Anyhow, she was able to help my manage even more thoroughly after my test. Note: It was managed well before but again, because of insurance I couldn't get the medicine I needed without proof aka sleep test. She is so caring and a fantastic provider. Every. Single. Time. I send her a message through the portal or call her she calls back within 24 hours! How many providers can you say that about?? Maybe 1/10. Highly recommend Deepa! She is a fantastic provider and cares deeply for her patients. Giving a 4/5 star rating because the office really is not great about getting back to patients. The scheduler for sleep studies, Denise?, is fantastic at returning calls (and Deepa as i mentioned), but that is it. it is very hard to get in touch with the provider you need unless you message them directly.

I called and told them that it was the wrong one, they told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Later, they admitted that it was the wrong one and they'd have to do it again in 6 months. In the last 3 weeks, i've left 3 messages asking for the nurse to call me back so I can get the sleep study scheduled. They just ignore the messages. I'm not even sure what to do anymore. They just simply don't seem to give a damn.

Later that evening, Dr. Shults called me when she determined (after reviewing a detailed, earlier sleep study) that my apnea was much more severe than I thought. I received more information about my apnea from her than I ever did from the (non-OSU) physician who conducted the study. I've since decided to try an appliance and will be fitted soon. Dr. Shults, Krista and the other staff with whom I've worked are very knowledgeable, professional and kind. I'm so happy that I found Powell Dental Group! AUGUST 22 UPDATE: I've had my SomnoMed oral appliance for about six weeks. It's literally changed my life - there was a major difference in my sleep after only one night wearing it! Three years ago, I had 47 apnea episodes PER HOUR (determined by a sleep study). A study done a couple of weeks ago showed only SIX episodes/hour, thanks to the appliance! Dr. Shults and I hope that by adjusting the SomnoMed, I may be able to get that number close to or at zero. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Shults and the SomnoMed appliance - I feel good again and have my life back! SEPTEMBER 24 UPDATE: According to the sleep study I did last week, I'm now down to 3.1 apnea episodes per hour!! I feel GREAT!!!

Also, I have a broken upper back molar (which has stabilized and gives me zero problems whatsoever). The doctor wants to put a crown or a cap on it. My previous dentist (not in this city unfortunately) told me as long as the tooth was stable he could see no reason to mess with it.
