I came to a charity event called "Parks for Kids." It was a Valentine's Day-themed soiree. The Commerce Club is located downtown near the Ritz Carlton. Warning: You do have to pay for parking. The price depends on where you decide to park. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. Everyone was asked to dress in cocktail attire. There was a DJ and a live performance. Wow. This place is amazing from top to bottom. From the gorgeous building, to the friendly and amazing staff, and the delicious food. We were at the Commerce Club for a two day work meeting and I cannot recommend this club enough. We were lucky to get to use the meeting space since one of our employees is a member. This review is bittersweet for me. I love this place and I often go with my spouse. But I must say I felt some type of way when we attended the Mother's Day Brunch. This event was $80 per person and we had a few people with us. They charged for coffee, juice,and soft drinks and that bothered me a lot because it was not posted anywhere that coffee, soft drinks, etc. would be extra. Keeping it real, who is going to really eat $80 worth of food (breakfast food at that) so why isn't a cup of coffee included if nothing else. It was nice and setup nicely. The atmosphere was great and customer service was great but even at that gratuity was off the chain. Now I am usually a big tipper. I pay for great service without hesitation but between gratuity (which appeared to be higher than 20 percent) and the coffee/juice/soft drink prices just made me look at this place slightly different. I like things that make sense. We are celebrating "mothers" but mom couldn't even get a cup of coffee with the meal was bizarre. Surely you may say if you can pay $80 for the meal then what's a few more dollars right? It's the principle --it may sound small to most people but I think for me the scene, the reason we were there, the initial cost, then you say charge for coffee/juice, let's squeeze it all from them - is the feel I got from it. But hey, just in general, the place is nice so I won't take that away but I hope they will read this and consider giving a cup of coffee or soft drink when events are held like this. Because this was different from someone walking in ordering from the menu where you are expected to pay for what you order but this was a special event with a fixed price.....come on now. read more

I went to the commerce club for a birthday party. It was on the top of the Ritz-Carlton and it did not disappoint. There's plenty of room in space for whatever you need. You need to most likely have a membership but of course I went because it was an event so it really doesn't count. The bar there was really good. They had people playing music, we got to talk to the bartender before the event started and it was pretty dope! It's a really good view, that's probably the biggest selling point, the fact that there's a super view of the city. I'll think I've been that high before! read more

The food is not only amazing, but the ambiance is also unrivaled. The stunning views of the city are the perfect backdrop for such a distinguished gathering place. However, the one thing that could make it even better is the presence of more individuals enjoying this beautiful spot. It's been rather empty lately, and I would love to see more people taking advantage of the great experiences this place has to offer. My non-profit organizes loads of speaker events, conferences, receptions, you name it using various venues around Atlanta. And if we're looking for a downtown location we tend to use the Commerce Club. The staff is both responsive and helpful and the building -- 191 Peachtree -- has a huge parking deck plus a MARTA station right across the street. Some history. Back in the 1960s when the white-run downtown clubs would not allow blacks in except as wait and kitchen staff, some foreword looking business execs started the Commerce Club precisely so black and white business leaders would have a place to meet and to eat together. The most normal thing in the world now was radical back then. Fast forward 50 years. The Commerce Club moved at some point to this building with unrivaled views of the city from the 49th floor. I will admit that I haven't been to this club in a while and the last time I went was around the holidays, but I've had some good experiences here. The overall atmosphere is very classy and lots of professionals, young and old, frequent this spot. Different scenarios have brought me to tje Commerce Club including work dinners, casual dinner and drinks with friends, and even just going to eat breakfast. On one of my visits I saw TV's Judge Hatchett who was also enjoying her meal at a table next to mine. The view of the city from this club is beautiful at every angle. The service has always been professional and friendly and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making good quality food. My host offered me to sit in the lounge with my choice of menus from either the main dining room or from the lounge itself. It's a high-end club in the middle of downtown. Food is institution style but a bit better. If you are hosting folks for an event or conference it's on the high end and somewhat with it. Paining and elevators it's a nightmare as you can imagine however if you are catering to a high-end crowd it is perfect. Not for a BNI or network meeting and if you are delivering a large scale presentation it's a place that represents that. One of the best views in the city! Dining at Commerce Club is always special. Overlooking the city of Atlanta and enjoying a dinner here always makes for a great time. My fiancé and I visited with my parents, who are members, on Tuesday! They're really trying to make some changes , so incorporating Taco Tuesday will be good for them. Unfortunately, they only had one type of taco, which was pork. My fiancé and I don't eat pork, but per my parents, the tacos were really good. The chef did say they will have to incorporate more options the next time, which will be a good idea. Fortunately, we were able to order off the main menu, which we ordered calamari and hush puppies, along with some cocktails. I had a Margarita which was really good, compliments to to the bartender, John! The food was good, but we wished the calamari was hotter. Literally couldn't have been better. I came here for an early b-day celebration (woo hoo!). We had made a reservation in advance (husband and in-laws). We were seated immediately, and right by the window, a great view. We were given the wine menu (on an ipad). And the food menu. Everything looked amazing. I ordered a berry sangria which was delicious. Not only was it tasty, it was large, and strong. I ordered a Caesar salad and my husband ordered a pork appetizer. Both were quite delicious. The salad was good, your solid Caesar. My husband's appetizer was delicious. The meat was seasoned just right and was so tender. Amazing. I ordered the fillet. It had a perfect flavor. She told us the chef had recommended temperatures for certain dishes, so I told her his recommendation was fine. It was good but maybe would have like it one done less minute. Still delicious, but I think it would have been just slightly more tender. Everything was amazing. At the end of the meal, they came around with an after dinner drink bar cart and gave each of us a little shot of a drink to have. It was a nice touch. This place looks fancy but beware. I just cancelled my membership after two years. -Service is very slow and not the most sophisticated. One time, a server didn't know what an espresso was. -I've never been able to have a power lunch where I can order, get my food and bill in under an hour. -No kidding: the valet crashes my uncle's brand new car while driving it 100' away from where we dropped it off. The level of arrogance and blame shifting that resulted as we tried to file an insurance claim was unbelievable. -There's a strange and desperate "see and be seen" vibe here. -On SEVERAL occasions, I've caught erroneous charges that needed to be removed or adjusted. I honestly think they do this in hopes that you don't catch it. Another friend told me that she had the same issue. -The programming for members is very weak. TLDR: save your money and join another place like Industrious or the Gathering Spot. This place is highly dysfunctional and not nearly as polished as it may appear. read more

This is a membership club and an event space. I am not a member but I have attended various meetings and events here over the past two years. On my most recent visit, a wedding was being held on the event side. Members and guests were gathered on the bar side. There was not a lot of seating and there were a lot of people in attendance. The bar and lounge seating got crowded fast. The chairs are very comfortable. The staff is very nice. They ran out of dishware so many patrons were using their napkins to get food from the buffet. It took awhile but they finally brought out plastic plates. My favorite part of the bar is that they have a separate cashier to purchase drink tickets from so the bartenders are not held up dealing with cash. This was a great asset when I went because the majority of people were ordered alcoholic beverages. The venue has beautiful views of the Atlanta skyline. Dinner was great, white table cloth service, and the view is even better! We had the chowder and kale salad as our appetizers; both executed beautifully. Bread service was on point. The steak was cooked & seasoned perfectly, my husband remarked it was the best he's had anywhere. The mashed potatoes it was served with was okay (too whipped), but the mushrooms were delicious. The key lime pie and bread pudding were also delicious. The club sits on the 49th floor of the 191 Peachtree bldg with incredible views of Atlanta looking northward. I must say that I enjoyed myself at the restaurant tonight. The last seating is usually at 8:30 but because of another engagement I needed to make it at 8:45 p.m. and the staff was accommodating. I felt like I was the only one in the restaurant which should be the way that you should feel at a restaurant of this magnitude. We had the surf and turf which was filet mignon and lobster came with asparagus and mashed potatoes the mail also included a salad or soup to start and a dessert which was a key lime pie. I dislike having to leave a 2-star review, but it's the truth. I'll preface this with that I'm not a member, but we had received a gift certificate of dinner for two. Let me start with the bad and try to leave with what was good: Cons: - Making a reservation. This literally took weeks to do because 1) No one would pick up the phone during business hours, 2) No one would pick up during the dining service hours (Wed-Fri, 6-9pm), and 3) Even if I called someone in charge of memberships for the Atlanta location, no one would pick up or follow up. I wonder how this place functions for people who ARE members because this truly felt like customer no-service. I was about to pull my hair out and even tried calling ClubCorp corporate based in Dallas and even their Communications Manager wouldn't get back to me. Is this place going out of business soon? - Entering the Commerce Club for an 8pm reservation. The building's doors are locked after who knows when. We were only able to enter through one of the doors because someone was leaving. Thankfully security was able to guess we were going and directed us to the 49th floor. Parking is another story - we weren't told where to park, so we picked some parking deck across the way, which thankfully with evening hours was only $8 for us to park for the less than 2 hours we were there. Pros: - Friendly staff and people. Our waiter was Otis and he gave us some good recommendations and he was really attentive. - The view at night. We came in when it was still bright, so you're just overseeing a bunch gray/beige from rooftops. I highly recommend at night to appreciate the lights from the ferris wheel, CNN, GA Aquarium and the parks below. We were seated in the lounge because my husband wore dark jeans, although it makes me curious how different/similar the menus were. The lounge menu was ok: nothing really jumped out to me because it was standard stuff like calamari, salads, sandwiches, steak frites and proteins. My husband ordered the steak frites and they seemed ok. I ordered the carbonara pasta which usually comes with shrimp, but i asked for chicken instead. I chose poorly for when it arrived, this was not carbonara. It looked like someone had fried an egg white and put it on top of pasta with peas and some pancetta, all on a pool of oil. Clearly, whoever made this had the pan too hot that the egg/cheese mixture got cooked or they didn't stir well enough to make it an actual sauce. I could've made a better carbonara than this, but I guess at least this was free? We also ordered an app of their "farmer's basket" which is sliced eggplant with risotto on it with pesto- this was probably the only good thing to eat there. Their banana pudding is passable - there's a generous heap of meringue which was nice and stiff, but the pudding was warmed that it was basically liquid sugar. The entire experience was underwhelming. I already had low expectations based on how difficult it was to get a reservation or even a response. Maybe it's because we're not the type of people to invest in a club membership and "network" like they do here. My husband commented that their facilities are great for training/meetings and that overall, the food is like hotel/catered food. The staff here is definitely friendly and you can see that they operate like a family. Food-wise, I'd definitely rather go elsewhere. I don't think you could really pay me or bribe me with another gift certificate to return. read more

My company's CEO and Vice President Of Operations have memberships at the club so I was invited to dine with them one night after work. The views of the club are spectacular as the club is located on the 49th floor of 191 Peachtree. The layout is nice with a full bar, meeting rooms, spaces to work and lounge areas. I ate lunch and dinner at the club that day. For lunch I ordered the Super Salad which the menu says it consists of Rainbow Chard, Kale, Sunflower seeds, tomatoes, and lemon vinaigrette dressing. It seemed to be the only thing on the menu that was vegan friendly so I thought I was good to go. When the salad was brought out it had feta cheese all over it which was mostly impossible to eat around. I wish the menu had said it came with feta to begin with. Someone else at the table was a pescatarian and ordered an entree which ended up having a bunch of meat in it. Besides the feta, the salad was excellent. For dinner I ordered sides of vegetables and fruit; spinach and onion, a side of fruit, and mixed vegetables. Everything was great minus the veggies were drenched in butter but I am in the south and that's life. I really wanted to like this place, but the General Manager blames all of his problems on the service staff and that errks me to no end. Consistent problems are not your staff's problems. It's you. When I resigned my membership, they charged me $400 just to say goodbye. Also, they charged me a $15 service charge for the luxury of charging the card I had on file. This place is a scam. I had the opportunity to dine at The Commerce Club during breakfast for an annual event. I absolutely loved the location of the club on the 49th floor of the building. The views are amazing, which makes for an incredible dining experience. The venue is very spacious and well decorated. There is a restaurant/lounge area and also meeting style rooms where events can be hosted. Since I only had the breakfast, I can only speak on that. However, there is a full menu and bar to choose from. For breakfast, there was a buffet spread of fruit, assorted pastries, grits/oatmeal, eggs, fried potatoes, and chicken sausage. I must say that I did enjoy most of the food, although the eggs could have been a tad bit more seasoned. I wasn't too impressed with the chicken sausage. It was a bit chewy and not that flavorful. I'm pretty sure the menu we ate from was pre-selected, so there should be more options to choose from for breakfast, especially if you were to eat in the restaurant. Overall, great experience, and ambiance. I look forward to coming back here and trying more of their food, and experiencing the views of downtown Atlanta at night! read more

If you ever receive an invite to the Commerce Club, don't pass it up :) As other reviewers have mentioned, although it is decent, I don't think I'll ever be going for the "amazing food". I've been there a few times and the service is always great, oh and the view...the view is amazing! You are sure to overhear people from all professions discussing everything from politics to great wine. The atmosphere teeters on stuffy, but the members are just a tad too progressive and "cool" to give in to the stereotypical uptight "club" thing. I don't think I would ever turn down an invite to dine at the 191 or "Commerce" club. read more

I was there for a breakfast thing. The commerce club is elite place where you pay a membership has a breakfast buffet. I thought that was weird..This place is on the 49th floor and overlooks the city. I mean an incredible view! A bufffet... In my hoity toity voice, "my woooorrd!" heehee This is a place where executives/professionals meet and do business and yada yada yada. I ended up just having coffee as I wasn't in the mood to buffet that day. I have to admit the service was superb and I enjoyed all the dark wood throughout. read more

The jist of the Commerce Club is that the food is pretty good but the service and the view are the real stars. I used to work in the building and would occasionally be up here for lunch or an after-work beer with co-workers, who are fancypants lawyers and as such, can afford memberships. I was here recently as a guest of a member for a viewing party on the big 103" flat screen. I missed this place! So here's a first-world problem for you. I once ordered a lobster roll and it had too much lobster in it. I mean, it was overflowing. I'd added bacon, at the recommendation of my server, and there was too much of that, too! I feel like a complete tool for daring to complain about too much lobster and bacon, but well, here we are. It tasted great, though! The only actual disappointment food-wise was an overly salty French onion soup. Other than that, I've had a good Caesar salad here, the wings are crispy and well-sauced, and their desserts are always delicious. At 5pm on weekdays, they set up a little appetizer station with fresh fruit, a cheese platter, crackers, and a rotating selection of hors d'oeuvres, like mini meat pies, egg rolls, and meatballs. As I said earlier, service is as attentive as you'd expect from a private membership club. The view is killer. The place doesn't rotate like the Sundial across the street at the Westin, but it's an amazing vista nonetheless. The restrooms are almost always immaculate and each stall has a sink with fancy-smelling soap and rolled hand towels. There is also a main sink with lotion, mouth wash, and other fancy items. Can you tell I feel fancy when I come here? Oh, also, there is a dress code. Don't come here in t-shirts, shorts, and/or flip-flops. Stick to business casual at the very least. You definitely won't be out of place in a suit. Should you ever find yourself invited here for a meal or event, or considering a membership yourself, I say go for it. read more

It's always a treat to be invited to lunch at the Commerce Club. Their food is not necessarily anything to write home about, but it is very, very good, with a solid selection of seasonally rotated salads, sandwiches, and entrees at lunch. On my most recent visit, I had a delicious and perfectly dressed Caesar salad topped with a grilled (medium) salmon fillet. The complimentary breads are fantastic and served warm, and you can't go wrong with either the accompanying garlic herb butter or the orange marmalade. If it's your first visit, you must try the famous Commerce Club ice cream. It's this rich, creamy vanilla base liberally flecked with teensy tiny bits of toffee. This is the dish that the Commerce Club is most known for, and when you'll try it, you'll know why. The views from the dining room are breathtaking, and the only thing that's more impressive about this experience is the fantastic service you'll experience from the greeter, hostess, and servers. The Commerce Club is not going to win any awards for breaking barriers in innovative dining, but I wouldn't want them to anyway. After all, it's almost more fun to not be caught up in your food so that you can play spot the Atlanta celebrities in the dining room! The views and service were amazing, as a matter of fact everything about it was upscale and comfortable. The food was at least 4 star, but there were a few bumps in the road. First an appetizer on the menu showed with Seaweed Salad, when it came out there was none, and the reason according to the wait staff... it was a misprint. The main dishes were good, but the failure was the dessert menu. They were out of carrot cake, the tart was on the menu with bourbon ice cream, it came out without the ice cream. The wait staff did get some. The tart was perhaps once of the worst i ever had. The Crem Brûlée under the hard crust was drinkable, and had to be eaten with a soup spoon. read more

I had the salmon pastrami app and which was great, but kind of wish I got the crawfish chowder because it was the best I have ever had (girlfriend got it instead). My pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked and all favors blended perfectly. For dessert the banana pudding was amazing. Had lunch here last week. Yum. I had the swordfish. I wouldn't recommend it, and I love swordfish, but it was a bit hmmmm...I dunno off. The sweet potato mash was delish! TRY the chowder! If it's in season. It was heaven sent, along with the banana pudding. If you eat nothing else, try the Banana Pudding. I wanted to put my finger in the ramekin and lick it all out. I actually left two spoonfuls behind so I wouldn't continue to be tempted. It's baked with a flaky whipped cream topping that you have to crack through like creme brule and then the banana steam wafts up through and you are able to taste what you are about to eat. This is a beautiful ClubCorp facility in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The views are as great as the facility. Most of the staff are very welcoming and exude Southern charm. On my second visit for dinner, one of the servers had more East-coast style bluntness...I guess she needs a little training in Southern hospitality. The food is pretty good, though nothing in particular really distinguished itself. The menu was a little generic. I wouldn't thought that they would've put a little Southern flavor into the food, but that same salad, appetizer, entree (steak), and dessert could've been served anywhere in the U.S. Even with the minor deficiencies, the next time I'm in town, I'll still plan to dine here again. read more

Service was subpar at best! I ordered the lamp chops and it came out cold with risotto that was more like watery rice with no flavor. I had to send it back to get it warmed up. My husband orders the filet at medium temperature. It came out more like medium rare. They still proceeded to charge us for everything. When we spoke to Hassan he said because we are some of it he charged us for everything. He also said he offered to cook another filet but we already waited 45 mins for the first one and who wants a filet to go. Best event ever. Tijuana was amazing throughout the whole planning process, and the event was such a hit. The space was beautiful for cocktail hour and for the reception, the A/V equipment worked very well, the food was amazing and the service was wonderful. They even accommodated some out-of the ordinary requests, because our rehearsal dinner was a costume party and we held a special "salt-line ceremony" out of the Sci-Fi TV show Battlestar Galactica.
