Today, a friend of mine, her three granddaughters along with her teenage granddaughter's friend joined me for lunch here. Teenagers were one thing they didn't find anything that they could possibly eat with 144 menu selections to choose from they insisted there was nothing that they wanted to eat so my friend and our two grandchildren and I got food. I forgot to take pictures but I got picture of mine my friend ordered the chicken and biscuits and the little three year-old had the kids cheeseburger and fries and the eight-year-old had a slice of ham and mashed potatoes cause she had trouble with her tooth.. I myself had the classic cheeseburger minus the cheese with a side of fries. Everything was excellent. I still can't understand how teenagers could not find anything to eat when they had so much to choose from but anyways, we enjoyed our lunch there we enjoyed a fellowship here we enjoyed our server and the whole atmosphere was wonderful. It's always fun to look around and see tons of Betty boobs Marilyn Monroe James Dean's Elvis everything I love that stuff and you will too.

This is our go to for just a no frills dinner. They have the best turkey dinner, they make their own turkeys & you can tell, you can also get it on their Julienne salad. I got a grilled chicken breast, cottage cheese & fruit which isn't on the menu but they'll make it. Hub got liver & onions & bacon yuck but he loved it & said it was very tender.

This place reminds me of a Jersey Diner from up north except there being a lot more older people that all seemed to know each other. The waitress was so helpful and kind. She was quick to get me my food and coffee. She was also quick to bring me the ketchup and bill when I asked for it. The place has very comfortable booths to sit in. I really liked how the coffee was unlimited. I ended up getting the BIG 9 SPECIAL which was 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, and 3 bacon for 10.99. I did ask for scrambled eggs but felt like it wasn't scrambled at all (see image). The pancakes and bacons were delicious, however.

Comfort Food For Lunch Mel's Diner is a go to that never disappoints. We stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday and as luck would have it, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls were the $10.99 Lunch Special. I am of European descent and ate cabbage rolls as a kid so I had to get them. The lunch special includes soup or salad, the cabbage rolls and mashed potatoes. The salad came to the table first and was cold and crisp with mixed greens and cherry tomatoes. Then came the prize - 2 nice size cabbage rolls with a light tomatoish sauce. The cabbage leaves surrounding the meat center were cooked just right, a little firm requiring a knife to cut them. The ground beef and rice roll was firm and well flavored. The buttery mashed potatoes were homemade as there were some potato chunks within. I brought home one cabbage roll and some mashed potato to have for lunch the next day. A great meal. Just like mom used to make at a great price point. Mel's did it right again.

People might think I'm crazy for giving Mel's diner a five star review but here goes. This is not fine dining experience , this is a classic American diner. The food is always freshly made at Mel's. Nothing's coming out of a can flavor. Taste in the size of the portions is spectacular. I mean look at this picture come on.!

Well if can't find something to eat at Mel's Dinner, you're not hungry! So much to choose from, it was hard to make up my mind. So many yummy! Atmosphere is upbeat with a 50's vibe. It was clean, friendly, & customer oriented. This dinner was a winner for brunch! My husband had the Zinger & I had a Veggie Bowl! Both yummy. Our waitress, Kimberly was friendly & fast. She really hustled.

Bit of a misconception bc I'm not familiar with door dash. But the manager was very pleasant and helpful. They always do a great job. -Christie

Mel's is very much a time capsule diner. I originally thought Mel's only existed in California (a very Californian thought to have) and was pleasantly surprised to see it here. The decor was very 50s-60s-esque which I thought preserved the diner-feel. We were a party of nine people, so I was very surprised to see how quickly we were accommodated for -- we were sat a table they put together in about 5 minutes despite it being fairly busy. The server was attentive and kind throughout our meal. It is unfortunate that there are no halal meat options, however we simply ordered entrees without meat. The menu was honestly pretty expansive otherwise. Our table ordered a range of omelettes to tacos to sandwiches which we found so-so overall. Nothing to complain about for sure! As for drinks, many of us ordered cappuccinos and the visual presentation led us to believe it wouldn't be that good. But again, we were surprised that it wasn't actually bad at all. I ordered mine with vanilla sweetener added, but even then, it wasn't very sweet so that's important to note depending on your preferences! It was also unfortunate that the only milk option available was whole milk. Overall a decent experience!

Mel's is the first place I visit when I travel to Ft. Myers, FL. I always order the Mile High Pie. Perfect.

This old house turned eatery was one of the few restaurants in this upscale neighborhood…read more Representative of the surrounding community pricing was also upscale for a lunchtime salad, sandwich, seafood, pasta, and appetizer menu. A salad and burger were $40 with tax but before tip. Service was very good but not exceptional. This restaurant is TERRIFIC…read more We ate here our first night in Fort Myers. It was near our rental. They had a lot of fires going in the outdoor dining area, giving a festive vibe. And the parking lot was packed. On a Tuesday. So we thought "what the heck." The less than happy hostess let us know their indoor dining room was booked, but we could be seated at an outside table on the deck. So first advice- make a reservation. Even on a Tuesday in February. We were hesitant, but the shades were drawn, creating a wind barrier, and the fires were plentiful. We actually lucked out. Because working the deck was James, the most funny, engaging, witty yet sarcastic waiter. Ask to be seated in his section. Wait for a table of his to open if you have time. You'll thank me later. Now for the food. This place offers a little bit of everything, so if you're dining with friends and family, everyone should find something to their liking. For appetizers we started with their Bruschetta and Calamari. The bruschetta is like not normal, it's COVERED in cheese, and I'm not complaining one bit. It basically made them like little slices of pizza. 6 pieces. Delicious. The calamari was fine. A good portion with a decent marinade dip. For entrees we had their special of the night, lobster mac, plus steak salad, Bouillabaisse and pasta primavera. Dinner is also served with bread and an olive oil dip. The steak salad is a terrific value, for $20 you can't make this at home any cheaper. And the steak is seasoned well and served with a honey mustard dressing, which is good, but this would be better with a horseradish based dressing. The lobster Mac comes in a very generous portion, with lots of chunky lobster, three different cheeses and breadcrumbs. I hate to see lobsters terrific flavor concealed with anything but a dash of mayo or butter, but this dish slaps. The pasta primavera is fine, it's pasta with a ton of veggies (we added chicken). But the star of the show was the Bouillabaisse. Apparently Cristof has some creole cooking background, or inspiration, or something. Our waiter James said this was his second favorite dish here (the scallops dish was #1) but I'm here to tell you, I don't care if you are only so so like shrimp, or are unsure about mussels, get this dish and you will be licking the bowl dry. It's that good. For dessert we got tiramisu, key lime pie, pecan pie and a this ice cream thing covered in chocolate (like a truffle) with a cherry middle. Sorry, can't remember its name, didn't take any pics because we got them to go, and forgot to ask if any were made in house. They were priced like they were made in their kitchen, and we would order any of these again, so go for it if you like your sweets! We are in this area once a year and will definitely be back, and maybe you'll consider going off the beaten path and trying out this spot too!

The mashed potatoes and gravy were also just what I was looking for. The other side I chose was corn fritters - just ok but perfectly fine, although more batter to corn ratio would have made them more desirable. Hubby had the chicken fried chicken and he loved it and his sides of potatoes and mac n cheese. Our family had fried chicken and they thought it was crispy outside, fried well and juicy inside. They also ordered a grilled ham and cheese with a side salad. Didn't get a ton of feedback on the meal but the plate was pretty well cleaned off when we got up! Our waitress was fast, efficient and really sweet. She quickly brought to go containers for our food and drinks. The ambiance of the restaurant gave it a very homey and rural feel, which was just fine with us. It sits nexts to the state farmers market which was not running during our visit. However it was still busy when we sat down to eat at 2 pm. Recommend it!

Came in for the Monday Tomahawk Steak Dinner for 2 for date night, and it was absolutely perfect…read more Starting off My boyfriend and I both quickly agreed the bread was the best we've ever had. Our server, Asia, was amazing and even took the time to explain the butter and everything that was in it, which was such a nice touch. We started with the gator bites, and they were terrific. Then our steak came out, and wow. I don't even have words. From the charred seasoning to the perfectly cooked center and the roasted garlic cooked perfectly alongside it, the steak was incredible. I'd recommend if ordering the tomahawk to go with a medium which will be closer to a medium rare since it's such a large thick cut, Every single bite was amazing. The sides were so good too. Definitely recommend the truffle fries and the Brussels sprouts. The rice wasn't my favorite side of the meal, but I still ate every bite. It was good, it just didn't compare to how amazing everything else was. The manager, Dino, checked on us, and since they were a little slow, (they shouldn't be lol) we ended up having a great conversation with him. That really made the experience. It's always nice when a manager takes the time to genuinely connect with guests instead of just managing. Now for dessert. I was stuck between the bread pudding and the brownie, and Asia said both were so good but to try the brownie first. God, am I glad I listened. At that point I was completely stuffed, but somehow I still ate the whole thing. It was that good. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. It was just a terrific experience all around. Great food, great service, great people, and not to mention the INSANE amount of food for such a great price. We left already talking about when we're coming back.

We both started with fresh salads before moving on to our steaks. I ordered the Umami steak, while he went with a red wine sauce preparation. It wasn't the most amazing thing I've had but it was worth the price For dessert, we split the bread pudding, which was warm, rich, and decadent. The portions were huge, though, so we ended up taking most of the dessert to go. Our waitress was good despite the place being slammed which also meant it was not the most peaceful meal but I'm guess that had to do with the 3 course meal deal.
