31 Produce/Cracker Shack 12-17-24 This place is along route 31 near Babcock Ranch. The outside of the building is old and beat up with a water tower along the front area. There are some fruits and vegetables for sale before you go inside. The water tower in the front of the building is part of kid's area mining for gems and such. A School bus full of kids were mining and having a great time while we were there. They do have a couple outside tables to dine at. Once inside there was an area with Jelly's, Jams, Toys, Salsa, Munchies plus other old and ends for sale. We found a seat quickly. This place was larger than it looked but it was clean and neat. Our waitress came over fast and I ordered the 31 Club which had Ham, Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, American Cheese, and Mayo served on Bread of your Choice. It also came with Cole Slaw and Chips. I ordered Fries instead of chips. The wife ordered a BLT which came with Chips. Our sandwiches came out fast and they were huge and looked so good. Everything on them looked fresh and that Club was very good and so large I could not finish it. All at a price that can't be beat 11.49. My fries were done perfectly and there was plenty of them for 2.49. My wife loved her large BLT, Bacon was done to her liking. The Tomato's and Lettuce and looked fresh and this sandwich had plenty of Bacon on it all for 9.49. You can beat their prices. Even the sodas are in large 32 oz cups and believe it or not they have some Beer and Wines. This is old Florida at its best. It doesn't look like much on the outside or inside and is not fancy at all. If you want fancy go elsewhere. If you want large budget friendly sandwiches you must stop here. On our way to Babcock we stopped into the Cracker Shack Cafe. It's like walking into a blast from the past diner that also serves as a produce stand! They sell a bunch of local and Florida grown items and their breakfast was great and the best part of it all, affordable! Best bang for your buck in the surrounding area for sure. The food was delicious, we had the Prime Rib, it was perfectly made. I very rarely eat Prime Rib out because my husband, once a Chef, makes it better at home. This Prime Rib was very close to his , it was medium rare and the Horseradish sauce was a great compliment. My husband was impressed as well. The service was amazing, our server Courtney was very helpful and made our meal even more enjoyable. She highly recommended the Prime Rib and she was certainly correct. 3 things about this place: 1. This cafe is located inside 31 Produce, which is a mini farmer's market with fresh produce and animals that you can see. Just before you enter 31 Produce, you will see the cafe on your right side. At the end of November, you get to handpick strawberries, other fruits, and fresh vegetables. 2. The cafe reminds me of Cracker Barrel with interesting and fun items to see while you wait for your seat or after a full meal. They have jams, pickled garlic, and sauces. Country Fried Steak was their special of the day so had to get it, along with the 31 Club. 3. The foods took more than 30 minutes so other than waiting for a long time at the table, the foods were fresh and satisfying. The portions were pretty huge and quality was good. Never judge a place until you try it out. I read many reviews here, and we decided to try it. A friend of mine told me one time the Shack Cafe is yummy well, she was right. We placed a big order. The waffle was delicious; the sausage link was juicy and tasty; the eggs over easy perfect; the home fries were great; the bacon was right on point; the biscuit and gravy sausage was a must-have, and grit was okay (I'm not a fan of grit), and prices better than other places. Food was great! Nothing too crazy, just downright yummy home cooked breakfast. Cinnamon buns are first come first served and worth every penny AND large enough to share. Waitstaff was great...we were there by 9am and were seated promptly. We had a 4 year old dining with us and our waitress was great with him. She was very attentive to our party warming up coffees as needed They have a little farm stand at the entrance and we bought some healthy strawberry plants and tomatoes to take home. There is a gift shop just inside the waiting area and my husband surprised me and bought a beautiful hand painted heron on a slab of wood that he had noticed I was admiring. The best part was out back where they have a mini farm that we walked around to see. We fed goats and chickens from a feed/gum ball looking machine. They have turtles and donkeys too. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! WAS SO EMBARRASSED. We had an uncle in from out of state to visit and were looking for a new place to eat. The Cracker Shack popped up on local listings and we love picking fruit at 31 Produce so thought, "Cool! Let's try it!" When we entered the establishment there was a large sign that said, "Please wait to be seated." and so we did. We're not greeted by anyone and eventually, the lady behind the counter finally looked at us and bluntly asked, "How many?" without a smile on her face or a semblance of pleasantry. She told us she had to clean off a table. After she cleaned off the table she came back and told us it was the table all the way over but not against the wall. She barked the order at us like a drill sergeant. Her demeanor did not change as she came to our table to serve us. She never broke a smile she never tried to be pleasant. We ordered our breakfasts of a pancake breakfast and 2 waffle breakfasts. I had one of the waffle breakfasts and asked for strawberry topping on the side which is offered on the menu. She argued with me she said, " We put the fruit on top of the waffle!" Personally, I prefer to put butter on my waffles before my fruit on so I asked could you not put it on the side for me please? She said, " No. I'll order you a side of fruit." That was just very strange. We waited for our breakfast to come and when it did arrive she told me they were out of strawberries so she's giving me blueberries. Now mind you, she didn't ask me if I wanted blueberries she didn't give me a choice she just told me what she was going to do. I told her, " No thank you, I do not care for blueberries." After we've been there for about 15 or 20 minutes another server came in. Her demeanor seem to lighten up a little bit but the damage was done. She'd already turned us off. And of course, as usual, just before she brought the check she became friendlier. I wanted to speak with the manager and went to the counter and asked another server if I may speak with the manager. She said the manager wasn't there. I asked when the manager would be in and was told at 11:00am. I asked for the manager's name and was told it was Gail. I've never been to a restaurant where there wasn't at least a manager on duty or assistant manager to handle situations. Our uncle who established a chain of restaurants in N. Indiana even stated that this place is very poorly managed. There were people waiting to be seated and dirty tables everywhere. Not to have management during a morning rush is crazy. THE FOOD...Our uncle's waffle had big black spots all over it like something filthy had been on the waffle iron and they didn't clean it off before making his waffle. Then they served it to him that way! Our waffles were so cold that there was not enough heat, even letting butter sit on them for a bit, wouldn't melt the butter much. I had asked for crisp bacon on the side and it came to me scorched. I think they dropped it in the deep fryer and forgot it and served it anyway. There's no server's name on the receipt. She was a lady with blonde hair, mid to late 30s, maybe early forties, and heavy set. A change of vocation should seriously be considered by this woman. I'm not sure why she was in such a foul mood but I'm certain we did not do anything to create that mood. She was that way from the moment we walked in. Her service was so bad and her attitude was so horrible that for the first time in my adult life did I not leave a tip. I should have left a penny on the credit card bill to let management know how awful she was. read more

This is a hidden gem. Home cooked food with sweet servers. We enjoyed our breakfast. I'd like it if they had more cream vs half n half.

Have no idea if the food is good. Left after standing in line for 25 minutes and was never even greeted or acknowledged by the hostess. There were 15-20 people in line (we were #3/4, tables were 70% full during breakfast time. None of the staff even made eye contact with the people waiting in line, so I can only assume this is a normal occurrence for them. I can't imagine what kind of manager let's this happen. Actual price is $28.99. Website indicates salad included in price. It actually costs an additional $2.99. Realize that prices are increasing; however, believe businesses have a responsibility to keep customer facing media current. Bill included a "3% service fee." First time I encountered that. Did some research and discovered some restaurants add the 3% fee to boost kitchen staff pay. Don't object but diner needs to be aware of this fee in additional to normal expected gratuity. Suggested gratuities at bottom of bill range from 30-to-60%, which I do object to!! Well worth a visit but beware of pricing policies. read more
