Best on SSI. SSI is in need of a competitor for The Club! The free weight room is small and cramped. No more than 3 can use a bench at a time. Several of the benches need to have the cushions repaired, that have been torn for a long time. The cleanliness is ok but for the high price, it should be spotless. Many of the patrons could stand a class on gym etiquette. The staff, although nice, could stand some time in the gym. The monthly price is high and for the price it's disappointing but unless you go and joint one of the Country Clubs it's the only place on island. read more

This is a great club. Been dropping in on this place every time I come down to SSI. Prices have doubled in the last few years for a one day and weekly pass. Pros - Full service gym, clean, great staff, nice equipment, spa, steam room Cons - price and they don't provide towels anymore... Worth dropping in for a solid work out. Great place, very spacious gym. They offer everything you could ask for, cardio equipment, free weights, machine weights, basketball court, heated lap pool, and indoor track. One of the best amenities are the group fitness classes with enthusiastic coaches to get you going. read more

We stopped by to check out the place, turned out that for family of 4 its about $450 a month and they don't even offer a guest pass to check out equipment and classes. I have never been to a gym that doesn't let potential clients to come by and try it out. read more

Best sized gym on the island. Unfortunately staff has given up as developers are after this place and the land to build condos or a business development. They don't even stock towels anymore. They blame it on their outsourced towel washing company. I hope it stays in business because it's really the only big gym option on the island that I know of. read more

Nice gym with all the amenities you could want - classes, free weights, machines, cardio, pool, basketball, racquetball, etc. I didn't confirm it but it looks like childcare is also provided on site. Mostly retirees when I visited but that's probably due to it being a weekday during working hours. read more

This place is ridiculous. Sauna and/or steam room always out of order! Whole place smells awful. They don't keep towels in the locker rooms.

***This review is for the massage, only*** We all know that massage therapists rely on word of mouth to reap the benefits of their training, so I'm doing my share to spread the word about Michael. Through the help of the Program Director at the local Y, I signed up for an hour long massage (65.00; what a steal compared to the D.C. area). We showed up at the health club and only had a few minutes to take in our surroundings before we were whisked off to our rooms (my partner also scheduled a massage). My massage room was clean, soothing, and spacious enough. I relayed some back tension I'd been experiencing as of late, and after taking a cursory health inventory, Michael proceeded to work those magical hands. I'm not one of those people who can just lay quiet while I'm being "worked over." I'm just too shy to let a total stranger do their thing without learning about them and their background through general conversation. I learned Michael is a native of Massachusetts who moved to St. Simons Island in an attempt to be closer to his daughter. During the massage, I learned how to self-manage some of my problem areas (I carry all of my tension in my neck and shoulder muscles), as well as score a recommendation on a great message oil (arnica) that serves as an analgesic. Because of my lower back issue that week, he spent alot of of time working that entire area. As a result, I left outta there feeling like a new woman! My partner was paired up with the woman there at the club, and he though she did a great job. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but I want to say it was Diane. If you're in the area and you need a massage from a reliable person who will get the job done, schedule an appointment with Michael. Two months later, and I'm enjoying the gym even more! I've started going after work in addition to before work, and I now take spin class 2-3 times a week, yoga 2-3 times a week, Pilates once a week, and Group Power once a week. Loving it! This was following my complimentary fitness assessment with a personal trainer that clued me in to the fact that while my cardio fitness was excellent, my strength and flexibility were pretty poor, and I'm also carrying too much fat though I've got a healthy BMI. So I was on a mission to try a lot of different things in order to get as fit as possible. The instructors are all great and make me feel so welcome. I tried step class, and although it wasn't really for me (I am clumsy) the instructor Shelly and the students of the class encouraged me the whole time and I made it through the workout feeling really proud of myself that I tried it, didn't give up, and made it through. I took right to spin class; I love that it is in the dark with awesome music and great routines that make the time just fly by. I had been wanting to try the Group Power class that was immediately after the Monday spin class, but was too intimidated at first. The class is packed with buff looking men and women who flood the room as soon as it opens, and expertly load their bars with huge plates. I didn't know where to begin. But the Monday spin instructor, Angie, also teaches the Group Power and she encouraged me to come over and try it. Couple that with running into an old friend who was taking the class and showed me how to set up, and I was in. It is SO challenging but so worth it! I've worked up from just 2 1kg plates to 2 2.5kg plates in three weeks. Also, just to show how attentive this gym is, they read my previous review online and called me today to tell me they took into consideration my wish for 7am classes, and they have decided to add a 7am Zumba class on Wednesdays starting next month! I am so stoked and will definitely be taking it. Now that is awesome personal attention. Join this gym; you will not be disappointed! read more

Nice work out area, as well as a basketball court and running track. Very big establishment. The room with all of the electric workout equipment is very spacious and has TVs. They also have classes, including pickle ball in the summer. read more

Not much of a gym. I think it was originally a different business that was changed to a gym. Everything is disjointed and non functional. They have a small heated pool for the winter which is nice and a full court basketball court, but if weights/cardio is what you are looking for then this is not your spot. They have group classes, but many require extra pay beyond their already heavy price tag. I would avoid as there are multiple other options like Crossfit Gyms and Anytime. read more
