History
Established in 2018.
In 2018, owner's Ray and Amie Ferris purchased the Old Cut Boat Livery from Ray's parents after 45 years of ownership. The couple are 4th generation owners and wanted to bring back "The Chip Ship" which Ray operated during the 1990's at the Livery.
So the two headed out on a mission to find the perfect food truck to serve the area. They created a menu featuring many favourites, local food and offered different specialties.
They opened in June of 2018 and enjoyed a very successful first season seeing many repeat customers (some daily), and served many locals and visitors to Long Point.
During the fall of 2018 the duo offered Dill Pickle Fries as a weekend special. They wet viral. And now they’re considered Home of the Original Dill Pickle Fry.
Meet the Business Owner: Ray F.
Known to many as Realtor Ray, Ray is the Broker and owner of Erie's Edge Real Estate Ltd., and also the owner of the Old Cut Boat Livery. Ray has also served as the President of the Ontario Real Estate Association representing over 70,000 Realtors across Ontario.
Born and raised in Long Point, Ray's love for fishing, boating and the water drove him to purchase the family business, Old Cut Boat Livery in 2018. As a fourth generation owner of the Livery, Ray wanted to offer customers more. So he purchased a new food truck for the Livery. In the 1990's Ray operated a different "Chip Ship" on the Livery property. It's success and encouragement from those who remember the original Chip Ship was enough convince Ray to revive the Chip Ship.
Ray's always had a passion for cooking, so what better way to share it. His specialty is smoked beef brisket, that is featured as a special on occasion at the food truck. He also offers a secret recipe Lake Erie perch that the locals rav about.
