Cute local goods and barbecue restaurant. Service is exceptional with people who seem like they really enjoy their job and serving the public. Food is top notch with everything made from scratch all the way down to the sauces.

Great people & great food! The chicken fingers are usually my go to, but when they have their ribs or bbq nachos, you have to try!

Everything I've tried has been delicious. It's been ready when they say it will be. People working are also friendly.

The Brown Bag Restaurant in Northport has been a staple for good eats for as long as I can…read moreremember. I can't tell you how many times people have recommended it for lunch, yet I never managed to stop in and experience it for myself until today. My work schedule and the Bag's hours always seemed to clash, and since it's a bit off the beaten path, it stayed in the "out of sight, out of mind" category. Now, as I'm approaching full retirement, I finally had the time to swing by and see what all the fuss was about. Upon arrival, the first sign you're in the right place is the parking lot. It's packed, about like a blue tick on a hound dog. Stepping inside, don't expect anything fancy. The interior is old school with faded paint and a no frills setup. Your food is served in Styrofoam containers with plastic utensils. But that's part of the charm. Who needs fine china when you're filling your gizzard with good soul food? The place was full and I managed to grab one of the last open tables under the roof. I then waited for the waitress who was running laps across the dining area, taking orders, refilling drinks, checking out customers, and handling everything in between. If you come anywhere near lunch hour, don't expect Jimmy John's Freaky Fast service. You're here to slow down and enjoy the experience. When I ordered, I went with a catfish fillet, turnip greens, field peas, fried green tomatoes, a side of cornbread, and tartar sauce for the fish. The fried green tomatoes did not make it out with the order, but the waitress was very apologetic and adjusted my bill to a meat and two instead of a meat and three, which I appreciated. Now to the important part, the food. The catfish was hot, crispy, and perfectly cooked, not greasy at all, just honest, well done Southern cooking. The turnip greens and field peas were flavorful and comforting, exactly what you hope for in a place like this. The tartar sauce had a slightly sweet twist that I was not expecting, different from the traditional version, but surprisingly excellent. I will need a few more visits before I can fully put that into words, but it worked. Overall, now I understand the buzz. The Brown Bag delivers exactly what it promises, simple, hearty, well prepared soul food served without pretense. I will definitely be back, and now that retirement is on the horizon, I have got all the time in the world to wait on a good meal, unlike you working folks still rushing through lunch.

If there's anything "lost" about The Lost Pizza Co. - Northport, I haven't found it yet…read more My wife and I make it a point to visit about once a quarter, and it never disappoints. Consistency matters, and this place delivers it every single time. Now, me being me, I don't branch out much. When I find something I like, I stick with it like duct tape on a screen door. Enter: the Happy Hippy with cauliflower crust. Now hold on -- before you start picturing edible cardboard, let me clarify. This cauliflower crust tastes nothing like cardboard. It's actually delicious. And yes, I'm aware that just about anything covered in cheese has a head start in life, but still -- credit where it's due. The crust holds up, the flavors balance well, and I can enjoy every bite without worrying about a late-night visit from our old acquaintances, Acid Reflux and his cousin Heartburn. My innards are at peace, and that's worth mentioning. The name Happy Hippy always makes me smile. I'm about as far from a hippy as you can get, but it's a fine conversation starter when ordering. And when the pizza arrives, I'm happy enough to live up to the name. The atmosphere is part of the charm. The walls are decorated with license plates from everywhere -- California to the Northeast -- mixed in with good old Alabama tags. One California plate in particular caught my eye: a personalized "90210." That zip code is permanently etched into my memory. Back in the day, every high school girl seemed to be glued to the television after an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210. I never watched a single episode myself, but somehow that number is burned into my skull for life. Funny how that works. Add in a few musical instruments hanging around and you've got yourself a laid-back, slightly nostalgic vibe. Then the speakers kick in with 80s and 90s classics, and you know you're in the right place. When "Down on the Corner" or "Old Time Rock & Roll" comes through loud and proud, it just feels right. Good pizza tastes better with good music -- that's just science. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is always clean -- which, let's be honest, should be standard everywhere but unfortunately isn't. If you've got small kiddos, there's a game room to keep them occupied while you sit back with a cold Coca-Cola and enjoy your pie in relative peace. All in all, it's good pizza, good music, and good people -- with just enough Southern charm to keep you coming back. We'll see them again next quarter. Some habits are worth keeping.

Cheese Nachos: I love nachos... but the chips had no salty taste and the "nacho" cheese was just plain cheese sauce... which missed the classic Nachos flavor. My Oldest had Lemon Pepper dry wings dinner with double fries. He said the wing were over seasoned but I thought they were great. Small wings ( which I prefer) cooked perfectly crispy. The fries were your average crinkle fries... not seasoned at all. No salt. :( My youngest had chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders where cooked perfectly. Fresh and hot. They were seasoned but could use a bit more seasoning. Over all they were good, big, and not overly breaded! The cheese fries... no salt, flavorless cheese sauce... almost like the "nacho" cheese but seemed thinned out. My Hubby had the Hot dog dinner with baked beans and fried okra. The hot dog was big and juice ( deep fried dog). The beans were ok. The okra he said was the shining star. He said he would pull over just to get a order of okra from them. I had a BBQ sandwich. For the price I wanted it to be on a large bun. It was just your average bun. It wasn't great. Needed a better sauce.. or more sauce maybe. I was pretty put off that the meat was cold. Not room temp... but cold. This could have been avoided by something as small as a temp check. I'm in food service. I don't expect it to be cooked right then, bbq is usually been warmed up... but this stuff was just cold. Our total was under 50.00, which isn't terrible. All in all, it was ok. If you want wings or a dog, go for it. Their issues can be easily fixed with some salt, seasoning and a temp check! I'd give them another go.
