Came to visit my step brother who is a resident of Manna Acute Care Facility. I am from out of town…read moreso my review is of my experience for two days of visits. The building is a bit older but is kept up fairly well. The smells of a care home are present but not as strong as some other care facilities that I have been to due to the staff always cleaning. The staff are wonderful and friendly and seem to take great care of their residents. Two people particularly stood out from my visit, Candice who was very friendly and was the one of the primary nurses assigned to my step brother's area. He required a lot of attention and Candice was always very polite and patient and assisted my stepbrother as best as she could. We also met Cam who was also very friendly and seems to genuinely care for the residents. He always had a smile on his face and would give a smile to residents as he passed by them. He told me he loved his job and that he genuinely cared for the residents. It showed watching him work for 2 days during my visits. I rarely post reviews but because I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome this place was, I thought I would write a review to let people know of my awesome experience at Manna Acute Care in Pickens, SC.

This place doesn't even deserve ONE star. It's the biggest shit hole. My grandmother just left…read moreTODAY. Was told she could walk. NOPE. She's been there for almost two months... what have yall been doing??? Just chomping it up and playing monopoly????? We Came home I mean was she even in rehab and doing therapy?????? Or did you just lay her there in the bed all day????? Not only did you send her home like this. She was severely dehydrated and she told us she asked for water all day yesterday and you failed to bring it to her..She said the care there was awful and everytime we went and spoke to anyone about it we were told it got handled or they don't know what we were talking about-- so she is back in the hospital today.....now let's talk about the facility it smells like the back end of a horse...people in wheel chairs rolling around with their pee bags so full it's spilling on the floor. It's AWFUL. When I say I wouldn't let my dog stay here- I wouldn't. I seriously wouldn't even store barn animals here. I mean just walk in the front doors of this place it's like an adult playground. You have to literally go around a maze of elderly people in wheelchairs chairs to get through the front desk and door and don't forget hold your nose or you'll pass out from the strong smell of piss as you pass through the hallway to make your way to the back to see your family who is in rehab who is clearly not even in rehab they just sit back there in bed...Take your review for yourself once you walk in I mean I literally don't even have to say anything. Oh and by the way they sent us home with someone else's paper work. So that's a HIPAA VIOLATION. They called us wanting us to bring it back up there and so that means we went home with ZERO paperwork for our patient. THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! I cannot believe we had her there. I honestly will never forgive myself for having her here and I don't know how any of those people that work there even sleep at night. Don't even bother leaving a phone number or commenting back below your sorry or thanking me for my review because you weren't worried about when we were there. This review right here is for all the people who google this place who may want to look into for there loved one it's not for a call back or to hear from you trust me I already know that goes no where with yall.

Everyone from the Administrator Holly Harbin, Physicians, Nurse Practitione, RN's, Nurse Manager, CNA's, OT, PT, Speech, Transportation and especially Desiree the Social Worker for making his stay a positive one and providing the best quality of care. This is the best care facility in the CSRA and I would give them a 7 star recommendation if you are looking for a care facility for your loved ones one. Barbara Autry

Overall, they are adept at understanding family concerns and the difficulty of transitioning loved ones. The location is convenient and has lovely curb appeal that flows into the facility as well. There are courtyards and patios, even a screened in porch is available for residents and families. It has been refreshing to experience a facility that is attractive with attractive caregivers inside as well. I've lived in this area for decades, and this facility has always been named NHC. The fact that it has never changed hands has meant a consistently good reputation throughout the community. While no facility is perfect, they do seem to strive for perfection. Highly recommend them!

This is a DANGEROUS place to leave your loved one, please do not be fooled by the nice facilities!!…read moreEspecially if your loved one is unable to care for themselves. My step-father died shortly after coming home, he was placed in this facility for "rehab" but he died instead. He was here during the COVID lock down so they would not let family in to visit and I was told he did not want to talk on the phone. This is a very serious warning to those out there considering this facility. Please do not place your loved one here! Terry M

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS FACILITY!!!! PLEASE DO NOT leave your elderly loved one in this…read morefacility if they have had a big surgery like my 80 year old Mother had, and they require round the clock care. I put my Mother here, because this is what I thought she would get. Not mistreated and neglected! Some of the staff and CNA staff is uncaring if at best and very unprofessional. There is no DR on staff that I am aware of, just RN's and LAZY CNA's. Most of them do not belong in this field of work, they are lazy, lack empathy and just here to collect a paycheck. None of the CNA's had on name tags, but you can bet I do remember faces. My Mother had a lower spine, 3 level laminectomy on 2/8/19 and was transferred to HP on 2/12/19 for PT. Starting on the very first day I had received repeated complaints from my Mother that some of the CNA staff were being mean to her, (she did have hearing issues and I made them aware of this) And she had a hard time getting them to take her to the bath room when she requested it. She was even found on the floor, because she needed to go to the bathroom and no one came to help her. (she could not walk, and all I heard from a few of the CNA's was is she is dead weight, we can't pick her up My mother was all of 5'0 and 135 lbs.) HELLO- I don't care if it takes 4 of you to lift her up, put on her back brace, in a her wheel chair or walker and get her to the bathroom, DO YOUR JOB! Her shower was always bone dry, they did not bathe her, but my Mom probably didn't want those GITM to bathe her anyway. They didn't help her with her expand a lung breathing machine, which is to help prevent pneumonia. Long story short, after 5 days of her not having anything done, but mistreatment, and especially having no LABS and BLOOD work, other than some brief PT/OT, she called me and begged me to come get her on 2/17/19. I raced as fast as I could from FL, where I was helping my brother with my father who was dying of cancer and went straight to HP to get my Mother. As I was making my second trip on the getting on the elevator to get my Mom's belongings, I heard one of the CNA's who was standing at the first floor nursing station, she was talking with another woman (that lady was kind and did come to the elevator and ask me if I needed any help), as she knew my Mom was being discharged yell out "Hallelujah, thank God." Lady, I don't know your name, but I do remember your face! Little did I know that 3 days later my precious Mama would pass away due to renal failure, from a UTI that was not caught and treated in time. So if you value your loved one and the type of care they receive for after surgery, this is definitely not the place.

They displayed compassion, care, empathy, and went above and beyond to not only support my elderly father but my family so that we were prepared for his discharge home. At first his case manager was extremely helpful until I started asking questions and being my father's advocate for his health and wellbeing. Once I started asking questions and reaching out to his insurance company for further support, the case manager changed her tone and began to drop the ball in many ways. She went from being his advocate to becoming silent with his care and not responding to me when I reached out. I had to follow up on all discharge care that she stated several times she would support us in so that he received everything he needed and that failed many times. I had to ask several questions and insist on in-home support. I offered several opportunities to work together yet that did not happen, and our calls became texts, which I was ok with, but then became silence on her part. The team of therapist were beyond wonderful, and they deserve all the credit in patient success. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the case manager and would not recommend their case management team to any family especially families that are advocating for their loved ones.
