The place is very big with a large seating area in the middle of the room (which was kind of weird, but it wasn't bad). I could tell the workers there were all close to each other and it was nice to be in a friendly, welcoming environment. The only downside is that it was on the higher price range for a haircut ($23 before tip for a men's basic cut), but it's worth it if you need a last minute haircut!

I scheduled this four days ago because I have a packed day of business meetings and needed this haircut before work. I've been coming here for two years and paying $50-$60 every time, so showing up to a locked shop with zero communication is honestly pretty unacceptable. If you knew you were going to be closed, the bare minimum would have been emailing or calling the people who already had appointments. Instead, I rearranged my morning for nothing. I'd really like someone to call me back and explain what's going on, because this is a pretty frustrating way to treat regular clients.

There was one other gentleman waiting in his car in front of the shop. At 8am, he got out of his car and stood in front of the shop...I did the same. At 820a a bearded gentleman in a good mood showed up and opened the door. Of course he was the first one in the chair. As I sat there waiting another gentleman in a NY Giants T shirt walked in and sat down. At about 830a...a second barber showed up and proceeded to motion for the guy in the Giants T to sit down. I stood up & said 'I'm next' the barber just looked at me...I said 'oh, OK, I see how it is here'...and walked out. Don't go here unless you are a regular and are in the barber's club. You are not welcome here and they don't care.

After an…read moreunpleasant political monologue from someone at the local franchise I decided to try RJ's after driving past it. It is a one chair one barber shop. RJ has been cutting hair for decades, 26 years in this spot. He is an easy talker, a good listener and, most importantly, a good barber. The finished product reminded me of why a good razor cut beats the "wet it cut it" routine I was getting. I hesitate to recommend RJ's too highly though. With only one chair, if business picks up too much, there'll be a longer wait.
