I really like this the scenery for their dining area & how the front has the garage door that they have open. The back outdoor eating area would be a great place to have a party. It's a busy restaurant, I've gone past it quite a bit. The food was okay & the staff were nice.

Small place with a big heart and an amazing kitchen. Visiting the area and dropped in for a late dinner. Service was superb!! I was hesitant to order the "Marley" which is a jerk chicken sandwich because I am huge jerk fan but usually disappointed... but. I felt like I was in Jamaica !! Spice was perfect and the onions on top just made it. Wow. If you like spice this is the sandwich to order.

An order of onion rings! Yum!!

Delicious onion rings! I ordered them to snack on while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. What a great server! She brought us plates so we could enjoy a birthday cake. The restaurant is fun. The music is 80s and 90s in a dh style that's loud enough to sing along and soft enough to ignore so you can have your own conversation. Lots of to-go orders tonight and tables filled with dating people and families.

I have been here before. Not sure why I never reviewed. Stopped in here because my other two options were closed. It's good, but I don't love Maks. For $15 you should get fries at least with your burger/sandwich. The caprese chicken was good. The chicken itself could have been more seasoned. The Mac and cheese was really goood. Def get that. It's too expensive for what it is. I remembered why I didn't seek it out again after the first time I ate here.

Thought the food was really good. Just a tad overpriced in my opinion, and the $15 burgers and chicken sandwiches do not come with sides. The 3 stars are for how expensive it is, and the bartender is the server, so there isn't really a good sit down experience for the big tip you have to leave. But get the onion rings, if you have someone willing to split. Both of us had a grilled chicken sandwich variation; one plain and one buffalo. Chicken was juicy and not dry. Cute atmosphere with 90's rap in the background. Took me back but the bill reminder me that it was 2025.

Went there as a Claus couple and had a ball! Families with kids, and lots of adults. Watched staff, servers, cooks/chefs, even the owner. Strong sense of 'community' amongst hardworking staff and many 'regular' patrons. Food looked and smelled 'to die for' and owner asked if we could give another hour. We'd had a long day, but hey, why not?! When we were done, we succumbed to a 'Jack Frost,' a drink with Tito's, Blue Curacao, and large shavings of coconut attached to outer top edge of glass with coconut creme. Beautiful icy look and great taste! Then the comped burger and wedge salad were ready for take home meal. We will return, unsuited, in normal attire, for good food and fun! Try Mak's Place! Kinda loud, a tad warm in a Santa suit, but good people, fair prices and 'bar food,' that goes a step beyond the ordinary! Nice List, for sure!

We were looking for a good burger place and found this place and the pics looked amazing. We made a pickup order to eat at home because the inside is not our thing. So we ordered a couple of burgers and the Philly steak sandwiches. We even ordered pickles and wings. Burgers were delicious and exactly what I expected from the pictures. Nice and juicy. The Philly steak sandwiches were amazing as well. Fried pickles were ok. Someone in another review said the mango habanero wings were the best ever, but they really disappointed. The only wings that were good were the basic ones. I wish they didn't bread them. Overall, if you're looking for a good sandwich, this is the place. Oh yeah, the Mac and cheese were delicious as well.

"Loaded" tater tots. Supposed to come with chili and blended cheese, only got bacon bits and cheez whiz

My friends and I have stayed away from here due to rude staff, riff raff, fights, etc. in the last several years. We decided to give them a try a week ago as we were assured by another patron that it was under new ownership. The new owners supposedly cleaned house and removed all the previous troublesome staff. Everything seemed to have improved from our visit here a week ago, but that's because Michelle was not there. We had zero issues with the staff that day, we were served without issue, and overall we thought the renovations were an improvement. The prices have gone up but they have added premium beverages to their selection. Unfortunately, Michelle was not included in the staff overhaul, and mistreated my friend during a recent visit. It is a real shame that The Cordial Inn continues to have problem bartenders, because this place *used* to be a gem. It's now a far cry from cordial. The interior renovations are not worth it for any of us to tolerate disrespectful behavior from bar staff. I am beyond offended that the new owners allow the bar staff to treat customers badly. There are plenty of other choices in the area, and my choice is to spend my money where the staff appreciate my money and patronage.

Smells amazing the whole time. Staff was great. Sean helped us out and gave some solid recommendations. We went with the pepperonly pizza. When it hit the table, the presentation looked amazing. The cheese was melted just right, stretchy and hot. The sauce had a nice balance, a little tangy, a little sweet, not overpowering anything. The pepperoni was the best part. Crispy on the edges, a little oily in a good way, and full of flavor. Every bite just worked. Thin, balanced, nothing too heavy. If you like pizza, this is one of those spots you gotta try. Unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came over to seat us, another 10-15 minutes before someone took our order, and when our Snap Into It salad arrived (for a party of three), it only came with two pieces of bread, so we had to ask for a third. At the end of the meal, we waited around 20 minutes just to get our check. The surprising part was that the restaurant wasn't busy at all, so the slow service was hard to understand. The food was definitely the highlight, but because of the overall service experience, I don't think I'd return.

The previous poster was right, Joe's Saloon is on 47th Street just west of Plainfield. If you're coming from 1st Avenue, it's about a Mile west. I like this bar because of the odd, undeliberate charm, cheap drinks (ahem dollar Schlitz all day everyday), decent jukebox (used to be awesome before they went digital... Patsy Cline awesome), and the infamous Dollar Mystery Shots. Your choice of A, B, and sometimes C, depending on what stock the owner, Ellen, thinks they need to get rid of. Bartenders are laid-back and can put a drink to a face -- I rolled in after not being there for 6 months and they had it poured before I could say hi. The late-great Joe is adorned on a small canvas above the windows and REAL!? wood paneling on the east wall. Soft orangish-red neon illuminates most of the saloon, glowing up from behind wood molding - Not an ideal lighting plan, but almost accidentally the PERFECT lighting level. The bar isn't really a "kept secret" at all -- housed in a stand-alone building with all-season Christmas lights framing the peaked roof, it's not that hard to spot. That said, it owes a lot of its odd mix of clientele to it's location. People that roll into Joe's aren't there on accident. The south side of the street is a vast empty expanse that used to be a massive train depot for the nearby quarry, and the north side of the street is an industrial/9-to-5 business strip where even the liquor store closes early. Now that I've played the alcoholic sociologist, lemmie posit that the out-of-the-way-ness of the bar directly contributes to what kind of people come through the door -- people that specifically left the house to be at Joe's. Aside from College Break overspill (Easter, Spring Break, Winter Break), there's always a place to sit and rarely an loudmouth over-served coed to scowl at. This place can be blue collar, no collar, and popped collar at different times of the day (and if a sporting event is on). There's live music for a cover sometimes, but nothing too consistent. There's a terrific Quizzo once a month, though the questions skew towards the 40-something locals that attend and run the quiz. (One standard category is called "Where are you in the Western Suburbs", another was "Local TV News Anchors".) But, you're there for the experience anyway, so, whatev. While other locals are living past glories with their gym teachers at Kenny's, avoiding eye-contact with old flames at Palmer's or packing it in at local cavern-turned-Irish-bar Brixie's, what filters through to Joe's are the low-key neighborhood joes of all ages looking to sit back, drink, play Meatloaf on the jukebox and maybe play a round or two of Word Dojo.

Miller Lite was the only beer they had on tap, but you could get a bucket of it for like a nickel. Hyperbole? Maybe. A 60oz pitcher of the classic domestic swill cost only $5, which is pretty damn tough to beat if you ask me. Liz behind the bar was super friendly and introduced herself not long after I sat down. Once my +1 arrived, Liz was nice enough to make a bag of popcorn that she gave us to munch on. Talk about being given a warm reception! They don't accept Discover and have a $10 minimum on credit card purchases, but for a small operation like this it's to be expected, so I can't fault them for that. Some of the barstools are a teensy bit ripped-up, although in a dive bar setting like this, I find that they truly 'complete the look'. Great homey feel and a jukebox loaded with tons of tunes for 50¢ or a dollar per song. They've got billiards tables and a few slot machines that I imagine get a lot of play from their 'regulars'. They also feature Karaoke on select nights of the week. There's a very tasteful piece of nude art behind the bar, which I'm told is a painted portrait of someone who works there. Being a big fan of all things naked people, I found this to be a nice touch amidst the cans of Old Style and half-empty Smirnoff bottles. ....and unless I'm mistaken, I definitely met/talked to/received free shots from *the* Jimmy of said namesake bar. His taste in Huey Lewis & The News (along with his great taste in hats) didn't go unnoticed. He was hilarious and insisted that I stick around for a while [keep in mind this was at 11pm on a Wednesday], but I had to decline. Lyons is generally off my radar, but for the way I was greeted and taken care of at this establishment, I'd not hesitate for a second to stop back in, if I were to be in the area again.
