I had a pretty detailed and complicated vision, and she was able to produce a custom piece that was beyond my expectations. The studio is cozy and clean and close to all the best parts of Broad Ripple (so I could treat myself to a new plant at Snakeroot and a beer or three at the Alley Cat after my appointments). When the day of my appointment came, I'm not gonna lie--I was nervous. I'd chosen to go all-in with a large first piece, and I was unsure how I'd react to the new environment (though I was also really excited because of how awesome the artwork was). Cass was great at explaining the process and made me immediately feel comfortable and welcomed. She continued to be communicative and gentle throughout the process, and we took breaks as needed. (It didn't hurt nearly as much as I'd always imagined it would; though I also chose a less painful area to start with, fwiw.) All this so far would have gotten a 5-star review from me. Had that been my entire experience, I still would have been completely satisfied. However, I was also lucky enough to be there on a day when two other artists--Johnny and Micah--were in, and both of them were awesome enough to chat with me about all kinds of random things we all had in common, and it totally made the experience above and beyond. Like, these people sort of feel a wee little bit like family now, and I can't wait until I get to go back and see them and have a needle jabbed into me for many, many more hours. Most of the artists here have been around for a minute, and if you're a frequent flyer (:D), they're sure to greet you! Lesley has done my most recent work. (My other artist is no longer there.) She is wonderful; very friendly, offers suggestions, and gives you exactly what you're looking for. I strongly recommend working with her! Reasonable prices and quality work. I recommend scheduling an appointment for throughout the week. The shop is currently open until 9 PM. Saturday's are walk-in days. If you're not there early, it can be challenging to get a piece done. (But don't let it stop you from trying!) I have never left here feeling disappointed with anything I've gotten.
