Dined there October 3 with my family that was visiting from out of town. My grilled chicken sandwich was actually horrible. I took 2 bites and noticed a terrible smell. I then realized it was coming from the chicken. The only way I can think to describe it is the most awful sour, rotted type scent. I did let the waitress know. The chips for appetizer were stale but fries were good. The reason for 2 stars is because my family had no problems with their meals and waitress was nice, otherwise I would have given 1 star. So. This places food is good. We're not going to miss this point. The view is beautiful for it to be in Kansas. The service. So about that. You just wait forever. We waited over 45 min for just burgers and chicken sandwiches. We had our 3 kiddos who were as patient as possible, but it's hard. They weren't really busy. A group of 12 including myself came into eat. The hostess sat us pretty quick and then we waited an hour for our waitress to come and greet us. Yet the waitress never came even after a person from our group went inside and told them it had been 30 minutes since we've been sat and were still waiting on drinks. The group of 6 that sat after us were getting their food and drinks, yet a waitress still never approached us. About 40 minutes into our wait, a hostess came and asked if we have been helped and the obvious answer was no. We figured since the hostess knew we haven't been helped she would get our server but still no luck. my group waited 20 more minutes and then decided to leave. So I recommend if you come in a group that's larger than 4 don't come in at all! read more

Very good food and great entertainment. Been there a handful of times and the same issue presents itself. Young waitresses and bartenders who want attention and business is serving hand. It's got military people. Young kids who get rowdy at times. Multiple occasions had to address them and the staff for swearing, fighting, and acting less then professional in front of children and families. No respect at that young age and rank. Good time until they get drunk. The staff do not do anything to address it and I've seen fights and people leave sadly. read more

This restaurant reminds me of an apple bees. If I could give it a 2.5 stars I would but 3 is close enough. The food was good, the restaurant was nice and the view of the lake was beautiful. My problem was the amount of flies in the restaurant. I was trying to eat my food peacefully and was being attacked by the flies every two seconds. I literally had to keep one hand up swatting at them while eating with my other hand. It made me really really irritated and so I asked for a to go box to finish the rest back at the cabin. The only reason we came here was because we were staying at the resort and we didn't want to cook anything at the cabin. Also the fact that the resort is in the middle of no where played a huge factor as well. Unless we come back to the resort, I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. read more

I'm giving this place a one star simply for stating that they couldn't play the SOUND for the Clemson vs LSU game (keep in mind that the game was on all the tv's in the bar) due to not having the "rights" for sound for the game. About an hour later the sound magically came on and the manager came out and told me she decided to put the sound on for the national anthem and left it on the remainder of the time. My family was really excited to come here tonight for the first time. We heard how beautiful the view was from the lake we were greeted and seated. We ordered our food and waited 45 minutes before they came back and figured out the reason it was taking so long was because they couldn't find the meat for one of our sandwiches. The place seemed clean it was an overall nice atmosphere. But I just figured the other reviews on here stating about the slow service was just a bad experience. No it's not a lie it wasn't busy at all and we saw two families who came in after us get helped. I'm very disappointed as I was looking for somewhere new to go with my family. Really good food with a great view of the lake. I had a mushroom and Swiss burger with sweat potato fries. Wife had the summer salad with grilled chicken. Both good. The only downside is the service is a little slow with only about 1/4 full. Food didn't come out together either. All in all a good experience. I think we'll be back. read more

If I could I'd give this restaurant a negative rating NO STARS! We came there (the cove) today for Father's Day and will never return. First it took more the 20 minutes to be acknowledged by staff then eventually seated after another 30-40 minutes. After that we waited to get water and drinks another 15 minutes once those were ordered we didn't get our kids lemonades. One of us in our party received a drink from the bar with a fly in it exchanged it out for an extremely sweet drink that was hard to drink. Our food took almost an hour to get and once we got most of our order the chicken sandwich was hard as a rock and not the breaded chicken and the bun was too hard to bite into. No one really enjoyed any of the food ordered. The only thing that was decent were the Bloody Mary's .  From start to finish our order took aprox 1.5 hrs to get and attempt to consume. My dad had to find someone to get the bill paid since he didn't want to wait around another 20-30 minutes just to pay. Our visit has caused members of our party to have food poisoning. We feel as if we wasted our Father's Day and 85.00$ at your bar and grill. read more

My girlfriend and I arrived at the front door of The Cove around 8pm on 9/30/16. We were seated right away at a high four-top located three steps away from the bar and equidistant from the back door. Our waitress greeted us, although she forgot to introduce herself (blonde, with reddish highlights under her ponytail). As she went to get our drinks, which took ten minutes for two sodas, we quickly realized that we were in the path of incoming outside air and were shivering by the time she got back. It seemed like forever until she returned, the poor woman had a section normally manned by two. She brought us our sodas and took our order: - queso and salsa with *warm* chips - Hawaiian tacos (pulled chicken, pico, diced pineapple and homemade sauce) - Firepit Burger (Angus patty, pepper jack cheese, fried onion tangles and bacon with bbq sauce) It took 25 minutes for the appetizer to hit the table. The queso dip was barely room temperature and had badly congealed and the chips were NOT warm. But the salsa was good. I asked a passing food runner to switch out the queso and she was back in 5 minutes with a new bowl, and an excuse. "Because we use different cheeses, sometimes the cheese gets a crust on top while it's being heated." Okay, that would make sense if I hadn't had been able to push my finger half an inch onto the "crust" without cheese sticking to my finger. It would also make sense if the first order wasn't even warm in my mouth. After finally being able to sample the queso dip, I came to the conclusion that it tastes EXACTLY like MRE cheese. I only finished it because it was the only source of warmth I could find. Finally! Our food came out, and it looked amazing!! And it tasted just as good as it looked, my burger was cooked thoroughly, cheese melted, bacon crispy and onion tangles crunchy. The fries weren't mushy or undercooked...or warm. But I was willing to overlook that, assuming my food was probably plated fries first. Other than that it was delicious. Her tacos (3) were stuffed with not-so-pulled chicken breast, fresh pico, and canned diced pineapple chunks. They were also delicious, perfectly messy and full of flavors! The only issue was with the bowl of black beans that accompanied the tacos. Flavorless aside from the shredded cheddar that topped them. They were listed as a side item and for the lack of flavor weren't added to the tacos. All-in-all, a nice place with a LOT of potential. The staff was friendly, and the food was good. It may have been delivered colder than it should have been, but it was rectified quickly. I look forward to going back when they've worked out the kinks. read more

We have been going to The Cove since they opened and it's always been hit or miss with the food and the service. There was one time that we went for dinner after being out on our boat and the server completely forgot my order. She brought food for my husband and my son and then brought the check.. that charged us for the food they didn't bring me!! We went back today for one last visit before we move and it was awful! We waited for 30 minutes for our appetizer. My daughters food was brought out with the appetizer. About 20 minutes after that, my order and my husbands food came out. All of the food was cold! We were all completely finished eating when my sons macaroni and cheese kids meal came out! Drinks were never refilled while we were there. I have nothing good to say about the food or service and wouldn't eat there again even if I could!! read more

We went to the Cove for a friends birthday. They were shorted staffed and we totally understood that. Our waitress did a fine job. The manager on duty however was a different story. We politely asked to speak to a manager. When he finally came over he had an instant attitude, got in my husbands face and was just an all around jerk. While they walked away from the table to talk about how uneven the size of the prime rib was, the salads coming out after our meal and the meals coming out in a totally random and slow order all of the staff stood at the kitchen doors and watched. I emailed the next day to try to speak with someone with more business sense and have not ever gotten a response. I do not recommend going to the Cove and I can guarantee we will not be returning. read more

I wish I could rate higher but can't.... the service was not good and the wait on our food was completely unacceptable. It took over an hour to get some of food. Then when they brought our food they told us one of the items we ordered was out....told us they would rush the new order. The rest of us ate and that order was still not out when we were done (30 minutes). They didn't charge us for it ...but sadly it was our mothers' order and it was Mother's Day. Beautiful views of Milford lake are available here along with outside seating. It can be a little tricky to find as it's hidden in a campground. The food is pretty good and so is the beer selection. It's pretty pricey ($5 a beer) but the service is always stellar and the place is immaculately clean all the time. They stay steadily busy but the food never suffers. read more
