"When I first contacted Priscilla, I had only five days to respond to my EEOC case and felt…read morecompletely overwhelmed. She immediately helped me organize my documents, create a clear timeline, and prepare my response before the deadline. She also uploaded all of my supporting evidence through the EEOC Public Portal, which gave me peace of mind that everything had been submitted correctly and on time. Throughout the process, Priscilla answered my questions, explained each step, and made me feel supported. She also referred me to an attorney experienced in EEOC matters for a consultation regarding possible legal representation. Without her guidance, I would not have known where to start. If you're overwhelmed by an EEOC case or don't know what to do next, I highly recommend Apoyo Support Center. Priscilla is knowledgeable, compassionate, organized, and truly cares about helping people." -- Vanessa S., Chicago, Illinois

Pricilla is a life saver!! I cannot express this sentiment enough. Since the moment I first…read moreengaged her services, she has been a calming force in what can only be described as a very stressful situation. She proved immediately and throughout the process that she cares deeply for the clients she services. Her responsiveness and attention to detail illustrates her commitment to both her work and those she advocates for. Without her expert guidance I don't think I could have navigated this complex situation where rules and protocols are very nuanced and there are potential pitfalls at every turn. It is for these reasons that I not only recommend Pricilla and the Apoyo Support Center, but also hold her and her organization in the highest regard. May God continue to bless her and those who are fortunate enough to work with her!!

I've been going to Serenity Mental Health Centers (Biltmore location) since around 2020 and have…read moreseen a few different providers over the years. For the past couple of years, I've been seeing Dr. Brooks, and I really like him. He's super friendly, knowledgeable, and it genuinely feels like he keeps up with current research. I also appreciate that he's suggested supplements alongside medications to help support my mental health, which has been really helpful. That said... the wait times here are honestly pretty frustrating. Every single time I come in for an appointment, I end up waiting way longer than expected. At best, it's usually at least 30 minutes past my scheduled time, and I've had one visit where I waited about an hour and a half. It really feels like they're overbooking appointments, and it makes the whole experience stressful--especially when you plan your day around a set appointment time. I do really like Dr. Brooks, which is why I've stayed, but the consistent delays are enough that I've seriously considered switching to a provider outside of Serenity--it just feels like a hassle to start over somewhere new. If they could get the scheduling under control, this would be a much better experience overall.

I was excited to finally take the step to seek mental health support, only to arrive at my…read moreappointment and be told I would need to pay $260 for the initial visit and approximately $190 for each one-hour follow-up session--despite this provider accepting my insurance. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of transparency. During my 45-minute phone call to schedule the appointment, no one mentioned these costs or gave me any expectation of what I would be responsible for paying. Had I known, I never would have scheduled the appointment. I understand that therapy costs money and providers deserve to be compensated. My issue is the lack of upfront communication and the extremely high out-of-pocket costs. Mental health care is already difficult enough to access, and unexpected charges like these create yet another barrier for people who are trying to get help. Because of this experience, I canceled my appointment. I hope this practice becomes more transparent about costs before scheduling patients so others don't find themselves in the same situation.

Finally, after years of suffering, my New Year's resolution is to finally seek help for my OCD…read more I filled out their extremely thorough questionnaire, including mental health, history, and all that. Cool cool. The front desk gal calls me back and leads with "we aren't going to prescribe you benzos." Literally didn't ask about anything else or greet me or anything. On the forms I specifically stated I'm seeking therapy for OCD. There was no request made for med management, or that I needed to see a prescriber. It took me a second to collect myself, but I told her that was extremely unprofessional, and how dare she turn the tables on someone seeking help trying to accuse them of being pill seeking. I told her to put herself in a patient shoes for just a second and imagine they are finally brave enough to reach out and ask for help, only to be met with a terrible attitude and a forced discussion of meds that was never even brought up in the request, other than on their paperwork where they wanted to know current medications. Why are they asking about medications just to use that information to use it against patients? She said she would give that feedback to the doctors... And I said "no, you are the one making these phone calls. You need to learn to have some tact and how to greet people. Learn to ask questions before you jump to conclusions." I guess it's a blessing this place was a solid NO before I even met the doctor. If that's how their front office staff handles patients, I can't imagine the level of care is anything to write home about.

I've been in and out of different Psychiatrists since I was 16 due to an extensive history of abuse and following mental health disorders and Dr. Gomez treated me with respect and without bias even with my highly stigmatized diagnosis. He's the first Psychiatrist that didn't make me feel bad for not wanting to take certain medications. I feel heard at our appointments and he listens to my input about meds I want to take and meds I don't want to take. I was really iffy about seeing a male provider because of my PTSD around older men in general but I'm really glad I found him. He has made me feel safe, heard, and respected. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gomez.
