I love comics, and this store has an incredible selection of them! The Cashier was also very friendly and seemed to have good knowledge about comic books. The prices are also pretty reasonable, I bought Spider-Man: blue and Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt, two of my favorite comic books ever for $38, which in my opinion, is not that bad considering they're two of the best! I love that they have multiple Selections of comic books for different characters, that made it very easy for me to check out some comics for a specific character if I wanted to. They also have some action figures which if you like to collect action figures, that can be a great thing for you. I definitely plan on coming here again, and not just one more time, it's now my go to store for comics! read more

My first trip here was at a time I was doing a city wide search for a specific, older, out of print comic. For that specific request, I wouldn't call this location the best. It's not a huge store, & their inventory is focused more so around newer stuff. For older OOP stuff, I'd suggest Pulp Fiction on Sepulveda in Culver City. They have a much heftier selection of trade ins, with the OOP making their way thru these shelves fairly regularly. NOW. If you're an active reader & keep up with current series, this store is everything you need. The guy that was working was friendly, happy to help, happy to talk comics, knowledgable, & more than happy to recommend things that I might like based on my other choices. Most book/comic lovers agree that one of the joys of reading is getting to be able to talk about them, which is why I've always found it odd that so many of the employees in comic book stores are prickly, put out, & downright rude. NOT the case here. The employee had great energy & was easy to talk to & I walked away with several promising first issues that I was excited about. I go into a comic book store with expectations, I'm looking to be upsold, a comic book geek is exactly who I want to talk to, someone that's excited about a series and describes it lovingly. This was exactly that. Come here for the service, bc it's excellent!! The prices are on par with what's expected, they don't rob you the way some of these others stores do (I'm not mad about it tho, gotta keep the doors open!) You'll pay the norm here, no less but no more either. Fair prices! Will def be stopping by anytime I'm in the area! My grandson loves Comic Bug. The service is super nice. The owner/manager is helpful and spends the time to listen to what my grandson says he wants--he has speech issues, so you have to really listen to get what he is saying. The store is laid out great and you can find what you need and if they don't have it, they will get it for you. I can't wait to go back again. read more

I've been going to The Comic Bug since its origins in the South Bay on Aviation Blvd then followed 'em to Manhattan Beach Blvd., and now have just visited the 2nd store in Culver City. I'm more local (thus loyal due to convenience) to the Manhattan Beach store which is larger than the Culver City one, but upon visiting the Culver City location, there was some unique inventory (with back issues especially) here. So, to me, it's worth going to both stores. I think they'll have separate in-store promotions such as celebrity (writers and artists typically) appearances for signings. I know they had Mike Mignola (of Hellboy fame) appear here in 2014, but I missed attending that. Mike is the best comic book shop owner, and along with Jun and their team, it's all about customer service and being fan friendly to all patrons. The spirit, enthusiasm and charisma of the store is unlike many other shops where some of the owners/workers won't acknowledge your with even eye contact let along a "may I help you?" with a grumpy demeanor - - The Comic Bug knows how to run a business, and I think that's why so many collectors are loyal. They're the #1 comic book shop in my opinion in the Los Angeles area from the Valley to Orange County and all points between, I've not been to a better store run by such honorable and awesome people. The pricing is fair, and it's always good to support brick and mortar retailers, as without supporting the local businesses, you can only blame yourself when they're gone and you need 'em. They don't nickle n' dime you for bags and boards with the upsell hustle either, they're FREE with the purchase of all new comic books. The parking at this location is good. They have a parking lot, and there's street parking in the adjacent residential neighborhood too. The Comic Bug in Culver City has taken over for the now-retired Comics Ink, making this The Comic Bug's second location after their popular Manhattan Beach one. On opening day, Oct 1st, 2014, the atmosphere was totally different from Comics Ink, more lively and still a work in progress. Michael and the other Comic Bug guys were giving out free donuts and playing music, being friendly and outgoing and excited, talking about the changes coming. While the location is the same, the layout has already changed, with new releases and recent issues in the back room temporarily, and the main room's center racks totally gone leaving books only on the walls, and back issues in the front room. This will all change in the next few weeks though, but for now the back room has only a fan, no AC, so it's not ideal, but it's not permanent. The Comic Bug is indeed honoring existing Comics Ink's customers' pull lists and filled them super early on Wednesday. The store is working on a clear discount policy - either a percent off minimum, or a rewards system - and intends to give free bags and boards (they forgot the bags on opening day). And if they don't order something you want in the Culver City store, they will act to bring it in from their other store to cover your needs. Parking in the little lot can be challenging, but the neighborhood has ample street parking if you don't want to squeeze in. While I miss the good folks of Comics Ink, I am glad that good folks seem to inhabit The Comic Bug in its place and I look forward to buying comics here more often. read more

Lately I learned the difference between a good comic book shop and great one with just one series: Dark Knights Metal. Here's my comic store review series #8! Comic Bug has two locations, and I've been to the Manhattan one a week prior which ended up being really useful. After a shift of work today in the area I decided to call ahead before stopping by, asking for the metal books. Yes they had a few I needed, but they weren't cover price (not a huge deal, but only a few shops are selling above cover right now). Not a big deal, I was more impressed that they had 3 of the very random and almost impossible to find tie in books, which I picked up right away. They also had a nice selection of number 1's of all upcoming post metal spin off character books (Damaged, Sideways, etc) which I haven't seen at another shop yet, including the other location. There's a handful of comic shops in the area and although this one doesn't have the square footage some of the other guys do it is hands down the best one here! The owner Mike (also has one in MB) is cool as heck. The manager Ben is a good dude. And there's another Mike who is also a pleasure to deal with. This shop is super organized, clean, and modern. Unlike some of the other shops in this area, they don't overprice their stuff. I'd say about 99% of their merchandise is being sold at cover price or lower! Which is more than I can say about a few blocks up the road on sepulveda where they're always adding a buck or two to the price of their variants If you haven't checked this place out, you're missing out. read more

My dude, it was like being a kid all over again! Comics, graphic novels, posters, action figures and trinkets. It was all so new again. I wondered where to start so I asked and the guy who helped me- I cant remember his name- but he was chill and non-threatening or pressuring. He knew I knew enough about what was going on with Marvel comics, - which was a pat on the back for me- and he guided me to a path worth looking into. I'm glad this place had the older crowd and younger crowd which meant it was a cool environment. I got lucky with parking, but I noticed the liquor store does attract most of the people coming and going from this little place. read more

Comic Bug is a solid comic book store, with pros and cons like most comic stores: Pros: -Always well stocked. If you missed a couple issues, they usually have the last 3-5 in stock -Friendly service -Decent back issue selection. The Manhattan Beach location is way better stocked but there's some stuff to pick through -lots of creator signings and appearances if that's your thing Cons: -their pull List discount service sucks. Some bullshit about earning points that you can use the following week for a max 10% discount. This is the primary reason this is not my go-to comic shop. I got no time for some arbitrary point system to get some stingy 10% discount. If they gave me a flat 15% discount on pulls, they'd have me for $30 a week read more

Mike and Jun know how to run a great comic shop. Their Manhattan Beach Comic Bug (currently being expertly manned solo by a gentleman named Ben while Mike is getting this Culver set up) is one of my favorite shops in the world, but I live way closer to Culver City -- so it's very nice of them to take over a store near me! Comic Ink was in this location for years, and it was a nice, no-frills comic shop, but since the owner has retired, it's wonderful that the space still contains comics. Mike and Jun have already started utilizing the space really well, making the shop feel larger, and Mike's brought the friendly and excited Comic Bug charm with him. This is a great store for fans of comics and for curious folks who want to learn more about this amazing medium. Highest possible recommendation! read more

The super friendly staff makes this shop the best! I was driving down overland with my friend and we spotted the shop and decided to make a quick pitstop to try to channel some nostalgia! The shop has it all: current comics, graphic novels, toys, etc. Not having step foot in a comic shop for at least a decade, & with no real intention to buy anything... the owner was super patient with us, and spent a great deal of time shooting the breeze with us regarding comics in the 90's that me & my friend collected for the sake of flipping back in our teens! Very informative coversations ensued regarding the current state of comics. Fast forward fifteen minutes, and with no comics in hand to "check out', the owner gave us about 5-6 comics to take with us to renew our interest... FREE!! Will definitely drop by again! read more

The couple of times I've been here the service has been excellent and I've ended up with amazing presents (as stated by the person who received the comics). The reason for 4/5 stars is because of the small parking lot. It has spots for very small compact cars, which clearly means the biggest cars "park" there and it can be hectic due to the surrounding businesses or when school lets out. read more
