Ummm, where shall I start??? As per COVID-19 and the great institution that employs me, I have to report to a site twice a week to appease folks. It's nonsensical, and stressful and nothing works on-site... I NEEDED to be comforted, so after many missed opportunities to try out The Crabby Shack, I placed my first order! (((Insert BIG SMILE)))!!!! I'm so happy that I did, because my lunch was so comforting and DEELISHUS LOL that I only ate half, so I would not fall into a food coma. I ordered the crab and corn chowder with the spicy butter and a crab grilled cheese. It seems to be a requirement thru the food delivery app that you select a "butter." Anyway, I decided to go for the spicy butter, since mask-wearing creates a stuffy nose situation for me. I plopped some of the butter into the chowder, stirred it up and popped it in a microwave for a few seconds. The first spoonful determined the friendship I am going to develop with the folks at The Crabby Shack! The layers of flavor were like Christmas and you got everything you wished for under the tree! The spicy butter assisted and definitely helped the stuffiness I was experiencing. Even with the stuffies, I could taste everything in that devilish chowder. I have new friends, they just don't know it yet. Moving along, the crab grilled cheese sandwich was equally savory and surprisingly ample. I did not expect my sandwich to be stuffed with so much crabmeat, and I applaud The Crabby Shack for making the sandwich worth every penny! The meat was seasoned, the Texas toast was the right amount of toasty, and the cheese was complimentary and as gooey as it should be. I'm so happy! Maybe this will be my Thursday get through suffering on-site work lunch to end the week with happiness meal... My biggest issue is really the cashier; I don't know if he was having a bad day or whatnot but he wasn't very receptive to questions or any part of the ordering experience, really. Any time I had a question, he was quick to dismiss and didn't offer any extra insight that would've guided me. Just quick yeses and nos. It's not a big deal so long as the food is good. So anyway, the margarita is pretty good. I order the clobster roll (crab and lobster) and it was a fun departure from the usual just lobster roll (jobster roll). Standard price but the sandwich wasn't buttery. I saw on the menu that you can get the butter sauce on the side for 1.50 but I didn't opt for it because lobster rolls usually have a glaze of butter to them (especially on the roll). That was a mistake. The roll wasn't dry per se, but it ain't moist for sure. It lacked the richness someone expects when they treat themselves to lobster. And the only noteworthy aspect was while waiting for the order, he stepped out and briefly stated my name in the opposite direction. No real attempt to vocalize and find my friend and I as patrons who already paid. And I couldn't help but notice that there was a group he did have an extended conversation with. They clobster roll is good, more crab than lobster but well seasoned and buttery. The meat just fills the bun, which was soft, warm, and slightly toasted. The overall experience was fine. The restaurant is cute with a fast casual vibe and there's some outdoor seating as well. It's just a little pricey imo. The roll is $25, $27+ with tax, and it doesn't come with anything. I know seafood is pricey, but the roll is not bursting with crab or lobster, so it's not filling and there's nothing on the side to distract you from that fact. After being back in NY for some time, I decided to order some Crabby Shack for the birthday dinner. This review is a summation of my multiple visits here. I came here a few times and love the curry crab roll and The crab mac. The clobster is good too. However, my last visit didn't go well. The curry crab roll barely had any curry on any of the rolls I ordered looks like they forgot then by time they remembered they put a small teaspoon on the top. The best thing from the food was the tater tots, the crab roll was bland-- no seasoning, Mayo, seasoning, etc. it was as if they took the crab out of the shell and provided it with a hot dog bun. The Crab Roll was just okay with more minced up crab meat than visible crab leg meat pieces. Made me question if they even used Alaskan Crabs. Crabby Shack made me feel like I visited the Baltimore Harbor. The crab legs were hearty and the seasoning level was just right. The shrimp was also seasoned well and flavorful. The heat level on the seasoning was at about a 3 on a scale from 1-5. I was not a fan of the chipotle mayo on my crab taco, it was overpowering and has too much of a vinegary taste. The blueberry lemonade was delicious and was even better once spiked. The customer service was very good as they were warm, welcoming and was helpful with making the experience comfortable. I found this place nestled away in my list of bookmarks. Babes was craving seafood and this place wasn't too far out of my way. I used Eat24 to place my order for pickup. We ordered some frozen drinks, "clobster" rolls, and a pound of Alaskan king crab legs in the garlic butter sauce. Everything was AMAZING. Like, I was craving the same exact meal the next day amazing. As a crab lover I was so happy to see the clobster roll on the menu which is half crab and half lobster. I went here last week to get the fried salmon bites and they come with a nice drizzle of soy sauce on top and a side of yuzo which is delicious. I also added their lemon pepper sauce just to add a little razzle dazzle and thankfully they sell it so I'll buy some on my next visit. The crab tacos are refreshingly zesty, and the Alaskan snowcrab platter, served with potatoes and corn, is equally satisfying. The crab BLT with avocado, bacon, tomato and leafy greens, is served on a perfectly charred toast and it is as delicious as it sounds. But what I really like here is the boiled shrimp. I spent $112 and when my order arrived one of the soups was not included. Goldbelly made it right with a partial credit of my order, but I was disappointed in the poor service from The Crabby Shack. Crabby shack doesn't have shack prices lol it isn't expensive, but do not let the name make you think it's extra cheap. I got the famous crab roll and took the advice of another reviewer here to supplement it with the crab mac and cheese because the roll alone would not be substantial although overflowing with crab. The crab roll is entirely delicious and I asked for extra garlic sauce. Not the sort of thing you want to eat on a hot date but exactly the sort of thing you want to eat while chilling and watching Grey's Anatomy on your couch. The crab roll comes in a hot dog bun and is overflowing with crab meat. I give it 100%. $14 is a little pricy but worth it. I also got the crab Mac n cheese, which while delicious and dense was not exactly what I expected it to be. I think I could probably have ordered the Mac n cheese without the crab and have been just as satisfied. The cornbread that everyone raves about in reviews was cool but the best thing to me here other than the rolls and crab was the crab bisque soup. It came piping hot and was properly seasoned with lumps of crab in it. I would get that and the crab legs. I tried the peach cobbler which I thought was horrible, since it looked like can peaches with cheap box cake batter on top. Stayed in Brooklyn in December and found this high rated eatery on Yelp. Place was clean and had nautical design theme. Walked in and the friendly staff immediately greeted and took my order. Of course, I had to try a couple of items :) First, the Crab Roll. I was salivating when I saw it come out of the kitchen. It was stuff full off real fresh crab meat. I also ordered the Crab Mac & Cheese. It took a little longer because they bake it from scratch but was worth it. Piping hot, gooey tasty cheese w/ nice crust, and again, filled with real crab meat (see close up pic). The mac was big enough to share for 2 but I was solo so more for me...lol. Only wish the order of Crab Roll came w/ a side for the price of $13. The mac was only $11 bucks. Simple and plain, the food here is excellent! I mentioned a great lobster place a week or two ago, but crab is, first of all a cheaper option and just as tasty. They do also do lobster here as well. As per usual anywhere, lobster is about $5 more. I'm sure I'll go back to try it as well one day. I went with the buttery crab roll. It was great. Stuffed full of crab on a simple hotdog bun. They had a crab Mac n cheese that I thought it redundant to try so I decided to just get the normal Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese is phenomenal! I'd go back for it alone. It rivals and surpasses the likes of that from many of the local West Indian restaurants. My friend had the crab grilled cheese sandwich. They use the same mixture of cheeses as the Mac and cheese, so to couple that with crab was perfection as well. I also had a bit of her honey butter cornbread too. Good stuff. Oh and there's banana pudding! It's more custard and less banana and wafer than I'd make at home for myself but the taste was still good enough to compliment as a dessert portion of the meal. I was originally planning to bring my own beer because I saw a review about it being that type of establishment.
