My 8 year old daughter has had an interest in sewing since taking a summer camp at Camp Fashionista. We were searching something closer to home and found Linda! My daughter has taken classes with her for a few months and has already made numerous items like a sewing tool bag, a skirt, an owl, an elephant and a tote bag. The items she made were very well designed and pretty impressive! She looks forward to this class, it's her favorite time of the week. One thing my daughter loves most is that she can choose what she wants to work on and she can go at her own pace with Linda's guidance. Linda is a total gem, she is so sweet and has created a warm and fun environment to learn. She has really instilled a love of sewing in my daughter and she has built so much confidence in herself making beautiful and complicated items but having fun at the same time. Linda has so much positive energy and is so easy to work with. Project Funway is such a great place to learn or perfect your sewing skills! I have been going there with my teenager and we both enjoy our time with Linda and our little sewing group. I don't know how Linda does it, but she is ready for all levels of sewing, all ages. You do not have to have any material, there is a whole lot to choose from right there, or you can also bring your fabric if you want to. I highly recommend Project Funway if you want to learn, be creative, have a good time, and show off your final product as if it was bought at a store. read more

I've been taking my daughter to Project Funway summer camps for as long as it was open. We may have missed one summer. But I digress. Linda and company are amazing instructors and really instill passion for color, construction and design into young hearts (and those young at heart). My daughter loved Project Runway, and was convinced she wanted to be a fashion designer, and this class has reinforced her love of the fiber arts. I started taking Linda's class with my 7yo daughter in order to be able to support her in learning to use a sewing machine, but under Linda's guidance, completely fell in love with sewing myself! Never having touched a sewing machine before, I have now successfully completed two shirts (one with buttons!), pajama pants, a tote bag and am working on a zip-up jumpsuit. I can't express how invaluable it is as a beginner to have an expert in the room who can troubleshoot the machine, help you read inscrutable patten instructions, fix mistakes, and 99% of the time stop you before you do something that will take you an extra hour to undo. I have started doing some sewing at home to get more practice but I always save the new/hard stuff for my in-class time. read more

We were out of options in teaching my teen daughter how to sew - she MUST learn in order to study Apparel Design in college. A friend recommended Project Funway. It was wonderful;, close to our home, reasonably priced and tailored to her level and interests. Linda Raasch is engaging and enthusiastic, and comes to the craft with lots of training and experience. My daughter made a dress with lots of Linda's help, and it was so cute that she wore it to her cousin's recent wedding. She had loads of compliments. Classes are offered throughout the year at her lovely home and Linda is flexible and knowledgeable about supplies and machines. There are courses for every level of sewing. Project Funway is a wonderful gem tucked away in Los Gatos in the most beautiful sewing studio that anyone could ask for! The physical space that Linda has created will inspire anyone's creativity. Spacious, warm, and super-organized. Linda herself is such a wonderful teacher! Whether it's intentional or not, she employs a very "positive discipline" approach with students. We held a private class for my daughter's birthday. Without previously having met a single girl in the group, Linda somehow managed to make them each feel empowered, respected, and successful. Regardless of their prior sewing experience, they all left with a super cute, sturdy, personalized tote bag made with their own two hands, and it was clear that they all felt exhilarated by their success. Linda's philosophy of employing sewing as a medium for inspiring self-confidence and empowerment is a winner! Project Funway is the camp the keeps on giving! Just turning age 9, my daughter was one of the youngest at camp and a total novice (at sewing) to boot. This could have been totally intimidating, but our daughter's camp experience was incredible! Linda and her staff of helpers went out of their way to make all the girls feel secure and accomplished. Linda and staff were amazing - friendly, supportive, and patient. Our daughter was so inspired by the creativity and process of creating actual things to wear and use... yet equally inspired by the mentors and atmosphere of the week. She came away with a really solid foundation of sewing skills, but more importantly, she gained confidence, had fun, and met some lovely people along the way. This was the first non "sporty" camp our daughter participated in, and we were incredibly impressed with Linda's accessibility, communication, and overall dedication to the girls. Participating in P.F. has been at the top of my daughter's list for past couple of years. So much more than learning to sew, Linda and her family make wonderful connections with their students and have provided my daughter with a great sense of DIY independence and confidence that you can see from the runway when she's modeling the outfit she made ;-) The fashion component of P.F. is nicely balanced by the industrious nature of sewing what you wear -- you'll be pleasantly surprised by what can be produced in a few days! My 13 year old daughter has been to Project Funway for the past two years. It is one of her favorite camps. She enjoys her interactions with Linda and her assistants. It is a very positive and nurturing environment and they learn to make wonderful and useful things. She took her bag to the beach and for shopping all summer. My daughter has done this camp for a couple of years and just loves it! Linda and her assistants have created classes that teach all of the fine details about sewing in such a fun and supportive way. Even when the kids feel like they've made a mistake...Linda helps them see it all as an opportunity to learn. Project Funway is an amazing program. I had heard wonderful things about it for years and was finally able to get my youngest daughter signed up this summer. She took it with her best friend and they absolutely loved it. The instructors are phenomenal. You can see their passion in every detail of the camp, from the projects through to the fashion show at the end of the week. The projects they made were adorable and my daughter was so inspired she has kept sewing all summer. Wanting to expose her to more, I searched on-line for a new camp to challenge her. I came across Project Funway and worked with (owner) Linda to get her in a class (many are sold out ~ always a good sign!). My daughter just finished her week and I can't say enough about the program. As Linda said during the fashion show (an amazing treat for both the students and parents!) . . .the class is not just about sewing, but giving the girls a sense of pride throughout the week and beyond. I can't say enough about the camp, only that I will absolutely have my daughter attend ever year forward (please never stop, Linda and Crew!).
