Looking for a good place to grab a quick drink I found the Cordial Inn on yelp and I was surprised at what I found, probably one of the oldest building on 31st street, in Brookfield it would not surprise me if it dates back to the north gate of the Zoo, it is a very thin yet long building so keep your eyes peeled or you might miss it. You have to park on the side and walk around to the front door, at some point a foyer was built on to help keep the elements out, I personally think it takes away from the charm of the place but who wants hot or cold outside air blowing on them every time the door opens. The Clientele were pretty trashy I recall (people wearing 1997 bulls championship shirts) when I 1st walked in, but they where nice people who where regulars and where actually quite pleasant. The wall had some random taxidermy and other things to keep your eyes occupied while you wait. The beer selection on bottle here is really good something like 60 choices on bottle, I wanted to try a random beer I had never tired (hey when in a new place try new things) and the bartender was really good sharing her knowledge about the all the brews, Not long after sitting down the 1997 bulls fans left and a fresh group of regulars came in for lunch they cook and everything right there behind the bar while it did not look like anything really special I have no doubt it is a good old 100% beef American made burger, the kind that Tony Stark would order after spending a few weeks in a cave. Even though I never order burgers out (I make some pretty sweet burgers at home)when ever I am in the area again I will stop by for a beer and maybe even a burger or some other grub this place is that cool. read more

Great local dive with the best burgers in town. Bartenders are fantastic and the crowd is as diverse as it gets. Typically a late nite place for me but have been known to stop in on a Saturday afternoon for a beer and a burger. Keep up the good work!! read more

A group of about 10 came here on a Friday night. The bar was loaded with people going through midlife crisises and that's what makes this place fun. Bar tenders bought our table a pitcher - who does that? Soooo sweet! Love the darts, jukebox and random 80's video arcade games. Cheap beer - reminds me of college! Coors Light on tap - love it! Very cool bar. Yes, a bar. It is not a gastro pub. It is not a tavern. It is not a micro brewery. Hell, I guess you could call it a saloon. It is a bar. It 's kind of a dive bar but if this was in Avondale or Logan square you would say it was a hipster joint. The Cordial has some of the coolest and comfortable bar stools eveeer. Great drink prices and even better menu specials. This is where you go with your dad or your uncle or someone else as cool as you to have a PBR and chat with the locals. A definite hole in the wall, but a nice quiet place to have a drink. They are open late 3am on weekdays, and 4am on weekends. The usual crowd looks like the long time regulars that got there pretty early, and a younger crowd in the later hours. Every now and then a local babseball team will stop up after a game. The have mini beer tappers that go on the table. I believe it's equal to 2 1/2 pitchers, and great if you have multiple people drinking the same beer, and pretty cheap! They do have a grill open right behind the bar that your bartender could whip you up anything from a sandwhich to the best burger's ever! The drinks are absolutely the cheapest I have found around. I ordered a grey goose and cranberry and Im pretty sure it was under $5. It's a great place to get a drink, chat with the regulars, and maybe catch a game on tv, or play something on the jukebox. read more

How do I love dive bars? Let me count the ways! There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place at all. It is a dive but they make you feel righ tat home. It is all that I can ask for in a bar. I don;t get out to this area too much but I could easily see myself being a regular here. read more

I'm with, well, everyone on this. I loved the vibe, the cheesy furniture, the hole in the wall feel, the glazed eyes of the old guys playing video poker in the back, the kitschy smoking area seating outside, the 1980s hairstyles, a lot of cammo and sports insignias on the locals, and the surprising cleanliness of the place. Not clean enough to ruin it's rep, but certainly hygienic enough to linger. I was loving it even more when I took a sip of my first (and second) bloody Mary...homemade, no mix. I was adoring it while devouring one of the best cheeseburgers I've had in a long while. When the bill for 4 drinks and two burgers came to $20, well, then it was just into the slam the panties on the bar and whoop whoop heaven delight zone. I will be back. The Cordial Inn is a wonderful neighborhood bar. TVs there are great for sports, and there is a small selection of food (burgers, hot dogs etc.). The staff is really excellent and the crowd is usually just locals! The Cordial isn't really a hooker-it-up place, but is good for a few drinks on any night of the week. read more

How can you not love the cordial? Well, you might not if you like trendy places. But if you are looking for an honest to goodness dive bar - this place is tops. Super cheap drinks, great people watching, and excellent food. The grill is right behind the bar, which I like. And I know that there is a lot of reviews of the cheeseburger, and it is great. They wouldn't take my order over the phone for a few burgers. However the sign says best burgers in town and ive had them they are great. But at the time i had a bunch of kids with me and just generally don't like being in bars so I wasn't going to go in, sit for 40 minutes waiting for a burger. Sad face. read more

Come here for a beer, the beer is good and the service is great. They serve free popcorn most nights.

This is one of the cleanes tbar/restaurants I've even been to! The last time I was there I had a grilled ham sandwich. It was actually cut off the bone and great flavor. I'll return again and again. GR 8 place !!! read more

The burgers here are absolutely amazing. I went on a somewhat busy night so i understood having to wait for a little bit. With that being said, I got to sit at the bar and wasn't greeted by the friendliest of people. This younger lady who had dark long black hair and bright red lipstick greeted me with a "Hi. What do you want to drink?".. But there was no smile.. And you could tell she was a little annoyed at something? Idk, I prefer service with a friendly disposition.. She was a little off putting. Another lady came by, a little older, was very welcoming! And she was very knowledgable on her selection of spirits! I really enjoyed how nice and welcoming she make me feel! This place is the best dive bar around, being a female this is the only place I can walk into by myself and not feel funny doing it because I know so many good people there. Most of the reviews are pretty misleading. It's just your average local bar. The beer on tap is almost all cheap domestic. Food is limited to average (better than fast food, not so good as a diner) cheeseburgers with potato chips. On the plus side, it's safe, clean, not noisy, and open late. If that sounds like your thing, go for it. read more

READ THIS POST-Be very careful drinking at the cordial, apparently the Brookfield 5.0 will be staking out this bar, due to a recent rash of fist fights. They will be targeting single drivers that have been in the bar for more than one hour and also "pick up trucks", which is 90% of Brookfield drivers, including me.
