I looked into a lot of cleaning services and compared prices and thought that The Cleaning Authority sounded like the best deal. So I set up an in-home consultation. After meeting with a very nice lady for about 45 min, she informed me that there was a one time fee for the initial clean. The fee was almost $300! I couldn't believe the initial cleaning fee wasn't advertised better on their website. I feel like I wasted a lot of effort and time. read more

I contacted the Cleaning Authority after receiving a flyer in the mail. I liked the idea of "rotation cleaning" with special emphasis on different areas during each clean. The flyer also talked about a checklist that is provided after each clean so you can see what was actually done. This seemed to make a lot of sense to me so I called for an estimate. I have been using a private individual for over 2 years and although he did an initial deep clean, certain items were not maintained with regular cleanings such as baseboards and obscure places where dust can accumulate. I have also used commercial cleaning services and other individuals over the years. In all cases, the quality of the cleanings deteriorated over time and I eventually changed. We had our first initial clean from Cleaning Authority and my family and I were impressed. As someone else said on here, we started to notice small details; like the glass knobs on an antique dresser seemed to sparkle and the floor (we have all wood and tile - no carpet at all) felt and looked really clean. The lamps on nightstands were thoroughly dusted and footboard and headboard on wood sleigh bed was wiped down and really cleaned. Baseboards, door trim and bedroom doors (all white) were scrubbed clean of kid fingerprints, etc. My point is, our 10 year old home feels really clean for the first time in a long time. I'm looking forward to seeing how the rotation clean system works. Another stand out feature was the follow up from the owner to get my feedback. The initial clean is by the hour. To ensure you are billed accurately, the cleaners call the office from your home phone at beginning and end of job to accurately record time via caller ID. Also, toward the end of job, a supervisor came by to inspect the work. I was skeptical about leaving the ease and flexibility of working with an individual and Cleaning Authority is approx 10% higher in price, but my initial experience was impressive. The owner seems to be a hard worker, is easy to communicate with and is very focused on customer service and satisfaction. This update to my review is to clarify that the review was primarily regarding disorganization of the company (managers not instructed on company policy, cleaning staff not provided with parking space numbers, etc) and really bad cleaning (two tries and still dirty wood floors). The chipping of my tub and lack of responsibility for it was simply insult to injury. But I do want to address some points you (the owner) made in your reply. First, just because you and I can't imagine how your staff might have chipped my tub does not mean they didn't chip the tub. The repair company you directed me to indicated that it's likely that the contractor grade tub chips easily and didn't mention anything to me about your staff scrubbing so hard they could peel a previous repair off. In fact, the repair company instructed me that the first step in a repair is to sand down the area yet this chip has sharp edges. The fact is that the chip wasn't there in the morning and no one was in the house but your staff. Second, I have an email from you in which you indicated I would have to agree not to post a review, my partner could not post a review, and I could not encourage my friends to post a review. I was staggered that you had given it that much thought. Finally, I am not personally involved in any lawsuits with the developers of my condo, especially not regarding a tub. You are correct, however, that I did ultimately give up on getting the repair fix paid for by you. The company you chose for the repair suggested I go with the alternate company because they believed they did a better job of making the repair undetectable. Unfortunately, the alternate company had an accelerated contract with a hotel chain and advised me they could not get to my repair in a timely manner. This was just as well because this review was earned most importantly with a very poor cleaning job after two opportunities to make it right. read more

After increasingly bad experiences with another local cleaning service, we went with The Cleaning Authority. As with other services, the depth of the cleaning depends a bit upon which team comes out. However, across the board our biweekly house cleans have been more than acceptable and we are very happy. We come home to a spotless house, with all the furniture and carpets thoroughly vacuumed. The sink, stove, appliances, etc are all beautiful and crumb free. They have always been more than patient with our occasional need to switch days or times. In fact, my biggest complaints have been that sometimes they get a bit over excited and straighten my papers on my desk (thus losing my place in my work) and occasionally the cleaners don't want to go in because the dogs are barking and they are scared (the dogs are confined, but I can't keep them from barking). So one of my biggest problems is that they clean too much. Oh woe is me. I feel like they do a very good job and things don't just appear to be clean, but are actually clean. I am very grateful, as we can use the time we would have been cleaning to hang out and have fun as a family on the weekends. That's a luxury that I am thankful they give us. read more

Just had TCA come for our deep clean yesterday, and we keep inviting everyone to come over just to see how amazing our house looks! I have used another cleaning service for seven years and was very satisfied, but our area had a franchise change and the cleaning went down the tubes. My neignbors and I have tried a couple of other services, but so far no luck. Then I read TCA's reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Laurie, who did our initial visit, was so much fun, we didn't want her to leave, and everything she said was right on target with the things that were done. I have used TCA for bi-weekly cleans for a couple of months and am happy with them. They come in pairs, or even teams of three, so the clean is pretty fast. I have big dogs, and the cleaners have always been comfortable and good with my dogs, which is important to me. They seem to have a good cleaning system down. I like having the online portal to see my calendar of cleans. They give an arrival window the day before and have been good about hitting it. I've used the Cleaning Authority to clean my house, some rental property and another house when I have needed a thorough clean. They are very good about taking care of all items on the checklist. If I need them to do something specific, as long as I let them know up front then it gets done. I have always received a rapid response to phone calls and emails, and I have found that they show up in the window of time quoted. I am selling my home and wanted to get on a weekly service with them. TCA teams have cleaned my homes since 2003 and boy, am I happy to not have that burden! Those hours are mine to get exercise or do the projects that us homeowners have to do on weekends. Their teams try hard and this company has problems finding people who want to work, even with the addition of health insurance - - thankfully they have kept many of the same team members who do a great job and are trained to be careful and use high-quality cleaning products. (There is a review here claiming that a crew chipped her bathtub - - I've owned a lot of properties and trust me, a tub that "chips" means that tub was either very old, very "cheap" or had been refinished already......if a housekeeper can chip a tub by scrubbing, it's time to call the refinish guys, who are inexpensive. Drew, I have a great guy if you need one) This company is awesome and I recommend it to anyone who simply doesn't want to clean their own house! The initial, deep clean is expensive, but they take extensive notes at that time to help them do a better job on the regular cleans after that. Let's face it, you get what you pay for and to have TCA bring all of the supplies and their own vacuum cleaners is a nice luxury. I've had concerns a few times, but by calling the office right away, those have all been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. NOTHING stolen ever (that's what people ask me about) and the only things broken were small and damaged by accident. WORST WORST WORST Experience ever! Decided to try TCA based on good yelp reviews. The whole process from the beginning was raising red flags left and right, but we decided to go ahead with the initial clean service and boy were we sorry! The assessor Esmerelda who came out to give the estimate, paperwork, etc. almost immediately gave my wife and I attitude. We have special requirements because of severe allergies (in our sons case his peanut allergy could be life threatening) Specifically we asked that they use our cleaning supplies and vacuum so we can ensure no exposure to allergens from other households. We also requested we have a consistent cleaning crew as much as possible and that at least one of the two cleaners would be from the team we had already trained and acclimated with our house, special circumstances, and our children. I know this is not a big deal for some, but for us this is critical - these are people you are inviting into your inner sanctum, who have complete access to your prized possessions so we feel trust is very important for anyone who cleans your house. After the assessment on Tuesday, we did not hear back until Friday. Esmerelda called and said she had scheduled a crew for every other Friday. When we said fridays would not work, she got an attitude and said she would try her best but that she was had doubts that they would be able to accommodate our schedule. She called back and scheduled us for the following Tuesday. Then over the weekend we received an email from her stating the schedule with the following caveat: "Overall, I really hope we work out for you, on our end we will really try to satisfy your requests. However, as I mentioned I am not making any promises aside from effort being going to be made." I almost wanted to cancel the service right there and even though my gut told me to, we decided to keep the service scheduled since we were already invested a week in the process. Maids showed up and brought all their own supplies, did not listen when I told them to use our vacuum, basically none of the notes the estimator had taken were conveyed to the crew. Not to mention my toddler who is usually good with people and a great judge of character had a complete meltdown and unnatural aversion to them and would not stop crying and clinging to me. When my wife called them, the estimator Esmerelda was curt and rude and said she did not remember being told about our sons life threatening allergy. After she hung up with my wife, she called the crew and they left our house not even halfway cleaned, cleaning supplies, trash cans everywhere and a bag of trash at the foot of the stairs. WOW! I have never experienced anything like that, it was like they spitefully left our house in disarray because we were not satisfied with their service. RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and downright UNPROFESSIONAL! Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this service! read more

The people at The Cleaning Authority are great. Their work is consistent even though the crew rotates. On the very few occasions something has been amiss, I've received a quick response and fix. I generally am not at home when they are here but have been here with them. They are professional and friendly. I have used them for over 2 years now (probably more). I can't remember the last time I thought about whether my house was clean or not. I'm the type that notices the missed spots in the shower and scrub the grout with a toothbrush as soon as the cleaners leave. Probably the biggest compliment I have is that I bought an area rug for my office that has wood floors. As I moved furniture, there were no signs that the floor had not been cleaned. The corners of the room were free of debris. I was expecting to have to clean the floor/floorboards but didn't need to! Wow. I have 2 dogs and had a cat at the time too. You need to be flexible with the window of time they come. They've canceled on me one time. On a holiday (short) week, they arrived at 5pm so we were trying to make ourselves invisible so they could work. Although I understood they were squeezing 5 days into 4, I called to give feedback asking that they are out by 5pm or would like them to reschedule. It has never happened again. I have been using housekeepers since 2004. This is the only service (including independents) where I don't feel like I have to manage the housekeepers. It's just done. read more

After having a decent experience (not exceptional, not horrible) with this company we decided to cancel due to personal reasons. Not bad service, just life changes. This resulted in not one, but 3 phone calls from office managers and the owner as well as cookies delivered to the house trying to get us back. This just came off as over the top and too much. No matter what I said, there was this constant need to convince me that I was wrong and needed to stay with the company regardless of why I wanted to cancel. Then, to top that all off, when my key came in the mail, it also came with a letter from the owner that was an attempt to again prove why we needed to stay with the company. Every little thing was detailed in such a condescending way. "You claim that...., but our records indicate that at 4:42pm", etc, etc. Then he ends it with 'Until then, your key is enclosed'. Like, for now i guess you can have your key back??As a business owner I think you just need to get used to the idea that not everyone is going to be 100% pleased with your company no matter how hard you try and in addition, a person should not have to justify to you why they'd like to cancel. It's really overall not your business. The calls, letters, cookies, etc. just made it worse. I would not recommend this company to a single person and wish we had not used them as long as we did. read more

I have used The Cleaning Authority since 2007, first in Wisconsin. When I found them also in Austin, I knew that I had a cleaning company that I could count on. TCA is prompt and professional and they do a good job. There have been very few times when I have not been completely satisfied. Each time they clean the whole house but concentrate on one of 4 areas. The bring their own equipment and use environmentally friendly cleaning products. Also they treat their employees fairly. We have been using TCA since April of 2018 -- a little over a year. I feel the price is a good value for the service. TCA comes every other week for us, and Team #8 does a very good cleaning job for us. The ladies are professional, reliable, and trustworthy. We have never had anything damaged, broken, or misplaced (though my husband is always straightening the pictures on the walls after a clean! I'm glad they are getting dusted; he is a bit of a perfectionist!). There have been maybe two visits, out of around 30, when the team was running late and I've had to call the office just to make sure they were still coming. I have had to reschedule a couple of times and have had no trouble getting squeezed in within a few days. The team has always shown up the same day as scheduled, and within the two-hour window given. I have found the office staff to be helpful and courteous on the occasions we do speak on the phone. The reason I've give four stars instead of five is that NO ONE is PERFECT. Sometimes the stainless steel frig has a fingerprint left on it. And yes, sometimes there is dust on the frame of a bathroom mirror. On the couple of times I've called and asked the team to return and re-do an area, the office has responded with apologies and quick resolution. If anyone has found a cleaning service that can be described as I've described TCA, AND there has NEVER been any reason to call for a re-do, please let me know! We hired The Cleaning Authority for two months while our regular house keeper took some time off. Overall, it worked out great for us. Team #1 (Debbie & Barbara) were punctual, efficient, very friendly, and very thorough. The cleaning rotation system is pretty ingenious - it makes sure they give attention to areas typically forgotten about by homeowners or other cleaners, like the vent hood filter in the kitchen. They also bring all their own supplies, so I'm never running out for window cleaner at the last minute. Other than the initial cleaning fee (ouch!) the weekly cleaning rates are reasonable. I would rate 5 stars but it's a bit of a bureaucracy for someone who's used to having a lot of flexibility with an individual house cleaner. I understand it has to be that way for their system to work well, but it is a bit of a down side. If I could give 4.5 stars I would :) read more

We've been with them about a year and have recently cancelled our service. The employees are great and very friendly (aside from accidentally breaking one or two glass things), but the admin has been really difficult to deal with. Due to work we both sleep during the day sometimes and every time I've called to try to get an idea of when they are coming. Aside from being rude, they either don't call back or quote the wrong time and we always get caught off guard or woken up. Also, when I needed to switch around a cleaning because we were leaving the country for 2 weeks, I got charged double for that and it never got taken off my bill after multiple requests. The last thing was I've asked the admin about 3 months in a row to add baseboards to our service and it still has never gotten done. Frankly I'm sick of asking for things and it seeming like there is a huge disconnect between the admin and cleaners. We have our house listed right now and I'd rather hire someone else for the last few months than deal with all the mistakes. Blah. read more

I originally wrote a pretty detailed and slamming review for The Cleaning Authority. I have decided to revise my review because at the time I was very upset and frustrated. I just got off the phone with the owner Drew and felt a lot better after speaking to him. I was impressed with the time he took to apologize and his desire for feedback. He listened to me and let me express my thoughts with open ears. Though I still feel strongly about the need to speak "just enough" english to get by at the job I realize that for some this would not be a big issue. Did they come in and professionally clean my home...yes...were they polite...yes...did they use their time well...yes. All of these things are important while looking for someone to come into your home. Drew listened to my feedback and we talked through a few options on how to work on that issue. Though I have chosen not to continue using them I did realize that my original review was quite mean and over the top. Yelp is a great tool for people who seek guidance about local businesses, however, I encourage all those yelpers out there to take other's opinions into consideration but also to realize that they are just that....opinions. read more

I have to admit, right away, that I'm so picky about my house that I've always found it easier to clean it myself than to clean up BEFORE and AFTER any cleaners that I hired. But I was just in the weeds, over my head, and allergic to dust so my house was making me sick faster than I could clean it. These folks are seriously professional about making the nasty dust go away, and leaving everything really shiny & nice. I wish I knew what they do to the wood floors - I can't figure it out, but after they've been here I just want to walk on them barefoot, it's like they're cleaner than I could ever get them. They shine my copper sink so that it looks like a new penny. And coming home to a newly-made bed that someone ELSE put the sheets on is a little slice of heaven. I never would have thought I could be so thrilled with a cleaning service as I am with this one. Hire these people! You will not regret it. read more
