This place was pretty mellow on a Wednesday night. My group came here for the karaoke night, so I…read morewas glad that it wasn't as busy as I had thought it could be. We entered the building from the parking lot side (which there was plenty of parking, not sure how that would be on a busier night). We had already planned on signing up for the membership - the process took maybe 5 minutes to register each person and was fairly easy. The entrance has the registration desk and a hangout area, maybe unused bar area, and I could also see into another room where other events are sometimes held. We walked past the bathrooms where another bar area was located, and the main big room. The ceiling was covered with many pride flags, almost as to cover some of the vents that were emitting a strong current of air throughout the venue. There were plenty of tables with chairs for ample seating. Karaoke was already in full swing, and there were only a few other people participating. I can't remember which program they use, but it's a fairly easy app/website where you create a singer account, look up the song list, and add yourself to the singers queue. If they don't have the song that you want in the song list, you're also able to request for the DJ to eventually add the song if they are able to. The only thing I didn't like about the karaoke set-up were the locations of the tv screens where you'd be reading the lyrics. There are 2 giant tvs on either side of the main room, and maybe because I'm only 5'2", but to me - they seemed like I was looking up quite a bit. There are also smaller tvs behind the main bar. Overall, the SOCH seems to be a fun place to hangout when there are things going on, which they have a LOT of events available for all sorts of people and interests. I'd definitely go back there sometime.

They explained to me that they are having a problem with a leak in the plumbing from next-door. The floor wasn't wet. Obviously someone had spelled A sticky drink on the floor, and my flip-flop stuck to it as I walked in the door. Someone had taken time out of their busy day to put a wet floor sign in the restroom. Both gentlemen were standing at the front of the establishment doing absolutely nothing and someone could've run a mop over the floor, but nobody bothered. Just so gross.

The Spaceship Ufo House, is a distinctive landmark known for its futuristic design resembling a flying saucer. This privately owned residence stands out with its circular shape and unique decor that reflects a sci-fi theme. Constructed in the 1970s, it has become a popular point of interest for visitors intrigued by its unusual architecture. We need more of this and fortunately New Mexico can deliver.

It is a 2 bedroom, 3 bath, 3,686 square foot home that was built in 1984 It is an actual house that is currently being lived in, so you cannot go inside and should be respectable of the occupants. You can still get a decent view of the property from the sidewalk and you will find parking right in front of the house on the street. It was the home of artist Bart Prince, who designed it and the accompanying art and not only served as his residence, but his studio too. You will also find some eclectic sculptures scattered around the grounds. This neat little house was sold in 2022 and I have seen it posted as an Air B & B recently. That would be a cool place to stay in, but I am not sure ablout living here, with all of the attention and tourist coming through. This place is a Albuquerque landmark. The abstract metal sculptures that are out front and just behind the fence are as interesting as the house. You will even see a dinosaur. If you are a road tripper, this should definitely be on you to see list if you are in Albuquerque. Anyway, as with most attractions that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, such as the Big Red Arrow, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

This year I'm updating with another four star salute and I'll try to keep spoilers to a minimum. If you're on the fence about buying a ticket, forget my rating, read this description and ask yourself if the play (not a traditional haunted house) sounds like your cuppa blood, er, tea. If you're familiar with Quarantine's previous work, you know they've tackled some scary scenarios, from aliens to a zombie apocalypse, in performances that break the fourth wall and ask the audience to actively participate in the slaughter. It's great fun, somewhat freaky, super immersive. In 2019's "Fantasmagoria" (great title, yo), they've perhaps regressed and lept forward; the fourth wall has re-erected -- there's no audience interaction, here -- and the theatrical performance has been enhanced. Now playing in a fully furnished Victorian home (amazingly, in a warehouse on a dark street in a spooky area of the city), the set is impressive, the storyline more involved than ever, acting is sharp and intense, you're going to see a play that literally moves. A format all the rage in larger cities, "Fantasmagoria" splits the audience into groups who follow various characters about the house, witnessing scenes that build the dramatic tension that ultimately leads to the bloodletting. Some of it works, some feels like filler, but you're never wandering far from the central narrative. If you're into this kinda thing, they offer a fun, inexpensive way to return and get an entirely new tour of the carnage. I keep dropping in bloody metaphors, but really, this is a very tame show -- no jump scares, I'd let my 9 year-old do it, if she asked. Ultimately, I was impressed with the commitment to the material, particularly by a few notable performers, and I consider this show a terrific way to welcome the Halloween tradition of great haunted houses back for another season. Now, where are the chainsaws and zombies, already?

If you're expecting to be scared like we were save your money. This isn't at all like the other two haunt's we've been to. The zombie apocalypse in the corn fields was so good. And the one at the state fair grounds was also great. This not so much. Different rooms had conversations going on that you couldn't follow then one character would end up killing the other. The janitor was a crazy dude. Hopefully next year we go and get our money's worth.
