Turns out the place had been professionally cleaned before they even got to the property - they called us to let us know that there were things in our fridge, but not that the entire unit had already been professionally cleaned & was spotless. When we called about the lack of transparency we were told that the cleaners spent more than the allotted cleaning time on the property and could do nothing. You would think the least they could do is grant a partial refund - I get they have to pay employees and don't want to lose money, but I don't feel like they should profit off the employees clocking 3 hours for no service provided. read more

Disappointed with the outcome. We hired Boardwalk Cleaning because they advertised themselves as post-construction cleaners, but based on the job they did, that's clearly not the case. They were here all day, but it's hard to tell what they actually did that entire time. This was a brand-new build with brand new appliances that didn't need cleaning, no carpet, and we even asked them not to do the windows since another company was handling that. The house was empty, as our furniture wasn't arriving until the next day. Basic areas were neglected. The bathroom quartz countertops had sticky residue left on them, cabinets were still dirty, and there was paint splatter on the walls and floors, indicating these areas hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. The only things that were properly done were the hardwood stairs and the bathtubs. I called to complain, and they told me I needed to provide a list of what I'd want fixed. When I mentioned the floors and walls, I was shocked to hear that they only mop floors and don't do any scrubbing, and they don't touch walls at all. How can you call yourself a post-construction cleaner if you don't clean floors or walls? Especially when the entire house was empty, so there wasn't much else to do! I hired this cleaning service for weekly cleanings after an initial $1,500 "deluxe" deep clean, followed by $220 weekly "basic" cleanings. I overall used this service for just over 1 month. While I initially appreciated how hard the cleaners worked during the first visit, I quickly noticed areas being missed. From the very first cleaning, they skipped cleaning under the dining table and kitchen chairs, and I'd need to clean under the table myself. I brought it to their attention, but the issue persisted week after week because they send a different team every week, and I eventually started putting my chairs up on the table every week so it'd be properly cleaned. They tend to mop *around* things and miss corners, behind doors, and under tables/chairs. I also noticed incomplete dusting, including visible dust buildup on shelves and furniture (see photo). The team was friendly, and I could tell they worked hard, but the attention to detail just wasn't there. For over $1,000 a month, I expected a higher standard of cleaning and consistency. Ultimately, I felt the service wasn't worth the cost and decided to cancel. I'm pretty cynical when it comes to cleaning companies. I use them periodically, mostly for cleaning rental houses between tenants, occasionally for cleaning our house or the parents' house. Usually they do an adequate job, enough so I don't complain but not nearly as good as I'd do myself if I weren't lazy. My experience with Boardwalk was completely different. I got notification the two cleaners were on their way, and they arrived just a few minutes early. When they left, I went back expecting the usual so-so job and was blown away by the quality of the cleaning. I went around looking for dirt and did not find it. Like, it felt like a real deep cleaning... even the tons of tchotchkes all over the house looked dusted. Even Hope was impressed, usually when cleaners leave a house and we go look she starts complaining about things they missed right away, not this time. I did eventually find a couple of places - it looks like they wiped the top of the stainless steel range hood, but it doesn't look brand new like the stainless steel refrigerator did, and I think they just dusted the tops of door frames and picture frames rather than scrub them since my fingers came back with plaster dust (from the last renovation a few years ago). But still, it felt like a professional cleaning, not like the usual service provided by people who don't care about cleaning. There was one glitch - they double charged me... had two charges for the same amount on my credit card. I paid $248 plus tip for what was supposed to be a Deep Cleaning. Instead, the two cleaners performed a very poor quality standard clean. I was told that the Boardwalk Cleaning Co would arrive between 8am-5pm on the day of my scheduled service, and that I would receive a 1-hour warning call. I waited at home since 8am. At 2:45, I received a text that the cleaners would be arriving in 30 minutes. Shortly after 3pm, two cleaners arrived and knocked. I had reserved and paid for a deep clean of my entire small home. I asked for the floors, three rugs, and kitchen island to be especially clean. Less than two hours later, the cleaners left. There are cobwebs on the walls and in the corners of every room. Several pieces of furniture still have a visible layer of dust on them that was not touched. Other walls are newly smeared with black dirt, as if a dirty duster had been lightly grazed over the walls. An antique chair had a piece of chocolate left oddly on the arm, and when I picked it up, I saw it had been covering a wide gash in the wood that did not exist before the cleaning. One measuring glass and one punch glass were both dropped and broken. I myself picked up much of the broken glass. When the cleaners left, I found more shards of glass on the ground, one over two inches big. Later, I sat down on a chair near the entryway, where the cleaning supplies had been placed, and sat directly on a shard of glass. My clear coffee table is smudged and still has an old spill dripping down the side. There are old dust bunnies of my golden retriever's fur still tumbling around the floors from before the cleaning. I asked for the stovetop to be cleaned, which should already be part of a deep cleaning. One cleaner gently wiped down the screen but left the edges full of dirt and crumbs. I am shocked and so disappointed at this "cleaning" job. I am disabled and splurged on a Deep Clean from what I expected to be an awesome company. Instead, my place looks largely the same as it did before, with marginally less dust in some surface areas, and dark smudges left on the walls in others. And I am short two glasses. The Boardwalk Cleaning Co. is nothing more than a f*cking price gouging thief. Their company was in charge of cleaning my apartment that my partner & I moved out of. We are nearly spotless tenants who value the space we live in & kept the place in the best condition it's ever been in. When we moved into that place, it was absolutely filthy, & we were told that it was "professionally cleaned" prior to us moving in & that we'd have to pay the cleaning fee upon move out. We voiced our concern to our landlord letting them know that the place was filthy when we arrived. Long dog hair was in every single corner, the floors looked like they had NEVER been swept, let alone "professionally cleaned". The countertops had crumbs & old food on them & old food lodged in between. As I said, we voiced our concern & they didn't seem to care. We made sure to deep clean the place when it was time for us to go, & we did exactly that. swept, mopped, cleaned the shower, toilet, kitchen appliances, etc. We made sure to take videos & photos just incase we ran into a bad situation. Our landlord even went in to check the place once we left so that they'd know if we were being overcharged for a cleaning fee. Low & behold, 1 month later, we're served a cleaning bill of $375 because supposedly it took them 3.5 hours to clean the SPOTLESS 700 square foot apartment that didn't have so much as a spec of dust left behind. They failed miserably, they did not clean the doors to my office, mirrors, blinds or the laundry room at all. They vacuumed but not under the sofas or tables. My husband hired this company to clean our apartment, it was only 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms since we asked them not to clean our son's room. We have a small living room, our dining room is taken up by our son's playpen, and kitchen. First red flag was when they sent two people and they took three hours. They were just wasting time and running the clock unnecessarily which isn't as bad as what we found afterwards. Bathroom floors left dirtier than before, they didn't clean the bathtub, and the worst part is what they did to the dishwasher (pictures speak for themselves). If you're going to use their service on a regular basis, they won't agree to send the same crew each time. I asked, I pleaded, I left them in my rear view mirror. The last thing people want is to have strangers in their house each time. I want the same crew. I want to explain my preferences one time. I want to build trust. None of this can happen if they send a different crew every time you have a cleaning. There are plenty of other good choices out there. It took me about 20 minutes to find a replacement. Now I have a great service that sends the same crew each time. This builds trust. I like to tip to show my appreciation. I am not one to leave bad reviews and will typically only leave a review if I loved a service, but Boardwalk really disappointed me. To keep it short, the cleaners arrived outside of the scheduled window, they didn't take any trash with them, they stayed an hour longer than quoted and there were spots that were missed. The house is only 700sqft and was relatively clean before leaving. I wouldn't mind paying the extra $120/hr if they had left the house spotless, but they didn't. More time was still needed and costs us over $500. I would have almost preferred that the landlord used their own cleaning service and just had a smaller amount deducted from our deposit. Perhaps their regular services are great but I personally wouldn't use boardwalk again for future cleans, particularly move out cleans. read more

The two individuals who cleaned my house did a great job. I would absolutely hire them outside of the cleaning company. 5 stars for them. The company itself has some rough customer service. I paid $427 + tip for a 1600 square foot "top to bottom deep clean". The cleaners even cleaned some items that were not on the list which was much appreciated. However, the baseboards, an item on the website's task list, were loosely dusted but not cleaned of dirt and scuff marks. When I reached out to the company for their "missed a spot" policy. They happily added me to the next day's schedule while also informing me that "If you could keep in mind - that we cannot guarantee removal of [every] mark, scuff or caulking line. These are not always removable. We hand wipe baseboards with a microfiber [rag] and a hydrogen peroxide orange cleaner. If we cannot remove something, it would then need to be repainted to bring back to its original state. " I sent them a video of the baseboard grout that I quickly cleaned with an HEB brush and cold water to make sure my request was reasonable. I informed them I would not invoke the policy if I thought something wasn't able to be cleaned. To which they replied- "To be honest we do not use a brush to scrub out corners of baseboard caulking. We can do this for you today in case there was any miscommunication when you booked your cleaning. It would not be included in any other cleaning in the future." I should note that the website lists "We will hand wipe, clean and disinfect all baseboards" when they apparently mean *dust only*. After the gaslighting/guilt trip, I declined their offer to return and decided to leave a review instead. I felt kind of silly invoking the policy for one area, but for $427 +tip, I wanted the top-to-bottom clean that I paid for and they won. Also, they auto-draft your payment immediately vs. emailing an invoice for the customer to pay. TL;DR: The cleaners are only allowed to clean certain areas a certain way. If you try to take advantage of their "missed a spot guarantee", the company will at first try to gaslight you into thinking you're unreasonable, guilt trip you about their own policy, and then they will admit they don't actually clean, just "wipe". The cleaners did a great job with the actual clean. However, during the clean, the balcony door was damaged to a degree that I can no longer close the door. In my 1 year of living at my apartment and using the balcony everyday, this has never happened. The cleaners claim that they were simply trying to close the door, but building management informs me that the clear dents in the frame and severe damage to the hinge is from multiple times of force shutting the door without paying attention to the damage it was doing. Let me start by saying I rarely rate a company poorly. However, I so disappointed with the way I was treated after a horrible cleaning. We paid for a moving out cleaning( NOT cheap)! We did this because our house was vacant and we were preparing it for sale. I got a phone call from my contractor saying he was there while the maids were there and they were POURING water on the floor while mopping. This made part of the wood warp. Upsetting because we just spent a lot of money replacing warped planks. He also said there was still dust in filters. I called the office and spoke to one of the owners who was VERY rude and defensive. Most people would have demanded they replace the warped planks. I was simply asking for a refund or even a half refund. He was horribly rude and made it sound like they did nothing wrong. He refused to listen to anything I had to say and said he wouldn't pay. I even had pictures of what they did. This is most upsetting because we were loyal bi weekly customers!!!!!!! I told him I was very shocked with his response. He didn't care less. Bottom line, the way he treated me for them ruining planks was unacceptable. As a business owner myself, it would have been simple to apologize and refund. Nope, not only did he not refund he made me sound like I was ridiculous. I'm sure he will respond to this but whatever he says to justify it is either unacceptable or a lie. Booked a move-in clean, had to put in my CC number it is was automatically charged $250+. Then within 30 minutes of the cleaning team arriving, I received a call telling me they will not have enough time to finish the job and that they will need an additional 30 minutes to and hour - of course I'd have to pay for that extra time (which I declined). I asked for clarification on why they need extra time and they were not able to provide it. After another call back, I was told it was because of the condition of the home. The service they provided was mediocre at best. They did not sweep or vacuum before moping, so they effectively just pushed water around a dirty floor. I had to go back over their shoddy work. I call BS on this company, they lure you in and then try to milk you for more money. Do yourself a favor and go with a company who won't try to nickel and dime you. read more

Seems like they up charge for things hoping you're not home to see the reality...we were given a $50 refund when we notified the company, but if you consider they charged $25 for eco-clean products and $25 for 'pet services', I'm not sure that covers the fact that they ruined our bath mat and we now need to get paint color matched to touch up the bathroom wall, but it's a step in the right direction. The setup and communication with the office was excellent. I received a confirmation email/text informing me of the cleaners names the morning of and that they would be to my home within 30 min. I keep a pretty clean home but I can still tell when things are missed. This was my first visit. I knew not to expect 100% service but I expect close to it for the price. I rated them with 2 stars because of the following: 1) Office - not dusted or desk cleaned 2) Kitchen sink had remaining residue from cleaner with particles still in sink 3) Microwave not wiped down (inside)...not really dirty to begin with but it wasn't wiped out 4) Outside of Microwave stainless steel wipe down terrible 5) Master bedroom full sheet (not tucked completely) hanging out from under duvet. 6) Wall bench in bathroom (not wiped) down 7) Soap dishes in bathroom not cleaned 8) Laundry room (mop job not good) 9) Waste baskets emptied but new bag not put in (I left the new bags at the bottom of the wastebasket) in clear view 10) Didn't sweep or mop in the master closet 11) I stayed on my back patio while they cleaned and worked on my computer. It was 100 degrees. They didn't tell me when they were done. It would have been nice so I could stop frying outside. I informed the company about some of these issues and they stated they could have the cleaners come back. I preferred not for them to come back. They took $50 off of my bill. I do not recommend this business to anybody who is looking to have their house cleaned. If you are wanting to spend a bunch of money so your house looks just the same amount of dirty as it was when the cleaning crew will first arrive, then this business is for you. If you explain to the business that their team did not clean, the sales people will not believe you. My floors were really filthy. Admittedly it's mostly the previous tenant's fault, but that's why I paid a cleaning company. It took me mopping about 8-10 times to feel like I wasn't walking on dust when I was barefoot anymore. I saw the cleaners mop, but I guess they just moved the dust around instead of removing it. I'm really dissatisfied with that. Also, one of my toilets has mold/mildew come back after few flushes. Basically, they didn't do a good job scrubbing the upper interior of the toilet to disinfect it. I paid for what I thought would be a spotless, great clean, but it just seems to be a better than average clean. So, they get 3/5 stars. I hired Boardwalk cleaning for a move-out cleaning of my house. I booked online through their estimate/scheduling portal and was quoted $350 for the job with no duration of time specified anywhere that I saw. I then received an email from their team indicating that we were all set for the job and that I had paid for a 3.5 hour cleaning and that if they needed more time, they would call and approve any additional time needed. Long story short, I didn't care how long they took, I felt like $350 was more than I'd pay for a detailed cleaning and I felt that was a fair amount for a move out cleaning. 20 minutes into arriving at the house, we got a call saying that they required an additional 2.5 hours and that it would cost an additional $250 on top of what they had quoted us originally. I was appalled. I was not expecting this to be a $600 job and nor had other companies quoted me anything close to that high. I voiced my thoughts to the manager and he heard me out, but unfortunately if I wanted the job done, I needed to agree to the additional time & charge. I really had no other choice because I needed the job done, but I was not happy about the situation. Now, you're likely wondering why this is a 4-star review. I will say that Boardwalk SERIOUSLY needs to re-evaluate their estimation algorithm as I've NEVER worked with another cleaning company that has been so off base in my life. Having said that, they get 4-stars from me because of what unfolded after the fact. When I complained, Juan, the manager heard out my frustrations and while his crew still needed the additional time, he couldn't really commit to less time but assured me that his crew would do everything possible to complete in the shortest possible time. I didn't believe him, but I felt like my hands were tied so I agreed. To my surprise, I got a call 4.5 hours into the job saying that they were done. I couldn't believe it - they needed 6, but only took 4.5. SO, I went over to my old house to do a quality check. I kid you not I took my finger and checked for dust on top of my fridge, inside my oven, opened every cupboard and did a detailed analysis and could not find a single thing I could complain about... the work was flawless. I was so surprised that they took the time to honor my request to complete in a shorter time frame given that they could have taken the full amount of time (or close to) since I had already agreed to it. I was very impressed & satisfied with their customer service and their quality of work. The only reason why this is a 4-star in lieu of a 5-star review is I think that they have an opportunity for improvement with their estimates. This team rocks! We initially got a quote from them using Yelp, and we now have a regular cleaning schedule (every three weeks) which comes with a low flat rate. Each cleaning crew might vary slightly on what they'll do, but we've always had a spotless, tidy home when they're done. They usually won't do the dishes, but they always take out the trash and make the bed with fresh linens (if you leave them on the bed). They also always vacuum the couch, which is a huge plus for us. I generally do my own cleaning, but whenever something special comes up, I call in Boardwalk to take it to a level I don't have the patience to do myself! Especially helpful, say, if my parents call on Tuesday to say they're going to come visit for the weekend, just as my work schedule is at its nuttiest... I email Juan and usually within a few minutes (an hour at most) we have arranged for a team to come in a couple days to do a deep clean of our whole house, baseboards, ceiling fans, stove burners...polishing away fingerprints and cleaning along the kickboards in the kitchen. In the days between, I can concentrate on putting things away instead of worrying about futzing with cobwebs and dust behind the toilet bowl. We have always been very happy with their employees, very friendly, good at communicating, and ALWAYS prompt - if anything, they've arrived a little early, which is a good thing! And Boardwalk must choose their teams for visual skill - Each time they find a way to arrange pillows/bedcovers/bathroom accessories in a way chicer than I could come up with! Worth every penny!!!
