My mother-in-law and father-in-law wanted to take us and a few of their grandchildren out for ice cream this past Saturday. Since we had never been to the Chocolate Gallery before, we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. Instead of being greeted with friendly faces, the two women working at the front looked visibly unhappy to see us--especially the children. It felt very strange, considering this is a chocolate shop that you'd expect to be welcoming to families. Despite my in-laws spending a good amount of money, we didn't feel that our business was appreciated. The one bright spot was the man working behind the glass making chocolates. He seemed to genuinely enjoy children and was smiling and waving at them, which the kids loved. I've been to couple of chocolate factories/galleries, and I would say $3 for a piece is very common price. However, the issue is, here, the chocolate is smaller than other places I went to, and they taste just okay. Man, $3 for a tiny piece of chocolate, my expectation has been set high for how much I paid. I ordered Whoop pie (the Texas A&M logo one) and royal pecan. Unfortunately neither of them reached my expectations. Some artisan brand chocolates in grocery store are larger and taste better. They also have hot chocolate, cheesecakes, ice cream, and other bakery items available. Cakes are about $7-10 per piece, cookies are about $2-3. One of the good places to get good chocolates.. I tried their sugar free dark chocolate bar, Italian chocolate , and a mocha filled cup shaped chocolate. I recommend the bar and the cup shaped chocolate. They first one was very tasty and is not extremely sweet. The second had intricate feeling to it and I absolutely loved them both. The clear glass windows let you see the art of chocolate making and the sculptures that they have showcased in their shop is pretty impressive. read more

I truly do have wonderful friendships that have lasted a lifetime and although downtown Bryan no longer has "My White Store" (i.e, Woolworths, where my mother would take me in my lace-edged dresses and patent leather white shoes to the lunch counter for a Cherry Coke and french fries if it was a special day) downtown has now been upgraded with some wonderful new locations ... THIS being one I was pleased to find. Being able to watch the chefs at work and eat the chocolates they make write off the shelf was a treat. Add in the comfy seating and the coffee (which could have been a bit stronger for my taste) and you have a great niche to stop at and enjoy the sweet life that exists in a small town square. read more

Interesting place and definitely worth checking out. Everything looks fancy but don't assume it's too expensive. You can get small item for a few $. They box everything up really nice almost too pretty to unwrap...even if we were only walking over to a table to eat it. One complaint I would have is that I asked for a cup of water and was giving the smallest paper cup of water you can imagine. They could use a water fountain. Of course they sell bottled water so I guess that's what they would hope you would buy. read more

The mixed reviews made me a little apprehensive, but this place was well worth it. We had 5 chocolates: 70% cacao, habanero, key lime pie, red velvet cake, and carrot cake. They were all delicious! My wife likes spicy chocolate, and the habanero chocolate was perfect, with strong chocolate flavor while chewing and a delicate, lingering heat after eating. There was not a flat one in the bunch. We also got a carrot cake cupcake, which was fantastic. The cake was moist with just the right amount of crunch from the carrot. The frosting was also delicious, with maybe a hint of lemon? Many people thought this place was too expensive, but I appreciated the high quality I was paying for. If you want bulk value, I recommend putting yourself out to pasture with a feedbag full of Hershey kisses. If you want to sample a few delicacies, I highly recommend this place. I took off one star for a variety of reasons. First, they were low on inventory on many of their offerings, which was a little disappointing. Second, the large space inside is not well utilized, making the place feel empty even when people are hanging out. They could definitely benefit from an interior designer to help them properly maximize the massive space. I also sorely missed a large menu on the wall, which could perhaps highlight special offerings and better explain the pricing. Finally, they sell coffee but only drip coffee from a large carafe. I didn't feel as if the coffee really went with the chocolate. I bought an Aggie velvet cupcake from The Chocolate Gallery, and I was extremely disappointed. The cake itself was inexcusably dry and lacking flavor. The frosting lacked flavor and was whipped, which I don't think went well with the cake. It was a little expensive at nearly five dollars. I feel like I can make better cupcakes at home for half the price. I would not recommend getting a cupcake here. The chocolates are hit or miss and absolutely too expensive. I noticed this place on first Friday and bought a box of 6 chocolates to split with my friend. The box of six cost $19 so they are more expensive than Truman's, my expectations where high since I am a big fan of Truman's and every single flavor I have tried at Truman's has been delicious. I chose milk chocolate with pumpkin filling, a caramel apple candy, and a strawberry candy. The pumpkin one was the best of the three, the caramel apple was mostly caramel, and the strawberry was fine but nothing extraordinary. If this place was cheaper than Truman's it would definitely give it a run for it's money, however since it is not, I'll be sticking with Truman's for my candies. Okay so this review I feel is much more heavily based on their service than their actual product. The chocolate is absolutely delicious. I have to preface I came on a really bad day where they were significantly understaffed and there were about 5 people waiting to order. Generally I wouldn't' mind the wait, however I was in a rush that day and the one worker was clearly not well organized to assist customers. She kept going out of order (Most likely an accident) and took quite some time to do even the simplest tasks. The worst part was a woman that needed to place a large bulk order who she helped for nearly twenty minutes while everyone else was waiting to pick up on or two quick orders. I really wish she had gone through and asked what she could get started for each person and push out the quicker options first. Very huge, so so moist. Lots of frosting, which I love. It's fun to pop in and see what the specialty cupcakes are for the day. They have gelato now and it is tasty as well! Such interesting flavors. We stopped by after lunch for some of the chocolates that I've been dying to try for YEARS! My husband and I selected the white chocolate raspberry fudge, key lime pie, Dr. Pepper, and Rumchata truffles. Every single one was a disappointment. The white chocolate raspberry was entirely too sweet and had no raspberry flavor at all. The key lime pie was too bitter and the graham cracker crust had a weird aftertaste. The Dr. Pepper one was too sweet, as well, and tasted nothing like Dr. Pepper. The Rumchata had a weird flavor as well, definitely not Rumchata. I gave this place a 1 for a few reasons. First, I tried it once about 3 weeks ago, and then again yesterday. The first time I went, my friends and I each got a cupcake and then shared so we could try different ones. The cake was dense and dry, almost brownie like except with no flavor and overcooked. The frosting was piled on so high, there was more frosting than anything. It had an okay flavor, but was too sugary and the texture was weird. Bad first impression. Yesterday, the same group of friends and I decided to try it again and brought a couple more people. This time we got an assortment of chocolates, cookies, and a couple cupcakes. The chocolates were the best, though Truman's are a little better and a little less expensive. The cupcakes were the same, horrible. We tried the cookies and cream one, the white chocolate raspberry, and the Maroon Velvet something. The raspberry filling was actually okay, the rest terrible. Then the cookies... The sugar cookies that were iced were edible, but the spritz cookie tasted like paper. It was dry, dense as a rock, and the fruit in the center(we had a raspberry one and an apricot one) was terrible. It had ZERO flavor. The chocolate peanut butter was not good, but the Strawberry Marscapone chocolate was actually pretty amazing. That was the one thing we had that was worth anything. Don't waste your time.
