Main point-Solid food location for fried fish. Don't let the location deter you the food is good. The Pub sauce is a nice switch up as a dipping sauce for the chips. The chicken tenders were a hit with the kids-crispy batter and juicy chicken. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. The young man was polite and efficient. Would love to see a changing table to be more family friendly as well. I'd love to also see some salad options to pair with the fried options but I also know that's not typical. We would come again if craving fish and chips.

The cod fish & chips were excellent. The curry sauce on point. Truly a very British authentic "Chippy". Quaint and quick service.

Late one evening while driving through Yorktown, we came upon The Chipper and decided to stop in for some fish & chips. Bright and spacious, the friendly staff took our order. They have three different kinds of fish & chips: cod, haddock or flounder, and we decided to go with the cod and haddock. Out came a huge portion of fried fish atop a bed of fries (chips) and a ramekin of mayonnaise. The fish was perfectly cooked, the breading a little thick but still tasty. The cod was meatier but the haddock was more flavorful. But either way, definitely worth it. After the fish, there wasn't much room for the chips! As good as any fish & chips I ever had. If you're nearby, give The Chipper a try!

If you're looking for a meal that will "ding dang do" the Chipper in Yorktown, VA, is where you'll find it. This spot isn't just another dodgy fish-and-chips joint, it's a "proper chipper", bringing a taste of Dublin straight to the heart of Virginia. Founded in 2018 by Patrick O'Carroll, The Chipper was born out of a love for authentic British and Irish comfort food. O'Carroll, originally from Dublin, knew that every neighborhood back home had a "chipper," a place where locals could grab a hot, crispy serving of fish and chips. Seeing a gap in the market, he decided to bring that tradition stateside, and thus, The Chipper was born. From the moment you step inside, the Liverpool FC scarf hanging on the wall lets you know this place isn't just about food, it's about culture. Even though a Sunderland FC Scarf would look better. The menu is focused on British classics, from beer-battered cod to Heinz baked beans, proving that sometimes, doing fewer things but doing them exceptionally well is the key to success. Now, onto the food review. The fish and chips? You know it makes total sense as it was flaky, golden, and weview worthy. The battered sausage (ohhhh matron) though? Arseways to breakfast, not quite hitting the mark. It's a spendy affair, but if you're after a "riiiice" meal, the fish and chips alone make it worth the trip. Snout wrong with it. The Chipper isn't just a local favorite, it's expanding. As of 2022, O'Carroll has been looking into franchising the restaurant across Hampton Roads. With its dedication to authenticity and quality, it's no surprise that locals and visitors alike keep coming back for more. Would I go back? Absolutely! Why I'm some lyrical genius.

This review is a little bit late as life as life has taken over my small business appreciation. I have passed this place a gazillion times and never stopped. Today I did. The food is fabulous. Fish and chips are just right with generous portions. The menu is extensive. Too much really. They can just do fish and chips and call it good. The 4 stars is because the interior needs help. It is just without any aesthetics or ambiance. It has such a British menu vibe and a villiage thrift shop interior. Drinks are available from a fridge so no fountain drinks or brewed tea. Great food and best for take out.

Sophia and I last stopped by here almost 4 years ago and liked our meal. So we decided to stay on this side of the water on a recent Saturday afternoon and head back here for some lunch. We were the only table seated so service was pretty quick. Basically, you go up to the counter and order your meal. There are only a few tables available but with foot traffic mostly minimal due to takeout service, you should have no problem with dine-in. For apps, we had fried pickles and my main course was fish and chips with flounder as the choice of seafood. I will admit that I wasn't a big fan of the fried pickles. I like mine more of a light coating, even though they were seasoned. But Sophia enjoyed them so I won't knock them for that. Different strokes, different folks. However, the main course was pretty good. Great breading for the fish and plenty of fries in the basket. Some were fried a little too much, but it was fine for me. Not a bad lunch if I say so myself. Next time I'll probably try haddock for fish. But either choice should be okay. Till next time :)

My fiancé and I got the chance to sit down and dine at this place after a whole night of drinking. It was a great cure for my hangover. Great fish and chips and extremely tasty curry sauce (the fish tastes good dipped in it as well). Our order was rung up by a nice staff member who advised us not get additional curry chips on top of our fish and chips meal because it would be too many chips for a bigger additional charge. He instead offered up just getting the curry sauce to accompany our meal at a lower cost. I think others would have taken advantage of that opportunity to profit off of naïve customers, so we truly appreciated him for not letting us blindly order from the menu and keeping it fair! He was absolutely right because we were really stuffed by the end of our fish and chips meal. Loved it here. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the simplicity of the place and the kind staff. We highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Are you craving fish and chips? Then you're in the right place. They got the classics! Fish and chips, curry sauce, mushy peas. What more could I ask for?! My craving satisfied, and my tummy full. The fish was fried well and the tartar sauce was A+. Go ahead and dip those chips in some curry sauce. Heaven. A great little place, which makes it feel nice and homey. Service was great. It was fast and delicious! The cashier was cool. You can also grab some awesome British snacks, which I definitely did. They got Jaffa cakes, and I'm going to be honest I saw Tom Holland hype these cookies up. So I'm excited to try them! Come out and give them a try!

COD and chips with Curry Sauce. Sooo good!

Based on what we had and the speed of food delivery, I'd give Farmer's Table on Warwick 4/5 stars…read more We had four burgers, a chili dog, and tater tots. I think the tater tots were my favorite part - they were the perfect crispness. Burgers were delicious but messy, especially when your kids don't understand how to eat a burger with the paper wrapped around it so the toppings don't drip out and fall apart. The grease didn't soak through the buns like other people talked about, but it definitely had some liquid coming off. Still, delicious! There were a lot of people in line to order when we got there, and we were worried it would take a long time, but the orders were coming out pretty rapidly and we didn't wait too long. They do have some coloring books and a puzzle to keep little kids entertained while waiting, which was much appreciated. They also have a small farm shop in the next room with various items for sale. Overall, we would come back to support the farm-to-table concept, but not necessarily because of the food.

Well, it's been five years since my last review...and this place apparently didn't impress enough…read morefor me to revisit, despite being quite close to my workplace. I'm just not terribly crazy about the "order at the counter" style of restaurant if I'm going out to eat. But, I belong to a group that decided to meet here for an event, so I ended up giving it another shot. The interior is still cute, and the concept is nice. I like that you can get mini/micro pours of things. I feel like it used to be a set amount, but now you can literally just pour a taste to see if you like it with a micro charge and then add more or move on if you don't like it. That was really useful since I'm not much of a beer drinker - it took me a while to find one I could sip on. I ordered the sliders - now what I thought was cool about this (and again, I don't remember it being this way the last time I was there, but I also ordered whole burgers last time) is that you could customize your sliders. So I was able to order three different sliders which was awesome. I tried the bourbon, the brie, and the shrooms. Of the trio, the bourbon was my favorite and the other two were sort of a toss up second place. They were cooked correctly and hit the spot. Overall, I'd say it was a notch up from my last visit and I'd be willing to try it again if I'm in the mood for some mini burgers!

Clearly have a buttermilk soak of some kind and great seasoning. Filled my craving and I wanted more. They also reheated well in the oven, so I was able to use leftovers to make chicken and waffles for Sunday brunch. On the not so lovely - both the honey mustard and the BBQ sauce that came with them were HORRIBLE. It was like taking a masterfully cooked filet and slathering ketchup on it instead of a nice mushroom or butter sauce. I also picked up the sweet potato fries, and although the portion was huge, they were all just mush - not crispy on the outside at all. Bleck. Since my previous review, it's also important to note that the prices are SUPER way more expensive now. So I took it down one star for those aspects.

Let's do a review!!!…read more It's been a while since my last visit to Burger Theory, so while in the area and having a taste for a burger, I thought I would give them a visit. Now again, Burger Theory is inside the Omini or Holiday Inn (I can't recall which) Hotel in Newport News. The place has a serious chill vibe to it. It's a sports bar / casual dining and okay for the kids. There's a full bar, plenty of TVs with live sporting events on, plenty of seating indoors, and nice patio seating. It was a little on the chilly side, so you may want to have a light jacket ready. The menu includes hamburger glory (hence the name), appetizers, and some serious drinks. Table service, clean bathrooms ( which is a good indicator of how the kitchen may look), and the decor scream hotel dining. I noticed a steak option on the menu; thinking outside the box, I got that instead - I found out it was not a big seller, but I went with it anyway. The steak was not the best; it made me sick, but Our excellent waitress, Kelly, took it back and let me order something else. In the end, she took off 20% of the price. So they aim to please the customer. The wife had a traditional Breakfast Burger highlighting the breakfast theme--fresh sweet potato fries and onion rings are available, and dill pickle comes with every platter. Please read what's on the burgers; there may be something you don't like or have questions about- they will gladly serve it on the side, eliminate it, or give you extra if you like. Now, they have a variety of chef-crafted burgers, or you can build your own. Burgers are made with ground beef, brisket, or steak cut as a choice. The build-your-own burger option has plenty of options, and I recommend this. Side options are French fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings slaw, and grilled veggies - all served fresh and hot. They reserve the salt, but plenty of condiments are at your table. I didn't notice if they have vegan options, for I am a meat and potatoes man. Ultimately, we paid $54 without a tip, so I added $20 for our exceptional waitress, Kelly, and their overall customer service. There is a full bar and spacious seating, and it is just a great place to watch a sporting event. My numbers are service 10/10, food 8/10, cleanliness 7/10, and 10/10 for the sports bar vibe. It's definitely a great place to visit if you're there and worth a planned visit. I'll be back!! Happy Yelping!!
