I saw the Crabby Shack on Instagram a few days ago, and I immediately decided I was coming here ASAP. It's labeled as Seafood With Soul, and it truly lives up to it. The small restaurant is run by 2 Black women and a very hard-working staff. When we arrived there was ample seating, but on a busy day, I could see how tight it would be. I ordered the crab grilled cheese with a side of collard greens, and I loved how packed it was crab and how the cheese was perfectly melted and pulled apart. The seasoning and flavors were spot on, it was a generous size, and the spicy butter elevated it to another level. The collard greens were delicious as well. My girlfriend ordered the soul bowl, which came with chicken, collard greens, white rice, and mac and cheese. She enjoyed it as well, as the bowl was packed to the brim and everything blended well together. For drinks, we ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade with a shot of tequila in each. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered another 2 drinks to take on the go. I hope this business stays around for a long time because it's such a unique experience to dine here.

A Black Women owned seafood restaurant?! Yess please! I've been coming here for a few years now whenever I'm craving good seafood. I've tried just about everything on the menu and it's all good. My current obsessions are fried salmon bites and the crab and corn chowder soup. One of the owners put me on to the soup and I'm soo glad she did. In addition to food, they also have a small bar for cocktails and a few machines for frozen drinks. They also sell their own hot sauces, a Lemon Pepper and a Hottie Sauce. They Hottie sauce is so good that I got two bottles during my last visit. If you love seafood and want to support a Black Women owned business, then add this place to your list!

Wow, this restaurant was truly delightful. The conversation with the woman who served us at the register, to the music, to the food options, to the seasoning, to the casual vibe and the DRINKS. It was truly an experience that I would like to have again. I ordered the chicken mac & cheese bowl with collard greens and the lobster chowder (soooo good). It had seasoned rice at the bottom that I ate the next day and it was so delicious. I opted for my sauce to be on the side, which added a nice touch. My boyfriend and I got the black current lemonade with tequila and had to go for another serving because it was so good. My boyfriend got the crab mac & cheese, which was delicious and wonderfully seasoned with a side of fries which we enjoyed. I love the aesthetics of the restaurant and the bathroom. It kind of has a seaside feel that's family friendly and great for spending time with friends and your loved ones. It's kind of tight so i would say make flexible plans if you're coming with a group

Needed a quick bite before I head on my trek back to manhattan. Decided to pop in the Crabby Shack. They had a bunch of options, made it a little bit overwhelming to choose on an item. The staff recommended the Crab BLT, so I opted in for that and a side of fries. It wasn't horrible, but next time i'd choose something else on the menu. The sandwich kept falling apart and was a bit bland. Nice service and clean area!

Overall rating: 4.4 Cute seafood spot in Crown Heights. Food was good & it was nice trying Alaskan Crabs for the first time. That said, it was very expensive. The lobster roll was good & the staff was really friendly. This is more of a hang out spot than anything else. I would recommend if you love seafood.

I ordered delivery this past weekend from the Crabby Shack. I couldn't decide if I wanted a crab or lobster roll. So I went with the clobster roll. It was stuffed full of crabmeat and lobster. Simply tossed in garlic butter I was a happy camper. It wasn't overpowered with garlic, old bay or insert whatever sauce, spice. I could taste the flavors of the actual seafood. I added the tater tots because you have to have a tot and the honey cornbread

Damn you, Goldbelly! (For those that haven't heard about Goldbelly, it's a delivery service that helps small, medium and even large food businesses deliver/ship their items nation-wide. Prices are going to be a little bit higher due to the speed and efficiency of shipping, but often these treats are absolutely worth it.) I keep seeing all of these special deals via email and occasionally jump on them - to take advantage of grabbing delicacies that are not easily found in my neck of the woods. The Crabby Shack got my attention with their "Clobster Rolls". Basically it's half lobster and half crab...but I didn't follow the rules when preparing mine. Oopsie. I simply had one of each-which didn't suck. These are super easy to prepare. Simply heat up the bag in boiling water or cut it open and sauté the ingredients for a few minutes. What I didn't realize when I ordered: that they are pre-seasoned. Not overly spiced or anything like that, but my experience with other lobster delivery was simply receiving lobster-nothing more. That was my fault for not really reading the fine print...but everything was truly delicious. The potato buns are fantastic. Toast them...or not. Either way, the vehicle for consuming this crab and lobster is delightful. Next time I'm in Brooklyn, I'm going to seek this place out. Thank you...and damn you, Goldbelly.

NOT Good. Go to Joe's Crab Shack instead

I really wanted to like this place but so many things wrong. I ordered the crab/lobster roll combo and the crab Mac and cheese. Let's start with the roll. The crab and lobster was EXTREMELY SALTY. To the point where it was not edible. The crab and lobster were both very mediocre quality. The crab was all the end of the leg meat crab that's attached to the body that no one really wants to eat, not the inside of the crab legs where it's that sweet succulent meat. The mac and cheese had so much potential to taste good but they ruined it with the amount of salt that's in here again. And I usually am a person who enjoys salt in her food but this is too much y'all.. someone in the kitchen has a heavy hand with the shaker.

I don't personally like cream Kenafa so I haven't really tried anything off their menu yet, but the Dubai chocolate crêpe is really calling out my name, and I am just going to bite the bullet and try it one of these days. I did go in to sample their Dubai chocolate. As a chocoholic, I am on a low-key search for the best Dubai chocolate bar in the city. This bar did not disappoint. The filling to chocolate ratio was perfect. However, I do feel that there is an over balance of crispy kanafa in the filling. I think it could use more pistachio cream and be a little on the runnier side. Can't wait to come back and try that crêpe. Until I am able to make that trip back, do stop in and enjoy a sweet treat in this cute little dessert shop. That one is around a $9 price point. The matcha latte, for around $7, was not my favorite. It's quite light, and the matcha is overpowered by the milkiness. I would come back to try the varieties (the brown sugar or strawberry syrup) or the Yuzu lemonade, which sounds promising. Anyway, I was in Brooklyn with my brother to see a concert and had just finished dinner. We had some time before doors opened so we decided to grab a little ice cream before heading over to the venue. Farmacy was steps away - it all seemed like it was meant to be, so off we went. Farmacy aims to capture the nostalgia of an old fashioned soda shop and ice cream parlor. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by aesthetics - the tile, fixtures, and decor totally give off that vibe. There are a few tables to sit as well as a large bar area with stools; I also noticed a few tables set up outside as well. The traffic flow is set up so that you order first and then have it served to you after sitting. Browsing the menu, I noticed they have a selection of ice cream scoops, shakes, egg creams, specialty sodas, hot chocolates, and a large variety of sundae creations. Since we were there for ice cream, we decided to split a sundae -specifically the Sir Twix-a-Lot. This was chunks for shortcake tossed in caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream that was coated in a chocolate shell. Overall I thought the sundae was solid - but the combinations of textures weren't my favorite to be honest, mostly with how the shortcake played with the ice cream. It wasn't bad though - the flavors definitely gave the Twix aesthetic. My only other issue with the dish was that because chocolate shell was used, any residue at the bottom was hard so you have to chisel it if you want to savor any last spoonfuls; I guess that comes with the territory. Service was good - everyone was friendly. It wasn't too busy when we were there so we had our selection of seats and our ice cream was ready pretty quickly. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Brooklyn Farmacy out - they have a large selection so I would definitely return when I'm in the area again.

As described, it was their take on a milk punch, and wasn't too sweet with a bright hint of citrus. I would recommend it. The hummus was good, being thick with a strong tahini flavor, though I have preferred others. Outside of the hummus, the daily salatim included a mix of mostly pickled items. First, there was some pickled cauliflower and carrots with a bit of turmeric. The second salatim was a more unique and spicier pineapple slaw, which was refreshing, and had some herbal flavor from parsley or something similar. The third was a cabbage slaw, which was alright, as I found it a bit too lightly seasoned. The last was a mix of cucumbers, olives, and other pickles, which was standard and tasty. Alongside all of this, the pita was warm and fresh, and the staff refilled everything when we asked. For the main course, I chose the Steak Shashlik, which they spell as shishlik, for $46, which came with tahini and some pickled onions. The steak was tender and well seasoned, and the tahini added a distinctive nuttiness. I especially enjoyed making a mini sandwich with the steak, tahini, pineapple pickle, and pita. Others at the table ordered the Spicy Lamb Kofta and other shashlik options, including Chicken and Trout. In terms of sides, someone got the $15 Fries with tahina ketchup, which they enjoyed. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal, with no one ordering dessert as a few walked over to the tasty Bertoni Gelato nearby. This place is a tad expensive, but I wouldn't mind going back. Even as a fan of pickles, I wish the salatim were a bit more varied, such as including an eggplant or bean-based mezze. I presume the dinner version is a bit more varied, as there are many more salatim, but they should put a bit more effort into the lunch one as well.

The saffron soft serve reminded me of the leftover milk from ras malai turned into soft serve, which was interesting and nostalgic. The masala chai and cherry cardamom were more subtle than I hoped. Some tasted unique upfront but left a slightly weird aftertaste that kind of lingered. I respect what they're trying to do and can see why people love it, especially if you're easing into more globally inspired desserts, but for the price, I wanted stronger flavor payoff and a cleaner finish. TLDR: Unique global inspired ice cream flavors, friendly staff, and free samples, but some flavors felt muted and had an odd aftertaste. Worth trying once if you're curious, but expensive for what it is.
