Easy-to-miss little gem! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, with cool decor and a great selection of drinks. The menu was easy to read, and the staff were incredibly attentive. It was nice to see all of the servers and bartenders working together to help each other out. We visited on a night when they had a DJ playing, which added to the lively vibe. The tables were a bit sticky, and when we mentioned it, our server acknowledged they were aware and that new tables had been ordered. The highlight of the night was definitely the burger. I went on a weekday for lunch. The server said we can seat ourselves. For the chicken tenders, I asked to get them with buffalo sauce. They don't toss, but give you the sauce on the side, which I was fine with. I asked for blue cheese crumbles, and they put a nice amount. The side salad is huge, and really good for just being a side salad. My only recommendation is that they overload it into a small bowl, so it's hard to eat without it falling out . I recommend a larger bowl. The server was friendly. I gave it 3 stars because it's absolutely filthy! I came right when they opened on a weekday, and the floors weren't cleaned from the night before. Literally food in the corners. Also, the table next to me filled with crumbs. When a group sat there, they wiped all the crumbs with their hand-eek! The table is so grimy that it's literally sticky! Variety of options on their menu with vegetarians options which is nice. They are known for their burgers and boy was it good. When we were done, we succumbed to a 'Jack Frost,' a drink with Tito's, Blue Curacao, and large shavings of coconut attached to outer top edge of glass with coconut creme. So we ordered a couple of burgers and the Philly steak sandwiches. We even ordered pickles and wings. Burgers were delicious and exactly what I expected from the pictures. Nice and juicy. The Philly steak sandwiches were amazing as well. Fried pickles were ok. Someone in another review said the mango habanero wings were the best ever, but they really disappointed. Really, really bad food. First off, they charge you $15 for a burger with no sides. If you want lettuce, tomato, onion, you have to pay 50 cents each. Despite those prices you will get a better burger at McDonalds. They say the meat patty isn't frozen but they must be lying cuz it's atrocious, like the frozen patties you find at Walmart. Second is a consistency issue. I ordered the burger with bleu cheese which was supposed to come with grilled onions, there were none. No actual bleu cheese, just a weird imitation bleu cheese spread. We ordered the loaded tater tots which were, according to the description, supposed to come with a cheese blend and house made chili... we got bacon bits and a couple spritzes of cheese whiz! Good for the most part at this restaurant in downtown LaGrange. It's known for macaroni and sandwiches. MAK'S House has lots of options for meat eaters and some for vegetarians. Kind of small inside so it gets pretty cramped. The prices are kind of high, which is the only bad thing. Came at lunch and it was busy already. It had seats open at the bar. There's lots of interesting things on the menu. Cheapest cocktails are about $12, not good. The mojito is good though. A popular option is the MAK Balls. These are macaroni and cheese balls fried with a crispy shell. Kind of gross to be honest. They have some great vegetarian choices. Each of us got The Lily's Philly. It's about $12 for a Philly sandwich made of plant based meat, topped with cheese which I left off, along with onions and peppers like a real Philly sandwich. Also they have many burgers. The Beyond Burger patty can be substituted in any of these. A lot of other good crap. There's some healthy and mostly unhealthy. Has a pretty cool atmosphere. It can get pretty packed. Burger Burger That's their slogan: Home of the Burger Burger So what does that mean? It's 2 burger patties. I remember going to Mexico once and getting the Doble Doble....or double double. It's a double burger. Maks' burger reminded me of the doble doble in México. I consider a gourmet burger to be 1 large patty that's custom made for each burger. The 2 patties indicates they bought a bunch of pre-made burgers and put them together. This is the kind of place where they don't ask or you can't ask for how you want the burger cooked: medium, medium rare. It only comes well done or medium well. The only thing that makes this burger taste good is all the junk they put on the burger. My friend told me the best burger they have is the 'Honky Tonk' which comes with onion rings and BBQ sauce. Of course the burger tastes better with onion rings and BBQ sauce..... but it isn't a good burger to start with. Remove all that stuff and it's just a doble doble. We got some Mac and Cheese for the table which wasn't bad. It had a large layer of real cheese on top, but then the regular box cheese inside, which is just watery cheese. We were hungry, so we went on a mini adventure. My fiancée and I are always looking for a new experience. Today's adventure, burgers! This is a smaller place, and it was empty except for a few customers sitting at the bar. We arrived during happy hour, so some of their vodka drinks were cheap. I had vodka and 7up, and they mixed it perfectly. For my entree, I ordered their "burger burger." It was a double burger with cheese and pickles on a brioche bun. The sauce was great, but the burgers could have had more flavor. They weren't greasy, though. Our server was quick to come around. Overall, an interesting place with a friendly staff. They definitely have some odd burger choices! After you're done, the downtown area is nice to walk-around to burn off those calories. Very fun place! Cool art work in the restaurant and outside. We were seated on the Patio in the back ! Our waiter,Rex was super cool and very attentive for a party of 5 . To drink i orders the Pink drink. Very good and you can definitely taste the alcohol. For appetizers i had the fried pickles and mozzarella sticks. Both were breaded well and the sauce for each were good. The mozzarella sticks had a different type of batter then what i'm use to , which made them taste really good. For dinner i ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and tater tots. Tater tots are my favorite and so glad they were on the menu. Service was lacking and we had to flag down a wait staff person after waiting 15 minutes. It was not busy either. Very early dinner rush around 5:00pm. Our table up front was very sticky. We had to ask for our table to be wiped down. This did not help. We put napkins on the still sticky table. We tried to peal up the napkins, but they had stuck to the table. Gross & disgusting. Holy shit. where do I start with this hot mess of a place? Yesterday evening was my first time there and we thought we would try it out. No lie, the place was done well aesthetically. That's where any praise from me ends. Service was terrible. We got sat in the back where the live DJ was. Apparently the manager asks the DJ to play "trance" music. At. A. Sportsbar. This is not some swanky club downtown. It is a SPORTSBAR! HORRIBLE CHOICE OF MUSIC! While the music was making the environment so boring and putting me to sleep, next came the food. Mozzarella sticks for appetizers. Fine. You can't possible mess those up but they did because they came back lukewarm. We proceeded to order meals. I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and my date had some other chicken sandwich. His food came out first. He waited an additional 20 minutes before my food came out so he could wait for me to eat. How it should be. Food for a table should always come out together so everyone eats at the same time. This is standard in the food service industry, but I don't think they know that here. Anyway, by the time my food came out, it wasn't hot either, and my dates food was definitely cold. Both the waitress and the runner were aware of my food having taken so long to come out. Did I receive a discount? No. Needless to say, I won't be back there. Also, get better music. Between the kids running around screaming, falling and crying, the poor taste in music just made the entire experience worse.
