I had the best time at the Comedy Loft this past weekend watching Kam Patterson. We took the train in and walked about 10 minutes before arriving at the bar. The show started at 7 pm (really 8 pm) and we got there a little after 6:30 pm when the doors initially opened. When we got there we had lots of options to sit at since there were only a couple of people there. The staff was very friendly with helping us navigate a spot with a nice view around the reserved tables. I believe you can pay $10 extra to get a closer seat but I think getting there early is just as good. Our server was great at remembering what we needed and also helping the many other people within the space. By the time the show started it had gotten very very crowded but he still did a great job helping everyone and not being in the way. We ordered wings, their fried chicken sandwich and Cutwater's. The wings with lemon pepper were really good for bar food. The fried chicken sandwich I would recommend passing on. The show itself was hilarious. There was a host and 3 comedians before the main act. If you ever get the chance definitely check out a Kam Patterson show. I will be back for another night of laughs at the Comedy Loft.

This place reminds me of the Punch Line San Francisco. Service is excellent and fast even when the house is packet. Food looked good, and although I didn't try anything I mingled with fellow early arrivals and they all said the garlic wings were outstanding and one of the servers said the fried mozzarella sticks were their most popular item. The location is the previous and legendary Brickskeller, so those of us that have flowed in and out of DC over the last 25 years may find this place familiars. Anyway, your group can reserve sections or you can come alone. There's a place for everyone and all are welcomed. FYI, there's a two "item" minimum required purchase, which can be food or beverage items. Key to know that you must order these in the comedy room that you'll be seeing the show, or it doesn't count towards the two item minimum. Anyway, cool place, comfortable seating, great service, and awesome comedy!

I'm at the Comedy Loft now for the Flex Alexandra Show that supposed to start at 2145hrs. They had people standing in the stairways, jammed packed in the basement and outside. Then they have the nerve to say a two item minimum purchase. After people were buying drinks at the basement bar and you started the show a hour and fifteen minutes late. This is the last time that I will ever come to this place. Management this unsatisfactory and disappointing. Let's do better.

I had such a good laugh here seeing the Felonious Munk and a few other people! I didn't like the fact that the ticket purchase recommends showing up 30 min to an hour early and you won't be guaranteed a seat if you come late but I showed up 10 minutes before and everyone was waiting downstairs in the bar area because the loft wasn't even ready to seat people. They weren't ready to seat people until about 5 minutes late. After everyone was seated there were plenty of left over seats. The place is wheel chair friendly. There is a 2 item purchase requirement and the food comes out pretty quick. I had the chicken sandwich and fries which was pretty good. The chicken sandwich becomes messy as you eat it. I got a rum punch for 9 dollars and it wasn't really strong. Might as well should have got a soda. I would come back for the comedy but they really gotta do better with opening and seating people on time.

Standard comedy club experience. Service was good since we were there 45 minutes before our 7pm show. We were seated immediately and I liked that we were able to get started on food and drinks ahead of a majority of people so there wasn't really a wait. Most people seemed to come in about 20 minutes before the show. We ordered the onion rings which were surprisingly good. A good sharing food for 2 people. We were in the basement room and it was a pretty small intimate show (the room seemed to comfortably seat ~45 people). I enjoyed my experience and would come back!

I really hated my experience here. Other than the show being excellent because Zainab is absolutely hilarious, I would never come back here. GLOWS: -Staff was friendly and tried to helpful. -The food I had wasn't too bad GLOWS: -The venue itself is in need of some serious TLC. It is so outdated, poorly arranged, and too jam packed. - The service was so horrible. It was just chaotic and unorganized -The stage was so small, there were only a few points in the whole place that you could see clearly. -The bathroom! Omg! It felt more like an outhouse and was entirely too small.

Tables are sticky, and it's a little um worn out decor wise, but we still had a great time and a lot of laughs during our visit. We didn't mind the two drink minimum at all, because it was Friday night. Ordered barbecued pork sandwich with fries. It was fine. Nothing amazing. And honestly didn't expect much from a comedy club's menu. Sprucing the place up a bit wouldn't hurt, and changing the lighting. But since all sorts of businesses are still recovering from COVID, I gave them a pass on the atmosphere, since the main thing you want to look at is onstage.

I went here to see a comedian that I've been following for a while. He was the opener for another comedian, and him and the main act were scheduled for two shows on Friday night and one on Saturday night. Unfortunately, only 3 of us showed up for the earlier Friday show, so shortly after the show was scheduled to start, the individual who I believe was managing the comedy acts (I didn't get a name) came over to let us know that the 7:00pm show unfortunately had to be canceled. It was clear that he felt bad, and he gave us a couple options. He first told us we could either go to the show that was currently being held on the upper level for free, go to the later show at 9:30, or receive a refund. I opted for the later show and figured I would find a bar/restaurant to go to in the interim. But he then let me know that I could go to the upstairs comedy show in the interim in addition to also seeing the later show. While I know this may have been a frustrating situation for some, I thought they handled it as well as they could have and I really appreciated that they offered solutions. The comedy show upstairs was great, and when the comedians that I originally went to see did come on, they were great too, despite it being a small crowd! In addition to the managers customer service, I experienced excellent customer service the whole time. The bartender I had in the downstairs area was quick on drinks and offered to help carty my stuff upstairs (though I declined). He also recognized that the sour beer I had been drinking downstairs was not available upstairs, and said that if I wanted it while upstairs, I should just let them know and he would run it up for me. The bartender upstairs also had great customer service. She was super friendly, checked in frequently, and even gave me a heads up that the beer I ordered came in a cool bottle and asked if I wanted to keep the bottle vs her just pouring it in a glass like they typically would. There were other positive interactions throughout the night, and to me, good customer service is paramount. Overall, I really enjoyed the environment, the staff, and the shows I saw, and I plan to come here more often! However, there are a couple things to note. The food and drinks *are* pricey (beers are about $12-$14, food is $12-$20ish), and you must buy 2 items minimum. I saw other reviews from other platforms complain about this, and while I understand why that may be a barrier for some, this is also a fairly small venue and I imagine they make a good chunk of their money from the food and drink sales. I, thankfully, had looked up the venue beforehand and knew what to expect price-wise, but I can see that being shocking for someone who does not look beforehand. The food was also good, but nothing spectacular (though I didn't expect it to be, to be honest). I *will* say that the tickets, website, etc. all clearly state the 2-item policy. Additionally, the bathrooms (or at least the women's stalls in the basement level) *are* incredibly tiny and difficult to maneuver in. These two things were not a huge deal to me, hence why I didn't deduct stars, but they may be a big deal for others.

Went to see Isabel Hagen at the comedy loft and it was an awesome experience. The wait staff was tremendous and kept the drinks coming seamlessly. Their fried chicken sandwich was amazing! So were their garlic truffle fries. It's a great atmosphere for shows!

The facility definitely needs to be renovated and probably have a few code violations as it's one way in and one way out. For a comedy bar the food isn't horrible actually pretty decent. Staff definitely can work the crowd and have a good system down to get your bill paid. Garlic hummus Brussels sprouts Green salad Truffle fries All were fairly good besides we were hungry. The cocktails were watered down definitely not worth 15 bucks. Great comedy shows are held here so I'd return for another show

1st time, great time, won't be the last time. It's divey & that was perfect for our date night. Waitstaff was very friendly. Mozzarella sticks were good, that will probably be my recurring menu pick in the future. The menu is generally disappointing in variety, I expected more apps considering its a 2 item minimum. Anyway, we were there for comedy & it didn't disappoint. The host Kadeem, ha ha! So fun. All of the acts, up to the headliner Jay Phillips, were funny, we had a great time.

The glitter drink actually has glitter!!! That was the highlight for me lol... other than that, ok location. Pretty good service. Ok drinks that are expensive (dc prices lol). Didn't love the show or the vibe...would only go back off someone I HAD to see a was performing there.

I did a quick google search and found out that HotBed offers free comedy shows throughout the week. We stopped in on a Thursday evening for their 8pm show. We took our time with travel and unfortunately got there when the show was already underway. Moreover, there were no more seats, only standing room. A bit uncomfortable but we made it work. The space itself is cozy and very reminiscent of what I think a comedy club would look like from TV or if I heard about it. There is a bar available however, we opted out as it was on the opposite side of the room. I don't think there was a drink minimum either. The show itself, was amazing ! There were about 15 comedians, I think. Out of all of them, maybe 1 or 2 weren't great. Their sets are timed to about 2-5 minutes, so you'll still be laughing at the last comedian while another preps themselves to go up. The comedians are also a great variety of folks, from black to white, young to older, and straight to LGBTQ. I also liked how they interacted with the audience, so funny! Overall, it was a great time. I'll definitiely be returning if I am in town and I highly recommend for others, especially if you are looking for something to do on a budget.

If you've never been, just know this isn't your typical theater outing--it's way more interactive, chaotic (in a good way), and just plain fun. When you walk in, there's a bar, but you don't order directly from it. Each seat has a QR code, and the staff delivers drinks right to you, which is super convenient. Once you enter the theater area, you're even given a complimentary shot to kick things off--great way to set the tone for the night. The venue itself is small and really intimate, which makes the whole experience better. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats along the stage are bench-style with cubbies underneath for your stuff, while the upper-level seating has stools set behind bookcases that wrap around parts of the stage. The drink menu includes themed cocktails, plus wine, beer, and spirits--expect to pay around $15 per drink. There are also light snacks, but portions are small and a bit pricey, so don't count on them to fill you up. If you do order food, the stools by the bookcases are definitely the best seats since you'll have a surface to put your plate on--otherwise, it's lap dining. As for the show itself, it was fantastic. There's a lot of audience participation, and the actors absolutely commit--including proving they're actually drinking. One thing I didn't realize beforehand is that not the entire cast drinks--there's usually one designated drinker, which honestly makes it even funnier and leads to some unforgettable moments. The performance is an abbreviated version of the story, mixed with plenty of local references that keep it fresh and relatable. The Drunk Shakespeare company also puts on other holiday-themed shows throughout the year, which is awesome. I'll definitely be back to check out Drunk Christmas Carol.
