It's just one small studio, but as word is still getting out about this spot, both times the classes have been very small to the point where I almost felt like I was getting a private session! With more than 10 people in there, I could see that it might feel a bit cramped, but with 3-5, it was just lovely, with plenty of space to stretch, not too stuffy, and so clean inside. Both Nicky and Rachel were great, very different types of instructors but talented in their own ways. They have high-quality mats to use if you like, which are free but which you are expected to wipe clean after class and hang back up, and you can drink some complimentary tea in their little back room after class. The front desk has always been a pleasant experience, too. Not too many bells and whistles at this studio, but for a $20 it's a pleasant experience from start to finish.

They close the doors after start of class which makes you feel safe and that no one can take your things. The vibe is modern yoga studio where people want a workout. I used to live in Greenpoint and sadly almost immediately after I moved down near Prospect Park, YO BK opened their amazing Greenpoint studio. I was heart broken. I tried classes at a few other studios near me but quickly realized that no other classes made me feel as empowered and energized as the ones at YO BK. So I decided to stay a member and make the commute to both the Williamsburg location and Greenpoint because it's well worth it. I recently finished a 60 day challenge and feel so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community. Everyone is supportive and the instructors are extremely knowledgeable. I have been to other studios where the instructor styles feel very cookie-cutter and are all the same, at YO, each instructor is genuine and has their own style that they bring to the mat. I've never had any other workout that I crave and am excited for each day. I love the mix of fun inferno Hot Pilates with weights and also have come to love the classes that really ground me, and challenge me mentally, such as Bikram (which I never thought I'd say). The emphasis that is put on connecting the mind and body is refreshing and makes me appreciate that this studio really cares about their practitioners.

This studio is built on greed and the only thing that made me stay so long was the convenience and the few good teachers. I wish I had never given them my business. I have nothing good to say about the management staff who are rude, insensitive and incompassionate, all they care about is making money. I recommend finding a studio that isn't built on taking advantage of students, and built on the actual principles of practicing yoga. I'm sure the owner will respond by making something up about how I've been "disrespectful" which is just a blatant lie since all I do is come in, take the class and leave. Do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE. Like others have said, I'll be finding where else the teachers instruct and take my money there.

I was hesitant to give Lucent a try because in the past I've struggled to get through yoga classes, finding them unapproachable for beginners. My experience with Lucent changed my perspective on yoga. The studio is welcoming and unpretentious, with an ambiance that has a calming effect as soon as you walk in. I took a class with Amanda - it was engaging and provided plenty of variations to accommodate all levels of practice. Hi YTB, I wanted to…read moreshare some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? The sessions are long, with some lasting up to two hours, and the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, kind and responsive. While I've noticed some younger teachers occasionally playing more modern music, which isn't my favorite, the overall experience is top-notch. The studio has the hottest rooms, which is perfect for hot yoga. I also want to mention that some of the two-star reviews are really unfair. If hot yoga isn't your thing, it doesn't reflect on the quality of this beautiful studio. Please keep up the amazing work and keep those rooms hot!
