes about like couscous (I could be wrong). I liked it. The "bacon", it's replaced with some other kind of fried pork belly. It's salt with some nice pork fat, it's guilty food for me but I loved it and goes well with the salad. 3. Mushroom salad - this salad has lots of different little ingredients and makes this salad great. The mustard vinegrette goes well with this salad. I enjoyed the food very much and would visit again but the total cost is about $63 for 3 items and not cheap in my opinion. I should of ask for the itemized receipt because I don't know how much each dish cost. It would be nice for them to provide the itemized receipt without me asking. Considering the good food quality but the price is abit on the high side, I was struggling if giving a 4 or 5 stars. I would want to give 4.5, so I round up to 5 this time
