Through our research, we finally settled on 607 Bay Inn and I'm glad we did. We were graciously welcomed upon arrival and given a lay of the land which included two communal kitchens, the veranda and balcony, and our room. Our room was situated on the second floor at the back of the house. Each room has its own private bath. We also received vouchers to be used for breakfast at our choice of a couple of different eateries downtown. 607 Bay is easily within walking distance of shopping and restaurants as well as the waterfront. The inn has delightful waterfront views itself. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony as well as our evening nightcap. It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized I had an appreciation for architecture, especially that of the previous century or two. This inn has that charm in spades. Though the essentials are updated as you can see from the pictures, the old wooden floors have a creak to them and the doors to the front of the house have notes on how to open them with ease. It's a charm that, to me, is priceless. Everything at the inn was well appointed. We had zero issues during our stay. If we're ever back in the area, staying here again would be an easy yes for us. I would recommend it for you as well.

If you are into hunting this is the place. Bubba (in picture below) was an excellent guide. He works hard at keeping the feeders stocked, spreading corn and putting you in the most likely stands. He also was skilled at skinning and quartering the hogs I harvested. Two of us went and I had the ability to kill 4 hogs in 3 days. My buddy that went didn't see one from a stand, although he did see them driving in and out and heard some from the stands. This is hunting, not a preserve or farm. The cook Val was amazing! She is like one of the guys! Lots of fun and laughs. She is a very skilled cook and passionate about making meals and deserts to please! The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The land was amazing! Thousands of acres. Corn spread and all feeders worked and were filled. There was game everywhere. Deer, Bobcat, coyote, Turkey and Hogs. Bottom line is it was our first-time hunting hogs. They treated us like family, taught us everything we needed to know, fed us like royalty and provided a beautiful home and hunting ground rich with game. Thank you to Bubba and Val for a really great experience. Claude

I found such a place at the Galloway Inn. Sitting regally on a quiet street near Thomas Square, the Inn stands proudly with its big welcoming porch and quiet hidden garden in the back. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Keith. He gave me some great places to eat on the neighborhood and, because it was unseasonably chilly, left me a pair of gloves and an elegant scarf to use during my stay. Staying in the loft on the 3rd floor was perfect for my needs. There was a little outdoor sitting area that I wasn't expecting - perfect for a sunny lunch - and the bed was very comfortable. Some other reviews negatively comment on the area of Savannah and as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe at night. There are some great restaurants within walking distance - Cotton & Rye, the Vault, Tacos on Bull - and I just avoided walking through Thomas Square. No one bothered me. Reserve without hesitation. If I'm ever back in Savannah, I certainly will return. Thank you Keith and Jim.

It was adorably furnished, with wi-fi and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in while traveling. You will not get accommodations of this caliber in any of the chains downtown--and with free parking, also! The furnishings and towels are of the highest caliber. Being out of the way of downtown allows the traveler to enjoy a more local's experience as there are several walkable restaurants nearby that cater more to the local crowd. As this is a privately owned inn, the owners live on-site and are especially particular. Outside guests are generally not allowed on property-I had to get special permission to invite a friend over one evening. Guests are "never to sleep on the sofas," and you are assigned a particular check-in time. These rules, while understandable, may not work for every traveler. Also, some of the walkways and accommodations are not handicapped accessible. You will want to inquire with the owners if you have any mobility concerns. Staying at the Galloway House Inn will afford you very nice accommodations in a lovely neighborhood at a great price--offset by some particularities that might not work for your situation. I found the owners to be very open about these, so it's best to ask about them before you book. Their cancellation policies are especially rigid compared to other inns in the area. For a certain traveler, Galloway House is a lovely place to stay!
