I can not believe I have not reviewed Food Craft. It is a very popular spot for the local area. I often see the parking lot full and there is line outside the door or others standing around. I can understand why, the menu is decent and the food and service is great. This is the brunch place to be. When you walk in , it is pretty open. There is tables throughout and it is fairly clean. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was fantastic at my recent visit. I was there with my friend and a teen who is special needs. Our waitress was very engaging with them and took her time with them. I was so happy about that. Our food was amazing. My husband was with me once and he had the scotch eggs and said they were some of the best he has had. My food has always come out piping hot. I enjoy my blueberry pancakes. I like that you can get one plain and one blueberry. The blueberries on my pancake were spaced out well. There is a nice large lot to park in. There are various other businesses around food craft that share that lot. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. This was my second time here. The first was trash but everyone has an off day so I gave them another chance. Nope. Food came out ice cold. I'm not exaggerating. It came out super quick too so they have to be making it ahead and just letting it sit. I had country fried steak, eggs over medium, toast and home fries and a side of bacon. The home fries and steak were lukewarm, the eggs were literally cold like they sat in the refrigerator, the bacon was also damned close to being that cold. The toast was cold as can be, barely toasted, no butter, not cut. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said there is butter on the table. That's it. She really seemed like it was a bother to have to serve customers at all. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I don't know how this place has any positive reviews at all. I sent my entire meal back but still paid for coffee and the side of bacon (and my sons' meals of waffles and French toast). I didn't want mine remade. Still cost me nearly 50 dollars for this trash, and no offer to make it right other than removing exactly what I sent back. My other and more serious concern is food safety. IF they ARE cooking this ahead and storing it in a way that leaves it cold or room temp, bacteria is a big concern. I'm typing this from the toilet and my stomach is going through it right now. I have eaten here previously some time ago, but every time I am in the area the line is outside to get in with at least a 20 minute wait, often longer. I remembered they have scotch eggs, and while these were small, they were tasty and nicely prepared. My blueberry pancakes were full of plump blueberries. The two with me raved about their choices. The portions were huge. Service was friendly and responsive. The space is small but makes good use of the space with tables, with a small outdoor seating area but it is easy to see why it fills up so quickly, especially on weekends. The food is so good and the price point as expected. It is easy to see why this is such a popular eatery. If I could get in the door when I'm in the area I'd love to be regular! read more

We went Food Craft in Newport News for breakfast and really enjoyed it! The atmosphere is clean, relaxed, and welcoming. It's a nice place to sit down and enjoy a good meal. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu. I had the ribeye and eggs, which were cooked perfectly for me. It's a thin ribeye so medium to medium rare is perfect to me. The chicken and waffles were good too. The waffle was light and delicious, and the chicken wings were big and crispy (just could use a little more seasoning). Overall, it's a solid chicken and waffle. The wait time is usually around 20-25 minutes, but it's worth it once your food hits the table. The food does not take long after seated which is always a plus. read more

I finally had an opportunity to visit Food Craft. On the weekends a line forms on the sidewalk, and due to working during the week so I usually do not have an opportunity to stop in. And to be honest, I'm not sure what the excitement was all about. Interior is fairly basic, no frills, with one wall having signage with sayings and photos of customers. Seating was ample and the staff did seat me quickly. I had a veggie omelette, potatoes, biscuit and coffee. The food came very quickly, and while the omelette and biscuit were good and warm, the potatoes were cold. I noticed the omelette sat over some of the potatoes which warmed some of them up. I thought about saying something, but I kind of let it go...and should not have. The person who waited on me had almost no inflection, almost impersonal to somewhat mechanical in delivery which I found to be surprising. As soon as I done eating the plate got wisked off the table (I almost said "you must be short of plates..."), and while told "No rush", the check was also delivered with speed. It was not like they needed the table (see photo). To be honest I felt like I was getting the bums rush. Overall...the food was average to good albeit cold potato's, and while at a reasonable price, with the impersonal service and the perception of being pushed, doubt I would ever visit again. I hate ending 2025 with such a negative review, especially about locally owned businesses which I prefer to support. We normally come to this restaurant every Sunday upon opening. Everything was great until New Year's Day 2026. We ordered as normal and our food came out burnt. We sent it back several times and it looked like burnt eggs were mixed with fresh eggs. A cook or someone from kitchen came out and looked at us and returned to kitchen . We ended up leaving paying for our tea some have burnet food. Took pictures for proof. Will probably never go back. Very up setting because food was always perfect before this. This place is always great. They usually have a line out the door from opening until about 12. We have been here more than 6 times in the last year and maybe more and it's consistently good with great service. If I had to be not picky the only negative isn't really negative if you understand. Then they are busy with a line out the door, when it is obvious you're finished and have paid they politely ask if you're done. It makes sense because they need the table for more customers. 10/10 I highly recommend. Myself, my husbae and another couple dined here a few Sunday's ago for brunch. Our guy friend only eats turkey so I had to put on my handy dandy Yelp gloves to search for a place with great reviews and had turkey options on the menu. After an extensive search, I came up with this place. We arrived close to 1pm I believe, and there was a wait to be seated. We waited about 25 minutes, but it was worth the wait!! The staff was super friendly and our food came out in like 5 minutes or less it seems. Our server, Evette, was comical and easy on the eyes. She made some suggestions of what was good and items she recommended since this was our first time visiting. I ordered the ribeye with eggs and check out the pics to see what the other diners ordered. It seems like I remember them ordering pancakes and they said they were really good. Nevertheless, we ate it all!! I had about 3 ounces of steak left that I took home and ate it the next morning, so good! My husbae was a little disappointed because they did not have his Crown Royal, so he could not have a libation with his meal, bummer! Because I sholl had a mimosa and it was tasty. Parking was plentiful as this place is located in a shopping center. This was a 40+ minute drive for us, but well worth the hike. Went here for the first time recently and enjoyed myself thoroughly! Our service was prompt, kind, and efficient. The inside was busy so we decided to sit outside instead of indoors. Music was good and enjoyable as well during brunch time! I ordered the (2) Blueberry Pancake Plate w/ over easy eggs & sausage & a side dish of Hash brown casserole. This is such a cool place tucked away in a shopping plaza in Yorktown. The food is excellent! I had the grilled salmon salad, a side of turkey sausage, and of course a blueberry pancake. Everything was delicious!! The fluffiness of the pancake was amazing. The service was decent. I also had a poinsettia (i.e., a cranberry mimosa). They have a bar area, and a good amount of tables. They can also accommodate groups. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner items - but only during breakfast and lunch hours. I can't go back to try something else. read more

I've heard so much about Food Craft, so when I knew I was going to be in the area, I decided to meet up with some friends for a breakfast date. - Parking - It's located inside the Village Square center in Yorktown. Parking is plentiful. - TLC - The restaurant was pretty full for a Friday morning, but we were seated right away. We got an awesome doll of a waitress! Super chill, personable, laughed at our silly jokes (that always scores bonus points with us LOL) and she put up with my friends and I haha. More bonus points. - Sips + Noms - My friends and I like to eat family style so we can get a little bit of everything and get to taste it all. Iced coffee - looked like chocolate milk. I think this is one of those premade flavored type of iced coffees you get at the grocery store in the carton boxes. I was fine with it. Scotch Eggs - This was the first time I had scotch eggs and I thought these were tasty. Not overdone. The yolk was still yellow and not green, which is a sign of over doneness. Definitely a great plate to share, but I don't think I would eat a whole plate of it on my own, unless I treated it like a meal. Fried Green Tomatoes - These were great! Tender green tomatoes and I loved the crust around it. Served with some creamy white sauce. Ranch? Chicken & Waffles - I heard from my friend that they had some great chicken at Food Craft, so it was a no brainer in ordering something with chicken. Getting it with waffles made them even better. Country Fried Steak - I was actually pretty impressed by the steak in this dish. I thought it was just going to be thin steak egg washed, battered and fried. They went a step further and pounded it, tenderized it, to the point that it almost looked like a hamburger steak, but thinner. I really enjoyed it, the mashed potatoes could have used a bit more salt or even more of the sausage gravy. Cinnabun pancake - one of my fave parts of the breakfast! It's fluffy, cinnamony and just delicious. My friend and I fought over every piece and cleared that plate. We should have ordered more of the pancakes and cut out one of the other plates! Blueberry pancake - one of my friends ate this one. I'm sure it was about the same fluffiness as the Cinnabun ones. I didn't hear any complaints. Biscuit - one of my friends ordered this last minute and I got to taste a piece, and it was great with the whipped butter from my waffles and some strawberry jam. Our last day in Yorktown and we wanted to go out with a bang ‼ And we did just that. We wanted breakfast and lunch and good food. And we got just that. When we arrived we saw sooo many people standing outside waiting. So we knew yep it's good food and it's crowded. We put our name on the list. The lady said the waitress about 15 minutes. So not too bad. The atmosphere was soooo cute. The set up and the chalkboard was cute! To top it off they had $5 mimosas! What a steal!! You can't what that. What an amazing price. I must have driven past this place a thousand times before I searched for "breakfast near me"; it's at the end of a strip mall, set bank from the road behind fast food options. The decor is a mix of coffee shop and neighborhood bar, comfortable and not pretentious. There were a few large groups, so I can't say how the noise level may be on a normal day. The staff were all friendly and service was prompt. The food arrived faster than I would have thought possible! Portions are big for the price, everything was correct as ordered, and delicious! I have a love for food craft that only grows stronger and stronger each time I visit. I've been here plenty of times before but I've always been stuck on their French toast. On this day I decided to venture out and try their infamous chicken and waffles. After ordering them, it made complete sense as to why the chicken and waffles there are infamous. They are hands down DELICIOUS. If you are eating breakfast here, you cannot go wrong with chicken and waffles or their French toast. Prices are great. And service is always great and fast! Weekends are super busy so always expect a wait to be seated- very much worth the wait!!! Weekdays are not as busy but you'd be surprised to see how many guests they have on a Wednesday morning. Something about rainy days sometimes makes me crave breakfast for lunch. Food Craft fit the bill and more. I went in a little after 1pm. The restaurant was busy. My order was taken and delivered promptly. I got the Traditioal Breakfast and, oh my, was it good! They did not skimp one bit on the serving of bacon or the "short" stack (2 large pancakes with a heaping scoop of butter). The hash brown were just lightly crispy and not over cooked and my eggs over medium were perfect. The coffee was just right, too: flavorful but not too strong or bitter. I highly recommend them for breakfast food. Restaurant was  very clean, and orderly atmosphere. The host was very helpful and accommodating with seating and our server was awesome. What a perfect way to start make our day better. We traveled to Newport News on an urgent family issue that was bad as it gets. We were emotionally fried and in bad shape. On our way out of town we asked at the hotel for a good breakfast. 'Food Craft!' they said. Man, were they right. Our server was bright, cheerful, and on point. Only issue, my husband likes his scrambled eggs well done (a bit browned) and ordered them that way but they were cooked normally, not well done. He still ate them and they tasted good but he would have preferred them cooked more. The Belgian waffle he had with his eggs was yummy. The biggest drawback in my opinion is the customer service as our server seem not able to crack a smile or say a simple hello. I have to try other things on the menu because some sounded promising.
