As an owner of a moving company, I have been searching long and hard for a reliable and affordable company to help prepare grandfather and wall clocks for transit. Before we thought we could do it ourselves, but its too easy for the clock to get out of sync. At first we just brought a Seth Thomas Wall Clock to repair a broken pendulum. Russ was able to repair it in just a matter of days and very affordably! Now I have both a wonderful repair service (just had him tune up my mothers grand father clock) and now I have a service I can offer to my clients! Russ is a nice guy and personable, but I would not recommend him since his service guarantee is not worth it. His pricing was $100 more than the local shop in Paoli but he said he would guarantee the clock would continue to work for one year. After the initial visit, the clock would function for a week or less than stop. He came out to resolve this but by the next day the chimes started to chime at 10 minutes before the hour. He returned and got the chime to work for about 1 day and than it stopped. He set up another appointment which was a full month out. He never showed up. Tried to reach him via text and phone and won't respond which I do not find professional. read more

He came out pretty quickly, oiled it, and thought all was good. still didn't chime correctly, came back out and took it for weeks, brought it back and still not working right. I called to have my grandfather clock put back together after my move and he taught me things I never knew about how to service my clock. I used this guy twice. That was twice too many. He never had our clock ready when he promised. In fact it was months late. Initially it was to clean the clock and get it running. And also to addressIt running slow. He did get the clock running but he never addressed adequately the slowness of the clock. When I took it back for him to do that as well as address a problem with the chimes, he had it well into two months past the two weeks he promised and never fix the problem. read more

I have a 25 year old grand father clock which The Clock Guy serviced about a year or so ago. I wanted to see how the clock performed after his service before I wrote a review. My grandfather clock kept stopping so I called him for service. He was courteous, but not so professional. First thing I noticed which is a big no, no, is that he didn't use gloves or a rag in handling the "spotless" brass weights, clock face and clock mechanism. So right off there's finger prints, which creates permanent spots and deterioration. I thought he was very rough with the clock and cringed when he was dismantling it. He told me it would be about 2 weeks. 3 1/2 months later he came back with it. He told me he lubricated, changed the weight cables and adjusted it. He also told me he couldn't get the Moon function to work after he charged me $350.00! The cables he replaced lasted 25 years, with no problems. The other day when winding one of the weights it snapped and fell creating major damage to the pendulum, scratched the weight and smashed the glass base with fluorescent tubes below. So my question is, how could the original cables last 25 years and his cables snapped at just over a year? Stay away from this one! read more

I was having a grandfather's clock that belonged to my parents shipped from Florida to Chadds Ford. Because of an unscrupulous repair service in Florida it wasn't working. I had no previous experience with Russ Buckley but when I called him he graciously offered free advice on how the clock should be prepared for shipping. When the clock arrived I called him back and he arrived at my house that day to take the movement back to his shop for cleaning and servicing. He called within the week, had the clock finished, and back in the case. He returned promptly to make some adjustments required. The clock is working nicely. I wrote the review on 11/2 about my experience with Russ as of that date. I'm updating now that he has completed the job. He brought the movement back today and now my beautiful grandfather clock is running beautifully. This clock hasn't run in years, I honestly considered just getting rid of it as I thought it would be ridiculously expensive to get it going again. Thank Goodness I found Russ. The movement, pendulum and weights are now beautiful, he even cleaned up the case while here. He fixed the clock, cleaned it, and I am so glad I didn't give up on it. His cost was so inexpensive. His professionalism and expertise is incredible. And the thing I love is that he is so honest. Not knowing anything about clocks, and having one that hadn't run in years - he could have charged me anything and I wouldn't have known any better. But he's so honest that he showed me that the movement was in really good shape, just dirty. He explained everything. He explained features of my clock, I never knew about and spent time to do it. He explained how to take care of my clock when he was done as well. So, now i have a beautiful heirloom to enjoy for the rest of my life and then pass on to my children - thanks to Russ.
