My husband says they have a decent selection of cigars. People come here to work, when we walked in everyone was on their laptops. Chicago isn't one of my "top" cities for cigars, BUT, this spot has one of the better non-member areas I have seen. Very cool place to stop and have a cigar. The gut working was super cool and helpful with cigar selections. The pros: nice place to relax and smoke. The cons: Hours are terrible. Not open on a Saturday night? Closing at 9pm? Parking in the area can be tough! Hopefully the hours extend and it would become my regular stop. read more

I've passed by the Clayton many times while walking the area, but I finally stopped in and I'm really glad I did. The space looks just as good as in pictures, very clean and modern. The chairs are comfy and perfect for a nice long smoke. The humidor is encased in glass and has a glass sliding door which is a very chic way of displaying their cigar selection. The prices are reasonable and they carry quite a few premium cigars, including a cigar of the week that is showcased and discounted, I believe. This has to be one of the snootiest places I've ever been in my life. I went in to smoke a cigar and hoping to check out membership for the private area. Apparently I didn't look the part because I received zero attention other then being told to pull my mask over my nose multiple times. Then watched a member walk in and case the entire joint with no mask on at all. While I can easily afford to join this place, I would never become a member of a place that clearly judges people so quickly. excellent day at the Clayton yesterday with an old friend. smoked a Sobremesa that was a sweet, mellow smoke. As always, the vibe was chill and relaxed. Great place to spend an afternoon with an old friend. Love that the music is chill and the tv is on but not dominant. Such a relief to be able to be back in person and take a break from work with a good smoke. I have one complaint. We were picking out our cigars and being helped by a nice, knowledgable employee named Aussie who was giving us good advice when a co-worker stepped literally right in front of her and started advising us and went on and on with a kind of wise-cracky salespitch until she left the walk-in humidor because he wouldn't let her get a word in edgewise. Seems like she was new and he was more experienced and maybe training her, but still it was rude, and a poor approach to training. I look forward to getting some advice from Aussie at future visit. read more

Nice venue with an average selection. I was really excited about a new cigar lounge so close to the loop but it hard to get behind a place that I'll rarely be able to visit. They close at 7pm, so basically 6pm is the latest you would want to actually be firing up a heater. Nothing is better to me than taking a client out for a cigar after a nice steak dinner .. but the Clayton closes at 7pm... So this could never happen. I stumbled on this place based off the giant "Cigars" sign and I am glad that I did. This place is super modern and it looks like they dumped tons of money into this place when they renovated the building. Their humidor is all glass and they have a wide variety of pre-embargo cuban cigars. This is so cool, and rare to find anywhere that is willing to share their pre-embargo hoard. The day I went was beautiful outside so all of the windows were open. This lead to an even better experience and I felt like I was at a rooftop bar.
