    Island Ribhouse Nostrand Ave

This delightful little restaurant is super easy to miss if you aren't looking. Thankfully, I was looking for somewhere half decent on Nostrand to sit for a while as I had time to kill. I noticed their sidewalk sign and walked in. It started presenting a nice, calm Island ambience the closer I got to the entrance. I walked in to plants, flowers and "things" on the walls. Their eclectic decor worked well in my book. The designer's blending of "mismatch" needs a high five! My pics don't do it justice. I really liked their decor and spent some time snapping pics and vids. Staff was really cool with that and allowed me to enjoy this moment. I was the only patron and it was quiet and really calming. The pleasant reggae music in the background coupled with the welcoming smile of the Server made me feel as if I was home. I wanted to do takeout but was guided by the Server to sit and enjoy my meal. This wonderful young man encouraged me to have it presented properly and he'd pack the rest for me when I was ready. He knew what he was doing because I had no leftovers! I wasn't even hungry but I ate all of my ribs and potatoes in one go! It was so yummy! The spot is small but super clean. Has that new place feel to it as well. This was 27th July, summer 2024. My meal was reasonably priced and my Server took great care of me. It's a wonderful restaurant for date night/day, birthdays, meetings, solo dinning or just to sit at their beautiful, well stocked bar at the back and do a bit of work. It's a wonder I haven't been back yet! I'll be though. The End

Noticed this place while I was at a stoplight and added it to my list to return. First thing, from the outside it's unassuming but once you entered it has a beautiful decor.Faux flowers & grass walls as well as straw decor hanging from the ceiling and lanterns. Also, green celebrity bar stools that give the place a feminine touch. We were the only couple in the restaurant so we were serviced, but I would say she wasnt able to explain some of the dishes and had to refer to the kitchen for explanations. But the food was delicious. We thought the wings were undercooked and they quickly rectified it. Everything tasted delicious. I would go back and recommend.

I saw this restaurant on my stroll through the neighborhood on a Sunday evening and decided to stop in. Atmosphere: Intimate small but cozy, nicely decorated with splash of island vibe. The music was 90's R&B which was perfect for the vibes. Drinks: I had the Liar which is Hennessy and grand mariner topped with ginger. This drink is really good and hits. I also had the pineapple ginger lemonade which was really good. It's was a perfect mixup with a delightful taste! Food: I had the garlic mash potatoes and full rack of pork ribs. Everything comes really hot and sizzling. The garlic mash was great, freshly made and perfectly textured. The pork ribs oh my goodness, so soft and falls right off the bone and glazed with the right amount of homemade bbq sauce. The portions is big enough that I'm taking the other half of ribs and garlic mash for lunch tomorrow lol. Service: The service was really good. The waitress was very attentive, provided check-ins, gave recommendations, and always had a smile on her face. Overall: I will return to try other items on the food and cocktail menu.

Sometimes, you just want BBQ. Well, look here...a BBQ spot on Nostrand Ave. So why not try it. My friend and I went to pick up food b/c I just didn't have the energy to be out after traveling for 2 days. I got the beef rib and potato salad. The rib was flavorful and falling off the bone. The potato salad was a little on the sweet side. My friend said that's how people in the Caribbean make it. I had to doctor it up to make it more southern. All I was missing was the egg...lol. But overall, good! My friend had the rack of pork ribs w garlic mash potatoes. She was satisfied! Saved the other half for a snack lol. The staff was super sweet when taking the to go order. We actually got a drink while waiting for the food. The pineapple ginger lemonade was sooooo good. I will come back to actually dine in. It's cute inside. I'm sure the good would be even better.

Let me start off by saying if you come here get the mussels in the white wine sauce and also the pork ribs , you will not be disappointed! The ribs fell off the bone and were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had the lamb chops which were also tender and seasoned well. I was told the mashed potatoes were tasty but needed a little more salt. We tried the Mac and cheese, it was okay but needed a little salt as well. The pineapple ginger lemonade was really good. The ginger wasn't overpowering at all! Our waiter was very kind and kept a smile on her face. Service was really good in my opinion. Music: soca and calypso played at a very reasonable level. Environment: it's small and intimate but the decor is gorgeous! Parking: street parking is available. I would come back for the mussels and to try a new dish.

Went here for happy hour on a Friday. The ambiance is nice the customer service was good. One drink tasted like juice and the other you can tell had alcohol in it I don't think it was mixed equally well. the overall taste of the guava coconut was pretty good. I also wish that they had a happy hour menu because there was no prices of anything to refer by and our waitress just told us the drinks tht were happy hour and didn't tell us the price until we got the bill (which wasn't happy hour price it was $12 while she stated other margaritas are $7. i do wish she told us that prior but its okay). i think it would be better if they had a menu and also had food on the happy hour menu as well. I will go back again and try their food next time

Bummer because we were excited for this place and came a long way for it. We then ordered a couple things to go and while waiting outside, the owner comes out with a table and allowed us to dine outdoors. They even brought out a bowl of water for our dog! A wonderful gesture and I don't know how often they do this but we really appreciated it. The tortilla soup was so amazing - they nailed both the savory and sourness of it and even the soggy tortillas in the soup were really good! I had the steak breakfast burrito which was incredibly filling and the chorizo and avocado eggs Benedict were fantastic! We don't come down to Park Slope that much but I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for specifically a Mexican brunch spot!

The outdoor seating looked pleasant. The service was cheerful and attentive. We ordered the Chicken & Oreo waffles and the Baked BBQ Jerk Turkey Wings and mashed potatoes. My wife and I ordered Mimosas, which were fine. The turkey wings were well seasoned and fell off the bone, but there wasn't a hint of barbecue or jerk, which annoyed me. The chicken did not taste well seasoned for Southern cuisine. The mashed potatoes were good. The Oreo waffles were light on the Oreos and came out as pictured, without the whip cream or other toppings that typically adorn a specialty meal. I only mention this because the cost is a bit on the high side, setting expectations up. Our server Kitana was very nice and attentive. It's fine for a low key meal with family and friends. I hope it succeeds even though I won't be rushing back.

Lots of people were coming for takeout, and that was the plan originally, but i decided to stay once i walked in and realized it'll be a cute brunch date with just us in an empty restaurant. The service was great. We were greeted immediately upon entry. Asked if we wanted to dine in or go... and was able to choose where we wanted to be seated because the restaurant only had a few other patrons eating in. I chose a table in the middle of the restaurant. The vibes were good as it was a Pandora playlist of 2000s R&B. We were given menus and ordered our food. The price point is okay. A bit high but not too much. We ordered a passion fruit lemonade and a rum punch for drinks, and then chicken and strawberry waffles for me, and shrimp and Oreo waffles for my date. The shrimp were huge!! It comes 6 to an order, and as you can see 4 triangle pieces that amount to 1 waffle. The chicken was delicious. Juicy, tender and flavorful. Hot sauce and other condiments are available on the table. I had to ask for syrup tho. We hung out for a few after we finished our meal and didn't feel pressured to leave or to pay. All in all, I'd definitely return to try other things on their menu. I'd give it a 4 out of 5 for this one. Because it's walking distance from my home it's an easy choice for brunch for me. A win is a win! See photos below.

It was a warm day in the city so we opted to sit inside. Because it was my friend's birthday, we were given a little card and they gave us a candle alongside the pancakes! The server was nice and answered all our questions. We of course, got the hazelnut pancakes! We also tried to oat milk mocha, s'mores espresso, breakfast sandwich with avocado, and the cheddar biscuit. The food looked wonderful and tasted even better. As a southern gal, I was skeptical about the biscuits, but they were buttery and savory and fluffy. They were definitely more of a bready biscuit than a flaky one, but delightful nonetheless. The breakfast sandwich had a great flavor and I liked the option to add avocado to keep it vegetarian. I just wish there were more slices of avocado on it. The espresso was good but nothing too special. The star of the brunch would have to undoubtably be the pancakes. The hazelnut flavor was divine and coupled with a fluffy, cake like pancakes!! I definitely would go back just for the pancakes alone. I highly recommend eating here!!

And sadly, this is one. Sustainable packaging is great until it's not. Sub the scrambled eggs were melting into the box when they arrived. And had they arrived a moment later, they would have seeped through the box. Fine. I'll just get them out of the box, onto a real play. Ha. They must have been added to the box while they were fresh off a hot pan. A good amount was welded to the box. Annoying, but fine. And then the brew arrived without sugar or (paid for) oat milk. They hate me. It's ok, I'll just drink it black. And that's where 2 stars get knocked off. Worst tasting coffee ever. Cold brew is supposed to be smooth, with very little acid. This was extremely sour! As if it was made previously and had been sitting around for a couple of days. It took me a minute to realize how bad it was. And suffering as a result. Intense stomach pains and tummy issues. From coffee. Smh. I will probably eat there, in person. But I will never trust their cold brew again. Or delivery.

It was very flavorful and the chicken sausage we added to it was delicious. The strawberry waffle was my next favorite, although I felt the strawberry syrup on it tasted artificial if there was too much in one bite. The chantilly cream on top was delicious though. The carrot muffin was ok, it was a pretty standard bakery item. I did not like the hashbrowns at all. Very bland and felt more like a plain baked potato than hashbrown.
